Comment: Below you will find several articles about the UFO in Euclid, Ohio over Lake Erie in Ohio. But since this UFO(s) comes back for several nights in a row, is it just another elaborate hoax meant to bring more discredit to the UFO field? If it is we'll soon know about it. And why is FOX News getting into the middle of this?

Euclid, Ohio UFO returns for Sixth Consecutive night

Fox News 8 is again reporting on the Euclid, Ohio, UFO sighting.

They are reporting that an unexplained "light show" has appeared over Lake Erie now for several nights in a row.

Eugene Erlikh, 20, of Euclid, has been watching the same object outside his apartment building now for six days in a row.

The witness says the light gets very bright, changing colors, then gets dim again. And when the object becomes dim, it beings to move.

Cleveland-based UFO researcher Richard Lee says the video images the witness captured were not of a quality to make a final determination, but admitted that Ohio was in the top 5 or 10 states with good UFO sightings over the years.

But Lee says the images do show there is something out over the lake.

A second witness to the same event said the object moved so fast, he had not seen anything like it.

National UFO Reporting Center Director Peter Davenport was also interviewed for the piece, saying that "more people need to see it, and more research is necessary before it makes anyone else a true believer.

The UFO Examiner originally reported on this story in: Fox News reports UFO sighting over Lake Erie 5 nights in a row.

Euclid is in Cuyahoga County, population 52,717.

UFO over Lake Erie continues to make its nightly appearance
by Roger Marsh, UFO Examiner
March12, 2010

The UFO sightings at Euclid, Ohio, continues now for the ninth day on a row, as reported by MSNBC reporter David Schuster.

With the news spreading on this consistent sighting over more than one week, people are apparently camping out along the banks of Lake Erie to watch.

The UFO is a single ball of light in the night sky that is showing movement and witnesses at the scene say that the object is changing color.

Schuster interviewed British Ufologist Nick Pope for this report, who agrees that the sighting is very unusual. Schuster contacted both the FAA and the military, and cannot find a manmade explanation for this sighting.

Pope says that further investigation must be done to rule out other natural or manmade explanations.

If you are near this location or have witnessed this UFO, please comment here on what you are seeing. As of Friday afternoon, no witness in that area has filed a report with the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) database.

Euclid, Ohio, UFO case under investigation by MUFON

The Euclid-Ohio UFO story making headlines today is unusual because the same single point of light object has been seen over Lake Erie for nine consecutive days.

Eugene Erlikh, 20, of Euclid, has been watching the same object outside his apartment building now for nine days in a row. But Erlikh has some friends now - local witnesses are reporting that people are camping out in this area to watch the return of the object.

Ohio Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) State Director William Jones, coordinating with State Section Director Connie McNichols, has assigned Field Investigator Tom Wertman to the case.

Wertman was reached by telephone this afternoon from his office and said that he plans to be on the scene this evening and Saturday night in the hopes of capturing video and still photography himself and being a witness to the event.

Wertman has been to the scene once already and was directed by the original witness on exactly where in the sky over Lake Erie to be looking. While they were talking, Erlikh said he spotted the object, but as Wertman scanned the night sky, Erlikh said that it just as suddenly disappeared. Wertman was unable that evening to see the object.

As of 3:30 p.m. EST Friday, no Ohio witness has yet file a report with MUFON. Wertman said he has been in touch with Erlikh and has urged him to file a report.

The UFO Examiner has covered this case in the following previous stories:

March 12: UFO over Lake Erie continues to make its nightly appearance

March 10: Euclid, Ohio UFO returns for sixth consecutive night

March 9: Fox News reports UFO sighting over Lake Erie 5 nights in a row

While there are many different shapes and sizes of UFO reports being made across the country on a daily basis into the MUFON witness reporting database, the single "Bright Light" or "Orb" style UFO is probably the most common sighting. Most of these types of reports are later found to be something of natural or manmade origin, so more investigation needs to be done to determine exactly what people are reporting from this Ohio town.

What makes the sighting more unusual, is the fact that the object - whatever it turns out to be - has been sighted in as many of nine evenings. The object is said to appear in the night sky typically between 7 and 9 p.m.

Fox News 8 from Cleveland was recently reporting that the object showed movement in the sky and it was observed to be changing colors.

Late Breaking News

Check back later this evening for an updated report from the scene. The UFO Examiner will have an exclusive interview with MUFON Field Investigator Tom Wertman between 8:30 and 9 p.m. EST, with a report to be filed her shortly afterward.

MUFON is the largest UFO investigating group in the nation with state directors in all 50 states, and state section directors and an army of field investigators in each state. You can report a UFO signting at their Web site - MUFON.com.

Euclid, Ohio UFO case: MUFON field investigator on the scene
by Roger Marsh, UFO Examiner
March 12, 2010

Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) Field Investigator Tom Wertman is here on the beach overlooking Lake Erie watching the skies for the Bright Light UFO that has been reported at this location for the past nine days.

The object was reported by Eugene Erlikh, 20, of Euclid, as appearing in the night sky usually between 7 and 9 p.m.

Wertman was reached by cell phone from the beach area where he had set up camp to observe the sky.

"Right now the most open sky is to our south," he reported, "and looking out over the lake there are a few broken patches to see the stars. The holes in the sky are about the size of your fist."

He reports first seeing something unusual at 7:15 p.m. "about two fingers or 5 degrees above the horizon."

He said a bright, orange-white light appeared as a stationary object, then moved from the northeast to the southwest, and disappeared from view a few minutes later.

The object, he reports, had a beam of light in front of it, "like an aircraft would have going through cloud cover. This made me think that it might be an aircraft."

Wertman said he was on the telephone with Erlikh at the same time this object appeared at 7:15 p.m. Erlikh was at his high rise apartment just a short walking distance from where Wertman was standing.

"The witness said to me, 'Look, there it is.' So I am sure we were looking at the same object."

Wertman said with the time and location now verified, radar reports can be checked out to see if there was any known air traffic there at the time.

At 7:35 p.m. the object appeared again at "287 degrees northwest for 6 minutes, "Wertman said.

"I saw an object hovering out there, orange-white in color again, which started very bright, but it decreased in intensity - but staying the same color."

Wertman said the object was smaller than the size of a pea held at arm's length.

At 7:43 p.m., the object appeared again, although Wertman is considering that cloud cover may have just obscured his view of the object between these two sightings.

"But at 7:43 p.m. it popped back out again," he said. "You could still see the same small orb, with now a secondary orb next to it. Kind of like orange-white-ish again."

Just after 8 p.m., Wertman said he was able to see "something very faint, like the head of a pin, pop in, and pop out."

So what exactly is this object?

Wertman says it's too soon to make a judgment. More evidence has to be reviewed.

He says the movement of the first sighting "was way too quick" for conventional aircraft.

"It went from 10 degrees to 290 degrees and disappeared in a matter of just a few minutes," Wertman said.

He said that during the second sighting, the object was "too stationary for too long. It didn't act like a normal aircraft. If it was making a loop turn and heading back to the airport, the landing light would be getting brighter, not dimmer. And if it was moving away, wouldn't the light we were seeing be facing the other direction?"

Wertman has made arrangements with Erlikh to gain access to the original video that has been shot so that an analysis can be made. Wertman says he expects to file a MUFON report in the morning as he is now officially a witness to this ongoing event.

Further investigation, he said, will continue, and he hopes to be able to offer something conclusive later in the week - even if that means marking this case an an "unknown." When MUFON marks a case an an unknown, that simply means that they have ruled out natural or manmade possibilities.

Wertman hopes to be able to return to the same area for another sky watch on Saturday night.

The UFO Examiner will be following this case throughout the week. Check back for updated stories. Special thanks to Ohio MUFON State Director William Jones, State Section Director Connie McNichols, Field Investigator Tom Wertman, and the entire Ohio MUFON team for their cooperation and assistance with coverage.

MUFON report filed on Euclid, Ohio, UFO sightings
by roger Marsh, UFO Examiner
March 13, 2010

Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) Field Investigator Tom Wertman filed an official report with the MUFON witness reporting database on March 13, for the ongoing sightings at Euclid, Ohio, according to testimony from the database.

Wertman recounts his experience at the site from two visits on two consecutive days.

Eugene Erlikh, 20, of Euclid, has been watching the same object outside his apartment building now for more than nine days in a row.

Wertman plans another trip to the site this evening, Saturday, March 13. The UFO Examiner will follow along with Wertman by telephone this evening to report on what he finds.

The following is Wertman's unedited account from the MUFON database. Please keep in mind that most UFO reports can be explained as something natural or manmade.

OH, March 12, 2010 - Light/s seen over Lake Erie from Euclid Beach. MUFON Case # 22276.

On Tuesday March 9, Fox 8 News in Cleveland featured a report of an individual observing strange lights from his apartment window for the sixth consecutive night.

The Euclid native reported the lights would start out bright and then gradually dim. As soon as the lights begin to dim, the object moves away.

Since no official MUFON report had been filed, I drove to the area of the sightings on both March 11 and 12.

On March 11 the object was reportedly seen and disappeared before I arrived.

On March 12, I choose a different location which provided a better view and saw a light matching the news report to the Northwest.

The light was orange-white and about the size and intensity of Venus two-fingers above the horizon. The light was seen at least three times between 7:15pm and 7:48pm starting as a bright light, then dimming and in the first observation moving to the Southwest. The light was observed by not only myself but three other individuals. The light or should I say lights were observed by naked eye, video camera, and binoculars. Through binoculars not only was one light seen, but a second the same color and of lower intensity slightly above and to the right. A faint light was also seen fading in and out in the same area until 8:08pm.

There was light air traffic in the area and the two closest airports are Burke Lakefront Airport 10 miles to the Southwest and Cleveland-Hopkins Airport 18 miles to the Southwest.

First thought is it may be an airplane circling over Lake Erie for an approach to Cleveland-Hopkins Airport and the bright light was the landing light.

Photo: Tom Wertman. MUFON image.

The sky was partially cloudy and the light could be dimming either by cloud cover or the plane disappearing in the distance. As we watched the light/s the emotions of the group were mixed.

MSNBC reports on Euclid, Ohio UFO sightings now 9 days in a row
by Roger Marsh, UFO Examiner
March 13, 2010

MSNBC Reporter David Shuster reports again today on the continuing UFO sightings by 20-year-old Euclid, OH, resident Eugene Erlikh.

While these videos were shot last evening, Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) Field Investigator Tom Wertman was on the scene.

Read: MUFON report filed on Euclid, Ohio, UFO sightings and Euclid, Ohio UFO case: MUFON field investigator on the scene as we continue to follow this story.

Wertman will be on the scene again this evening to continue his investigation of this case.

Neither Erlikh or any other Ohio resident has filed a report with MUFON, the largest U.S. UFO investigating body. Wertman filed a report this morning with MUFON after becoming a witness himself over the last two evenings.

The MSNBC report attempted to rule out some of the manmade considerations in a Bright Light case like this. Shuster and Erlikh discuss whether or not the light could have been caused by a helicopter. Erlikh believes it is not a helicopter. Last evening, both Erlikh and Wertman reported seeing two objects side-by-side in the night sky, although Wertman has not ruled out conventional aircraft or something natural as the cause.
