Date of Sighting: May 24, 2009
Time of Sighting: 8 to 9 PM PDT (Exact Time Unknown)

Description: Our sighting occurred at dusk in Yakima River Canyon, Washington. A bright blue light came overhead. It was not as high as a satellite, but still very high. It was 20 times as large as any star in the sky. It slowly went over head and disappeared behind the trees. A few of us went out into the road to look at it and realized that it had completely changed direction. It turned at a looping right angle and started moving away from us. As we watched it, it started moving away very fast. It was very bright and could be seen for many miles, but it disappeared in less than 5 seconds. We have no idea what it could have been. It was huge, bright, changed directions, moved very slow and then moved very fast.

Note: The sighting doesn't fit the list of possible nocturnal categories (satellites, meteors, space debris, etc). Given the description I don't have an explanation for this sighting.
