Boo!
That's exactly what happened to a Florida man, who gave the "fake human skeleton" a closer examination with his wife - and then called the police. He bought it for $8.00 at a local yard sale.
The officers examined it and determined that it was real.
Thankfully, though, no foul play was involved. The skeleton originated from a classroom - intended to be a teaching tool. The sellers mistakenly thought it was a realistic-looking prop.
From AOL News:
The Fletchers turned the skeleton over to the police, who determined that it was genuine. The bones are a professionally prepared human anatomical skeleton, as used by medical students.Local FOX affiliate myfoxtampabay.com had an article about this story, and I pasted the video below.
Police say that it's worth more than $3,000. It's illegal for individuals to own skeletons, so the Fletchers won't get to cash in on their purchase.
