Thailand is not a UFO hot spot and sightings are not all that common in the area but the events of last Wednesday evening May 20 are baffling local police.

On that night at least ten people, living in the central district of Bangkok near the Chao Phraya River not far from the grand Palace, called local police to say they saw what appeared to be a hovering silver disc about the size of a small bus floating over the river silently.

The disc was described as glowing by some witnesses and others claim it eventually shot off into the air.

The Bangkok Police department has confirmed receiving the reports however some have speculated that the disc was in fact a helium-filled advertising blimp.

A number of witnesses are said to have dismissed this explanation as inconsistent with what they saw.
