It happened less then 24 hours ago. I'm from Israel and the thing occurred at January 21st at about 1:00 am. I don't know if we saw the exact same thing but the times sure are close. My friend and I were driving through an open road, the sky was very clear. We were both looking forward during the drive, suddenly appeard in the sky a thing we both thought at first to be a shooting star, yet very quickly the thing grew bigger while moving and looked like a very bright blue light(similar to a blue neon light), much bigger then a shooting star from our perspective, I might say that it even was bigger then the moon. It's dissapearence was sudden as it's appereance, it didn't seem to fade away or hit something, it looked like it was swallowed by something we were not able to see.
It's movement was diffrent then a shooting star's movement more like flying then like falling. it was very blue so it couldn't have been a meteor, and it didn't seem at all like a lightning of a flare. It looked like something from a science fiction movie.
We didn't hear any sound but we had loud music on so we can't tell for sure that there was no sound.
we saw the thing for 1-2 seconds.
Also the thing did not blind us and we were able to look straight at it.
My guess is that we saw the same thing only I saw it from a greater distance than you. My friend and I were amazed and baffeld, I don't think that this is anything ever documented by anyone.
I found this site where more people who have seen a bright blue light in the sky write about their expirience:
