Time of Sighting: 3:50 PM PST
Location of Sighting: Monmouth, Oregon (See Map)

Description: It was early afternoon, so it was daytime. I was driving to Monmouth in Oregon. Just before I arrived another person in my car and I saw in the sky, perhaps thousands of feet high, an oval-shaped silver object. At first, we assumed it was a plane. However we soon noticed that it wasn't moving. It was just hovering in the sky. A plane went by the area where it was in the sky. The plane immediately started to descend. The object was also a bit smaller than the plane, so it was a fairly small object. Upon entering Monmouth we looked back and the object was gone. We never saw it again.

Note: At first I thought that this object could have been a weather balloon launched from Salem, Oregon. However, the evening balloon launch would not have occurred until 4 PM PST (or later) so it is quite unlikely that the witnesses saw a weather balloon.
