Date of Sighting: 18th July 2009
Time: 10.30pm

Witness Statement: Saw two glowing orange spheres traveling singly and separated by about 10 minutes heading west to east. They were spotted flying almost overhead from the back door of my house which lies about half a mile north of the River Clyde.

At a guess, both objects were flying level at around 2000ft and flying at about 100 knots. There was a slight westerly breeze, but certainly not of sufficient speed to blow a chinese lantern along. These things were clearly flying and maintaining a constant height and course.

I would estimate the object to be about 50ft in diameter. The appearance was that of a translucent sphere with a strong source of orange light contained in the centre of the object. There was no evidence of familiar aircraft navigation lights. What was interesting was, when the object passed overhead, the rear was unlit, but indistinct in shape.

Looking at other posts here, it seems I wasn't the only one to see them! This was unlike any aircraft I've ever seen.
