Witness Statement: I live in Climping, which is a village on the South Coast, in West Sussex. It's very quiet, surrounded by countryside.

One evening I was walking up into my room. I live on the 2nd floor, and to the right, just as you enter the room, is a slanting window. It was partially open, and through it I could see a deep, bright orange ball. At first I thought it was a low star, but then realised there was no other stars out, and it was too early for such a bright star to be out and so low to the sky.

It was almost to my level when I went to look at it. It was about 2 miles away, and just seemed to be hovering there.

Then, after 15 minutes, it dimmed and went out quite slowly, almost like a lightbulb. After a second it suddenly began to flash red, white and blue lights in an uncoordinated pattern. It began to ascend into the sky and move in a South - South -Easterly direction. When it was much closer to my house it resembled a half circle, or a large arc, vertically. Almost like a 'D' with a smaller circle behind it. It was flashing red white and blue lights, very erratically along it's edges.

The eery thing was, there wasn't a sound made. In fact, I couldn't hear the usually busy road not far from my house.

Usually, when a plane flies over, you can hear it, and it's lights are much more co-ordinated.

This was NOT a plane, it was something very strange, large and I hope other people have seen it too.
