Location of Sighting: Tywyn, Gwynedd
Date of Sighting: 14th April 2010
Time: 8.00 p.m.

Witness Statement: We live in Tywyn and often go to the beach to fish. Last night me and my partner were fishing on the beach which is locally known as the 'Point' a headland where the river meets the sea. The beach was completely empty apart from us two and the dog. A beautiful evening just ripe to catch the elusive bass. It was just getting dusk when my partner noticed what he thought was an aeroplane coming towards us, but it had no visible lights red, green etc, just a glow. It was traveling at the same speed as an aircraft, so we were amazed when this object turned left a little and then just stopped in mid air! There were no vapour trails, and as I say no lights other than a glow. It was a still clear night, no wind, no clouds and no stars out at this time.

I tried to take photographs on my mobile phone, but they are not very clear. It came from the direction of Ireland over the sea towards Tywyn, which is unusual in itself as we are used to seeing the transatlantic flights pile out from left to right over Ireland. We watched it for about 1-1/2 hrs until it got really pitch black. By this time the stars were out, but still no cloud, and it was still clearly visible. When we got home I got my telescope out to see if I could see this object clearer but unfortunately my telescope is kaput, so grabbed the binoculars and drove down to the sea front to get a better look. In the space of 5 minutes it had totally disappeared, the time was by now around 10.30 pm. We even drove back down to the point but it had vanished, a complete mystery, but not the first time we have witnessed strange objects in the sky when we have been fishing in the dark on the beach. Anyone have any clues, we are quite used to seeing Muir space station so we know it was not a satellite, they do not travel that fast then just stop! Did anyone else witness this would be good to here from you.
