The UFO Traffic Report for Monday, June 1, 2009, includes 12 selected sightings over 11 states, according to witness statements filed in the past 72 hours with the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) database.

Today's stories include: An interesting case where a man and his wife observe a glowing orange sphere hovering over Ohio's I-275 near Milford; a disc-shaped object hovering over Colorado's Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company; two more disc-shaped reports over Arizona and Texas; triangle sightings over California and Massachusetts; a cigar-shaped object over Michigan; a boomerang-shaped object over Phoenix, Arizona; and four unusual cases of Bright Light objects over Rhode Island, Illinois, New York, and Tennessee.

Please keep in mind that most UFO reports can be explained as something natural or manmade. If MUFON investigates and reports back on any of these cases, I will update this page.

The following reports and their headlines are unedited.

First up today is the case of a man and his wife driving along Ohio's I-275 south toward Milford, Ohio, where they saw a glowing orange sphere hovering in the sky overhead. The object - the size of a dime held at arm's length - appeared to be somewhere between 5,000 and 10,000 feet overhead. The man pulled his car to the side of the highway to observe this.

Ohio, May 31, 2009 - Wife and I pulled off I-275 (on shoulder) to watch orange glowing sphere hover for 2 minutes. Please see detailed description.

My wife and I (son was sleeping in car seat) were driving on I-275 South(east) towards Milford, Ohio, a suburb of Cincinnati. As I was driving south I looked up in the sky and a couple of miles ahead of me I saw a glowing orange sphere. I knew it was not a meteorite because I was driving for a good minute before I drove underneath it (and it was still hovering). I kept yelling to my wife in the back with the baby to look up and see it. She could not see it from her angle. I did not want to be the only person who saw this because the veracity of a sole witness is always a challenge. As we drove underneath the object I made the decision to turn on my hazards and hop on the shoulder. I have never pulled over for something like this before, as I have always been able to identify an object, until now. As I was slowing down I kept trying to look up and I almost hit the guardrail as I was pulling over. My wife yelled me to watch out. This did not make her happy since it was her car. As I stopped the car I opened the sunroof and said look! There it was just hovering above us. An orange glowing sphere. The time was 9:39pmEST. It was difficult to determine its altitude and relative size. She thinks it was "too high for a helicopter", but I think it was only about 5000'-10,000'. It was the size of a (small) dime. Of course you need to know the altitude to determine its actual size. It did not have any other colored lights on it. Just an orange glowing "sphere". I should caution in calling it a sphere as we were unable to determine if it was disc/egg shaped due to the glowing light. Sphere matches the best visual description. The light did change in intensity but it was a very small fluctuation and could have been our eyes playing tricks on us. My wife and I were going through a detailed Q&A trying to discern what it was. It was not moving, on any plane (X,Y, or Z). There were no conventional Nav lights or beacons, there was no noise except for the highway, and my wife complaining to get us out of there because I woke my son up and they did not share the same enthusiasm and excitement. I did not want to leave because I wanted to wait and see it move. I wanted to see its propulsion. Was it conventional or something unexplainable by our current understanding of technology? This would have filled in a great piece of the puzzle and possibly answered the question. Very frustrated, I decided to heed the wife's advice and get off the shoulder because we were not in a safe place on the road with traffic whizzing by us.

After safely merging back on I-275, I immediately called my mother's house to tell them to run out front and look to the north a few miles and up (they are on the highest development around and would have a perfect view). My stepfather answered my call and ran to the front to take a look. He saw nothing. We reached exit 59 within a minute (Milford Parkway) and looked to our right (north). You could see a great amount of the horizon and we saw nothing. We arrived home about 5 minutes later, then I made calls to friends and family and now I'm typing this report.

The credibility of the witnesses (my wife and I) are impeccable, as well as the intelligence and scientific backgrounds to make an unbiased observation. We are also well known and respected in the community. In addition I am an amateur astronomer and private pilot (not current) with exceptional knowledge of ALL active military aircraft in service (except of course current black projects). Three Colorado witnesses report watching a silent, disc-shaped, white object hovering over the Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company property in Jefferson County. The object appeared to rotate on its axis and float south. When the object turned northbound, it lit up "with an immense, white light, almost like burning magnesium." The object changed directions several more times, and they eventually lost sight of it as it headed north again.

Colorado, May 29, 2009 - White disc spotted over Lockheed Martin facility in Colorado.

We (brother, friend, and I) had been sky watching at Daniels Park, Lone Tree, Colorado (exact location: 39°28'35.11"N, 104°55'26.43"W) observing various conventional aircraft in the airspace around us. It's a beautiful, bluebird day; we could clearly identify the aircraft around us, and Daniels Park is secluded so we could hear what propulsion system they utilized. At 1:22PM MST I noticed a circular, white object to the west between the foothills and our location, situated directly over the Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company property in Jefferson County.

The property is approximately 5 miles south of Deer Creek Canyon Road and the junction of Highway 75 and S. Wadsworth Blvd. I first thought it was some sort of equipment on the side of the foothills, until it appeared to flatten out, or rotate to its horizontal axis, and float south (with the wind). I pointed it out to the group, and they thought it could be a paraglider, or hang glider, due to its fluid motions and its trajectory with the wind. It then came to a stop, hovered for +/- 1 min. and began to move north (against the wind).

When the object began moving northbound, it lit up with an immense, white light, almost like burning magnesium. At this time, there were not any aircraft in the airspace around us; we did not hear a sound emanating from the object. The distance between our location at Daniels Park and the foothills is 11 miles, and we could clearly make out its white disc shape against the very green foothills, thanks to the rain as of late.

The object continued northbound, and increased its elevation because we lost it for a second when it was between us and the snow-capped Mount Evans. When we re-spotted the object, it had changed its trajectory and was heading east, seemingly over Highlands Ranch and then to Aurora, when it began heading north. It continued north, and from our vantage point appeared to be between Buckley AFB and Denver International Airport.

We lost it in some clouds to the north and we did not see it again. I checked www.flightaware.com to see if any flights were active in that specific area over the Lockheed plant during the time of our sighting, and nothing was recorded.

A retired military witness and about 20 co-workers reported seeing 14 disc-shaped objects over Phoenix. They were stationary for about two hours, changing formation more than eight times; then they moved rapidly across the sky, stopped, and moved away.

Arizona, May 28, 2009 - 14 disc shaped objects high in sky.

While I was at work this morning myself and about 20 other co workers seen disc shaped objects high in the sky over Phoenix. There were 14 to be exact, they were stationary, other than the fact that they changed formation over 8 times while I was observing them. They did not move across the sky until 2 hours later when we observed them moving quite fast than all coming to a stop, and than moved again until they disappeared.

I have been in the military for well over 18 years (retired). What I saw was not a weather balloon as I have seen plenty in my lifetime while stationed around the world. These lights in the sky had intelligent moving about them and seemed like they were changing formations about every 15 to 20 min. I had my whole crew come to look at them as well as other employees at the warehouse that I work. We all agreed that the objects in the sky were odd and nothing any of us had ever seen.

A Texas witness saw a bright star-like object cover about 30 miles in two minutes - and then its light went out "like a switch was cut off." Looking through binoculars as it passed in front of the moon, he noticed that the object had a round shape.

Texas, May 30, 2009 - Super bright fast mover.

I was outside my home, taking out the trash and saw a bright star-like object at 8-10k feet. It first appeared approx 15 miles away in the western sky and passed directly over Dyess Air Force Base, object covered approx 30 miles in about 2 minutes with one course correction heading east southeast. The light went out like a switch was cut off while it was still bright and viable approx 15 miles downrange.

Many aircraft in the area with most traffic at about 30k feet, well above the object.The traffic at 30k was obviously commercial airliners out of DFW headed west to Phoenix and the west coast. Third sighting of this object so far. I have calculated the speed of the object at approx 8-900 miles an hour. Completely silent, no sonic boom and no reaction from Dyess Air Force Base. The most remarkable thing was it passed directly in front of the moon and with the help of my 10x binoculars, I saw the profile for a split second, it was round like a tennis ball! WEIRD!

A Tarzana, California woman stepped outside and noticed a triangle-shaped UFO in the sky with "sparkling lights on the edges." The large object was hovering and not making any sound. She looked away briefly for her camera phone - and it was gone. She also relates that her missing cat turned up on the front lawn that night - decapitated. We're not relating the two events, but we have heard stories recently about cat mutilations - similar to the cattle mutilations of the past.

California, May 22, 2009 - Big bright white triangle with flashing lights on the exterior.

I walked outside to get my baby monitor and noticed a large and bright white triangle in the sky with sparkling lights on the edges. I didn't think initially that it was a UFO because I'm not the type to look for them. I figured it was something affixed to the top of a far off building that was illuminated for the night, maybe for a party... but while looking and thinking I realized it was too large and too odd for that. Still, I didn't think it would move because it just was there for so long and not moving and not making any sound. It was north of Tarzana, where I was located.

So, I bent down to get the baby monitor and my iphone so I could take a picture, and when I looked up it was gone. I never saw it fly or move, just saw that the sky was once again clear.

This happened between 10 and 10:30 at night. I told my mother and mother in law when I went in the house. They were inside playing cards. We went back outside to look but it didn't come back, the sky was dark.

So, I'm not really sure what it was but all I can say is it was very large, bright and shaped like a triangle. We watched the eleven o'clock news hoping to see some report on it but there was nothing. It was too large and obvious not to be seen by many people so I'm wondering why I'm not reading of any other sightings?

Coincidentally, the next night we found my little cat dead. She had survived fine as an indoor outdoor cat for the last 15 years. We are certain she was killed Friday night, the 22nd. The same time I saw the big triangle. Our little cat was decapitated. Her head cleanly sitting on the lawn. There was no blood. Next to her, just a leg (partially eaten) just bone left and part of a foot. Again, no blood. There was also her fur. We are assuming an animal consumed most of her, we just found it odd that her head was so cleanly cut from her body... and because of that wondered if it was possible it was done by people. But because so much of her body was missing we figured she was probably eaten.

Anyhow, summing it up as one weird night, but that's what happened.

A Massachusetts witness reports a strange encounter that started with observing three green lights - about the size of softballs - about 20 feet apart and in the shape of a triangle. The witness was shortly surrounded by bright green light - and then it all just vanished. Afterwards, the witness noticed some missing items, and discovered blinking clocks inside, and lights left on had been turned off.

Massachusetts, May 28, 2009 - 3 green lights that were bright and the shape of a triangle.

I had just put my children to bed and around 11:30 I went outside on my deck to smoke a cig. I was standing there and about half way through my cig I noticed a green light reflecting in the water. I looked up and saw 3 lights about the size of softballs about 20 feet above the water. At first they were close together, I would say about 6 feet apart, in a triangular shape.

I stood there just looking at them for a second or so, then they spread apart and I'm not sure what happened after that because I was surrounded with a green light that was so bright I couldn't even see, I had to squint my eyes. Then it just vanished. I stood there. My cigarette and my small black lighter that was in my hand was gone no where to be found and I just walked inside. I didn't know what time it was because all my clocks were blinking. My computer wouldn't turn on and all the lights I had left on were out. They came back on after a few min.

I sat down on the couch not knowing what just happened. I wasn't sure if I should call someone or what so I tried calling my friend who is the founder of the paranormal society I'm in, but he didn't answer the phone. So I just ate some food and sat there all night, I didn't even go to sleep until morning and my children didn't go to school that day because I am a paranormal investigator, I have been for about 10 years.

I have never seen anything like this.It wasn't a plane. It wasn't some sort of light from a house and it was definitely not a ghost. What ever it was it scared the living [cms/tg/pd] out of me... (excuse my language) I want to move because I'm not sure what it was or if it's going to happen again. Tonight since I am all about proof, I am going to go outside and sit on my deck and see if it happens again, I have a camera and a voice recorder. But this time I'm not going to have my children home and I'm not doing it alone. This has never happened to me before so I'm pretty freaked about it.

A Michigan man and his son saw a cigar-shaped craft described as "a thin dark tube with tapered ends encompassed with white convex side edges." The object moved slowly in a straight line and was without sound or lights.

Michigan, May 29, 2009 - I saw a thin dark tube with tapered ends encompassed with white convex side edges.

My son called me outside at 8:34 PM to the back yard to look at a jet airplane traveling NE - NW when I saw a cigar shaped craft (a thin dark tube with tapered ends encompassed with white convex side edges) that moved slowly in a straight line 85 deg. N - NE in a clear blue sky for 5 - 10 sec > 1000 ft. without lights or any sound. The craft was ~ 1/2 inch at arms length and its colors (edges) were slightly transparent.

I went inside to get binoculars and lost sight of the object as it traveled NE when returning to the back yard.

A Phoenix, Arizona, witness saw a boomerang-shaped UFO over the central part of the city. This silent craft moved at such a tremendous speed, that it was out of sight in just a few seconds.

Arizona, May 29, 2009 - Seen a boomerang craft at high altitude. Appeared to be completing a turn moved away to northeast. Totally silent.

I seen a boomerang shaped craft directly over central Phoenix at what appeared to be a fairly high altitude.I perceived the craft to be very large. It was totally silent. It headed to northeast at very smooth high rate of speed, pretty impressive actually, and increasing speed was out of sight in seconds. I lost sight behind my tree. By the time I got up to get around tree it was long gone. I never would have seen it if it hadn't moved, it was camo'd by stars pretty good, but when I locked my eyes on it, it was obviously a boomerang shape with lights. In my opinion exactly like they describe on history channel. It reminded me of a ship flying on star wars or star trek. Was totally silent. LIGHTS WERE PLACED ON CORNERS AND MIDDLES OF WING FROM WHAT I REMEMBER. If our military cooked that up its awesome. AWESOME ONLY WORD FOR IT.

A Rhode Island man and several other witnesses watched a bright object enter the Earth's atmosphere at Johnston. It then appeared that the craft was headed toward Providence, then "it gradually inclined back upward into space." The witness also recounts other UFO sightings from this part of the country.

Rhode Island, May 24, 2009 - There was a storm on Sunday night before Memorial Day. I was outside around 9:10 pm and a craft dipped into the atmosphere, originating from the big dipper. It slowly passed over then gently elevated out of the atmosphere into space on a gradual incline.

I was outside sitting in my car smoking a cigarette, I was facing south in a parking lot outside my girlfriend's house. A storm had just passed overhead. The sky became clear and I could see the stars. This occurred in Johnston, Rhode Island right over the town. I was on Mill Street off of Plainfield Pike, a main road near the house! I look up for a split second and bam! There it is. It originated from within the Big Dipper. I clearly looked at the big dipper which is right over head in the sky at this time of year and at this time of night 930 10 pm. This really bright craft illuminated as if it was coming directly down from within the big dipper. It looked like a star at first, but then it obviously got closer to earth. It entered the atmosphere actually that is how bright this craft got. After diving in, it slowly traveled south heading for Providence, the main city in RI. It was a brief encounter only a couple of minutes long. After it reached overhead the city, it gradually inclined back upward into space. I followed it the whole way, how could anyone miss this thing. The glow of the craft slowly faded as it returned into space and it disappeared into the blackness of space. This isn't the only encounter that has occurred in my town and state. I have witnessed countless craft in the sky, some more amazing then others, but still as exciting. You just have to take the time to look up!!

My belief is that the craft showed up a little bit too late, it missed the electrical storm that just passed over Rhode island. It makes a lot of sense, lightning is an extreme power source, and that craft definitely needs an extreme fuel to travel across the galaxy or further. So I believe he was going to stop in quick to catch a quick recharge in the lightning storm, but just missed the storm and headed back out to find fuel elsewhere.

Please contact me as soon as possible, I have other sightings from the past I would love to discuss with someone. I witnessed on 8/8/04 a craft that originated from almost the same location as this one. It entered earth's atmosphere and hovered there for a good 5 minutes. Then I witnessed something I will never forget for the rest of my life. This craft took off at the speed of light, it left a huge blue arch in the sky. I followed the arch until it disappeared into a pin prick. This craft type is very common around here most that I have seen have originated from the same location and most of them where white hot and circular in shape. What I don't understand is how do they pinpoint earth, or not even earth they can pinpoint cities and towns. What makes them travel so far to earth, or Rhode Island for that matter. This sighting was a group sighting with my brother and 2 of his friends so other people have seen them and do believe. You just have to be patient and search the skies, or lucky for that matter. It's not every day you see something like this. I am a very honest person and would not lie about such a life changing experience. Please believe me, they are real!

An Illinois witness near Deerfield watched a slow moving, bright, white object crossing the sky. The object then began to increase in size - to three or four times its original size.

I had been visiting a friend in the town of Deerfield IL when I had decided to step outside to enjoy some fresh air. While doing so, I noticed it was a clear night and had been watching the sky when I spied a slow moving bright white object that then began to increase in size to 3 or 4 times than the size at which I had originally spotted it. At which point, it held its size and carried on through the sky for a while to then return to its original size and carry on out of sight.

The object was moving from the south headed northbound. It was star white in color.

I'm not sure as to what this object is or was, but after reading a similar mufon report, I had decided to post and who knows maybe one day all these reports will amount to something.

A New York witness watched two bright, shining lights in the sky. Once he made the sighting, they hovered for about 20 seconds. The first object then "went from a pea sized bright light to a grain of fine sand in less than a second." The second object remained a few seconds longer, and then disappeared in the same manner.

New York, May 30, 2009 - Saw two bright objects close to each other in the southern sky. One flew away at an astronomical speed, the other stayed a sec. longer and proceeded the same way.

I was taking my dog for a walk in the yard and I saw two bright objects in the sky....say if north was 12 on the clock, and south was 6 (30), they were at approx. the 28, or just about half way between the 5 and 6. At first when I saw them, I thought Venus or whatever, but never heard of another thing as bright shining in the sky, so I kept my focus on them. They could have been there or thereabouts much longer, but from the time I saw them....it lasted about 15-20 seconds of them staying still til one of them just taking off at a speed I never thought possible (up and to the south) as an example, it went from a pea sized bright light to a grain of fine sand in less than a second. The other one stayed for a second longer and then flew off in the same manner. There were no storms in the area, it was a clear sky......no explanation that I can think of??

And finally today - A Tennessee couple was observing a commercial airliner on approach to Nashville International Airport at about 2,500 feet. Right behind this craft, they saw another light about one-quarter mile behind the jet. Observed through a telescope, the object was described as grey/black, 20 to 25 feet long, about one-third the depth of the airliner cabin, with a bright, "diffused light underneath." The object also "appeared to have a clear gelatin-like shroud or watery cloud around it. It almost appeared to have an excitatory-static appearance as it flew through the air."

Tennessee, May 31, 2009 - Object appears, then follows commercial airliner into Nashville.

At 8:30pm I began setting my scope up for a night of sky watch. The sky was crystal clear and the temp about 79. I was finishing setup when my better-half stepped out and was saying something, then she said "look...a light just came on near that plane." I looked and saw a commercial airliner had descended it's approach from the west and was some 30 miles out from Nashville International Airport at an altitude of maybe 2500-feet. The light that she referred to was almost suspended in mid-air as the plane continued past it. I then saw this light slowly accelerate into an arc until it was now flying directly behind the airliner at 1/4 mile...at nearly the same altitude, and following at a slightly slower speed.

I quickly turned my scope on the plane to check the focus, which was dead on, and then back to the light which was following. I could clearly see that the object was grey/black, 20'-25' long est., maybe 1/3 airliner cabin depth, and had a bright diffused light underneath it. The light did not appear to be a projecting light, but an energy source light and very brilliant-white. Another peculiar oddity is that the object appeared to have a clear gelatin-like shroud or watery cloud around it. It almost appeared to have an excitatory-static appearance as it flew through the air.

I have seen this light several times this month in the same area of sky at night, but never this early in the evening. There were only a couple of bright stars out with the moon, and there was enough sunset light for me to recognize the plane as an inbound Delta flight.

This object that I witnessed @ 35x at a distance of 1-1/4 miles was not an airplane. It was nothing that I have ever seen before, and that's all I have to say about it!
