A Massachusetts witness and 14-year-old daughter traveling west on Route 13 in Methuen on April 18, 2010, watched a red beam of light coming from the clouds to the ground and immediately after noticed a bright white object at an altitude of 2,000 feet, according to testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON)

The witness estimates the white object was approximately 30 feet wide and heading west.

The beam of light was the size of the witnesses' pinky finger held at arm's length.

Metheum is in Essex County, population 43,789, in northeast Massachusetts.

The following is the unedited and as yet uninvestigated report filed with MUFON. Please keep in mind that most UFO reports can be explained as something natural or manmade. If New England MUFON State Director Steve Firmani investigates and reports back on this case, I will release an update.

Massachusetts, April 18, 2010 - Very bright Red beam of Light. MUFON Case # 22887.

Returning from church driving west on RT 213 in Methuen, MA with 14 yr old daughter when I noticed a red beam of light from the clouds directly to the ground.It lasted approx 5 seconds. At arms length it was the width of my pinky finger.

2 seconds after red beam of light, I noticed what appeared to be a very bright white light approx 2000 feet off the ground. It seemed to be approx 30 ft wide heading west.
They were not landing lights of an airplane, as object was heading away from me!!!
