Time: circa 1.15am

Witness Statement: My wife and I were driving home from a party in the early hours of the morning of 21 June 2009 when I saw some lights in the sky to my right hand side. I pointed this out to my wife who saw them also and so I stopped the car and got out on the road and just watched them. There were seven lights in a fairly random formation moving across the sky in exactly the same formation. They were yellow white lights which at first I thought were hot air air balloons. It was quite hard to judge the distance they were away, but I would guess no more than 1 mile if they were hot air balloons. However, the lights were of the same intensity and there was absolutely no noise whatsoever; with hot air balloons you can always hear the gas burners being fired (I have been ballooning myself and we see many around where we live) and I would not have thought balloonists would travel in the dark; so I ruled out hot air balloons.

I then wondered if it was some aircraft flying in formation, but there was absolutely no noise. A jet airliner then flew over at a much higher altitude and I could hear that very clearly. So it certainly did not appear to be aircraft.

My wife and I watched the lights (bright orbs) moving across the sky at a gentle speed for between 4 and five minutes and then they just disappeared.

I was not fireworks or anything like that. The thing that was most noticeable was how they stayed in exactly the same random formation - in sort of line with three of four forming a cluster at the end of the line. It was most certainly something strange but quite what I do not know. Neither I or my wife have seen a UFO before and we repeatedly kept confirming to one another what we were seeing and agreed we would would report it as a sighting.

It was also very clear sky with some high altitude cloud around, but with many stars in view.
