Location of Sighting: Maidens, Ayrshire
Date of Sighting: 19th February 2010
Time: 21:30

Witness Statement: This is actually not the first time I've visited this site. We saw three orange lights flying in formation over Ayr just half an hour into New Year. And I was driving so I was sober! I thought about recording it but got distracted by this "Chinese Lantern" baloney. Well tonight we were walking back home after having a meal at a local restaurant. We saw a light in the sky as we walked along Ardlochan Road which is the shore front road in Maidens. I was telling myself that it was a jet cause that's what you want it to be but this bright, large orange light moved silently. There are no clouds tonight, frosty and very still so you can hear a pin drop outside. This thing was completely silent and no flashing lights you get from a plane. We are used to seeing planes at night here. It is on the flight path for Prestwick but this thing did not move like a plane or a helicopter.

As I said, there were no navigation lights, no noise. It moved in a south-eastern direction. That's when the weirdest part happened. Still telling myself it was a plane even though my wife was saying that it couldn't be, it did some kind of maneuver, flashed a few times then completely disappeared. Now this was not a "Chinese Lantern". This was a big thing! It did not disappear behind clouds cause there are none! So I know that this is what folks are seeing all over the place. Whatever they are, they are getting more apparent. Never seen anything like it! Well, apart from New Year, which I now know was the same kind of thing.
