An Unidentified Flying Object has been spotted flying over Llanfair Caereinion.

82-year-old David Jones was sitting outside his home in Llanfair Caereinion when he spotted a "funny looking light" in the sky on Sunday, May 31.

"It was just before midnight when I saw this funny looking light in the sky coming towards me.

"There was no navigation light and absolutely no sound at all," said the war pensioner.

"I got my binoculars out, I have a good pair of binoculars, and I could see this light coming closer towards me. It was a most weird orange blob shaped light.

"It wasn't terribly high either, maybe as low as 15,000 feet.

"It was nowhere near as high as the jets that fly over my house on the way backwards and forwards to Tenerife. I have never seen anything like this before but it definitely was not a balloon because of the way it suddenly shot off in a south west direction."

This is the third sighting of a possible UFO in the past month. The first were spotted over Newtown by Jackie Davies and Melissa Lewis Clubbe, on Saturday, May 9. Melissa, 17, captured the action on her mobile phone and the footage can be viewed on our website www.countytimes.co.uk

UFO investigator, Phil Hoyle, added: "Many sightings have been reported over the last few months in the Mid Wales area and I'd be very interested to hear from anyone with information ."
