Not similar, but unusual. New Years day evening about 11:30pm. I was looking out my window, saw what I thought was a star through the branches of the tree in the front garden. Looked down and then back, and saw the 'star' was moving out from its position. It then 'glided' past the front of the house (from South to North), still looking like a very large, very bright star; no sound. This 'star' was about the height that a helicopter might fly (about 500ft) up, maybe a mile away (?). Very unusual and doesn't seem to fit the description of usual UFO sightings.
