Location of Sighting: San Acacio, Colorado (Southern Colorado in San Luis Valley)

Description: I saw a large flash of light directly above me. The light that flashed was about half the size of a new crescent moon curved and it appeared to be reset into the side of something. When the light flashed the light was moving due east. After the flash the light was heading north northwest. The light fades after about 8 seconds then lit up to full brightness again. The light was as large as my thumb at arm's length and the shape of a half crescent moon. The light was strange. It had a solid look to it as well cream white in color. It seemed to be reset into something like it was shinning off the side of something in the blackness.

The light was not strobing like jets do. It made no sound whatsoever. The light proceeded in a north northwest direction. As it flew away it faded out to complete nothing then would light back up in 5 second intervals then go dark for 5 seconds each time. As it did this it glowed in the half crescent moon shape. The whole sighting lasted 2 - 3 minutes until it was out of sight to the north.

This is the second time I've seen this type of unusual light. The light appeared to be reset into something and the flash was similar too. I thought I saw a deep space super nova type of light explosion and no sound. The last one seemed to be just about 5,000 feet above me with many reset lights. Strange!

Note: The person reporting this sighting is a certified MUFON (Mutual UFO Network) field investigator. His account has no conventional explanation. Some of the behavior of the light is characteristic of an Iridium flare satellite, but the change in direction observed eliminates this explanation.
