Looks like California hasn't been left off the list after all. Specifically, Los Angeles county, which has had its share of UFO sightings over the years. While most UFO reports have simple explainations, there are always a few that stand out, have multiple witnesses, and remain mysterious in nature. The only thing this examiner knows for sure, is there there a few types: witnesses adamant about a particular episode or sighting, die-hard believers and ruthless skeptics.

To each I hum My Wild Irish Rose (I recommend listening while you read). Paranormal stories are interesting; people love to read a good UFO story. Ufology is the longest running soap opera and here are the most recent UFO reports from the MUFON database that occurred.

The following details some of the recent local sightings as they are documented on the MUFON database:

Event: May 6, 2009 - West over Manhattan Beach, California (90266) saw horizontal short vapor trail move south and then stop and move north. Second object spotted in north west sky - orange fire ball that hung in air.
I was driving east on Gates in Redondo Beach, about to turn into my driveway when I spotted something very strange in the dusk Western sky. It looked like a large horizontal vapor trail that didn't vaporize. It hung in the air for a short time and then started moving south. At times it looked like the lowering sun reflecting off of a MUCH bigger object, as if I was just seeing a small corner of a stealth hidden blimp or other plane.

I called my brother, who lives a little further south and he went outside to look. His view was blocked, so he went inside and up stairs and confirmed that he, too saw something strange. He asked me to go get my camera, and I did. When I back came outside, the object had "shortened" in length and was now moving north. I was able to get some pretty bad footage of this. Right then, my brother said he saw something else in the north west sky. Sure enough, there was an orange ball with a vapor trail that seemed to be hanging in the air. I was able to get some bad footage of this too before the sky cleared.

This could just be a plane and a meteor, but we would like to confirm if others say the same strange things. The uploaded footage is small, I have larger sized footage."
Event: May 20, 2009 - Throbbing lights in the sky over LAX!
I woke up on May 20th at 4:30 , looked out my window and the sky to the south west above the clouds was a continuous light throb, not flashing but more of a throbbing in a 20 -30 mile area one throb per second. Let me make this clear it was coming from the top of the clouds not below and it lasted until 6:30. I would love to know if anyone saw this. It was right over PCH going to Manhattan beach from Playa del Rey, CA. I called channel 7 news and the police. The police finally got there when the sun rose and it was gone. The news... who knows. But that is how worried I was!

I did grab my camera to film it but I do not have very good night camera. If you watch the film I have attached several times you can see the sky throbbing,

I know this sounds crazy but I have not seen it since and I have been looking! Next time I will get in my car and go closer!"
Event: May 27, 2009 - Four unidentified chevron shaped objects were observed for twenty minutes over the mountains just to the north of the west side of the San Fernando Valley.
My wife, daughter, my daughter's boyfriend and myself were sitting in our backyard at 19:30 on May 27, 2009 when I noticed what looked like a black baloon at about 30 degrees in the northern sky. I stood up and focused on the object and asked my daughter to run inside and get my binoculars. I wanted to confirm that the object was just a balloon. A few minutes later when I looked at the object thru the binoculars I could tell that this wasn't a balloon. The object appeared to have a body and wings, but not like any aircraft I've ever seen. The edges of the object were fuzzy and appeared to be changing shape. Even when viewed through the binoculars, the object appeared small, and therefor, was very high up in the sky.

I asked my wife to get my digital camera, a Cannon 7.1 mega pixel Power Shot. I handed the binoculars to my daughter and quickly framed the object and started snapping photos. I used two settings, auto and landscape, and zoomed to the max 4x on the landscape setting.

While I continued to snap pictures, my daughter kept an eye on the object through the binoculars. She described what she was seeing as an object that was constantly changing shape and color. The sun was low in the western sky, and the typical sunset / smog effect in the LA area was causing the object to change colors from black to orange-red to silver.

Within a few minutes, three other object appeared in the same area of the sky. The objects appeared to be slowly rising higher and moving towards the north, away from us. The wind on the ground was maybe 5 mph blowing towards the south. There were a few cirrostratus clouds and the objects appeared to be at about the same height. Our best guess was that the objects were at 20,000 to 30,000 feet.

Our best guess was that the objects were about 15 miles to the north of us over the Oak Mountains, just to the east of Rocketdyne which is located on the Simi Hills.

The objects appeared to be hovering in place for about twenty minutes with only minor movement. Based on the photos and the observations through the binoculars, we all thought the objects were rising and moving slowly to the north.

At 19:50 the objects just disappeared from our view. We continued to watch for another 15 minutes, but didn't see anything else.

On a normal evening, we see commercial aircraft approaching the Burbank Airport. The commercial aircraft are usually flying at 3,000 feet as they pass our vantage point, moving west to east.

I'm attaching three of the thirty photos I took to this report. The first photo shows one dark object in the center of the frame and a commercial plane in the lower left. The second shows three unidentified objects in the same frame. The third shows two objects and a powerline in the foreground.

We are all certain that this was not a standard aircraft, neither private, military nor commercial. This was not a balloon, star or planet. There was no sound coming from the objects. We had no sense that the objects were attached to each other or flying in a formation.

Because of the height, it is impossible to say how large the objects were, but our best guess would be that they were larger than any standard commercial aircraft. Their movement, or lack of movement, indicates again that this was not a standard aircraft."
Event: May 22, 2009 - Big bright white triangle with flashing lights on the exterior.
I walked outside to get my baby monitor and noticed a large and bright white triangle in the sky with sparkling lights on the edges. I didn't think initially that it was a UFO because I'm not the type to look for them. I figured it was something affixed to the top of a far off building that was illuminated for the night, maybe for a party... but while looking and thinking I realized it was too large and too odd for that. Still, I didn't think it would move because it just was there for so long and not moving and not making any sound. It was north of Tarzana, where I was located.

So, I bent down to get the baby monitor and my iphone so I could take a picture, and when I looked up it was gone. I never saw it fly or move, just saw that the sky was once again clear.

This happened between 10 and 10:30 at night. I told my mother and mother in law when I went in the house. They were inside playing cards. We went back outside to look but it didn't come back, the sky was dark.

So, I'm not really sure what it was but all I can say is it was very large, bright and shaped like a triangle. We watched the eleven o'clock news hoping to see some report on it but there was nothing. It was too large and obvious not to be seen by many people so I'm wondering why I'm not reading of any other sitings?

Coincidentally, the next night we found my little cat dead. She had survived fine as an indoor outdoor cat for the last 15 years. We are certain she was killed Friday night, the 22nd. The same time I saw the big triangle. Our little cat was decapitated. Her head cleanly sitting on the lawn. There was no blood. Next to her, just a leg (partially eaten) just bone left and part of a foot. Again, no blood. There was also her fur. We are assuming an animal consumed most of her, we just found it odd that her head was so cleanly cut from her body... and because of that wondered if it was possible it was done by people. But because so much of her body was missing we figured she was probably eaten.

Anyhow, summing it up as one weird night, but that's what happened."
