The UFO Traffic Report for Wednesday, May 27, 2009, includes 13 selected sightings over 10 states, according to witness statements filed in the past 48 hours with the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) database.

Today's stories include: a cylinder-shaped UFO with lights on each end just a few hundred feet in the air over Kansas; a bright blue, round ball of light moving over Nevada; a brilliant light over Michigan with photos; a triangle UFO spotted over Connecticut; sphere-shaped objects over Arizona and Nebraska; interesting Bright Light cases over Oregon, Arizona, Washington, Nebraska and Pennsylvania; and a fireball-looking object over Ohio that seemed to attract the attention of helicopters and occurred in the same vicinity of a triangle UFO sighting reported on local news.

Please keep in mind that most UFO reports can be explained as something natural or manmade. If MUFON investigates and reports back on any of these cases, I will update this page.

The following reports and their headlines are unedited.

First up is a report out of Kansas where a witness out for a walk noticed a large object in the sky moving slowly in a straight line. The object had a large orange/yellow light on either end, a dark body, and no strobing lights. The witness estimates it was only a few hundred feet in the air and possibly a quarter-mile away.

Kansas, May 24, 2009 - Elongated Object with a single yellow/orange shpere at either end
Cylinder

I took a walk tonight to get some fresh air and at about 10:10 I came to an apartment complex which has a large radio antenna near it so there is a large clearing. I stopped to look at the stars (very few) and I saw what I assumed to be a satellite. It was moving from north to south so I watched it for a moment. To my surprise it disappeared from view. Just shrank into nothing. I thought this strange but continued on without giving much thought to the non-event.

Around 10:30 I looked up. Between the rows of trees on either side of the street I could see a relatively large object (seeming much larger than a plane) slowly moving from south to north in a straight line. It had a large yellow/orange light at either end and seemed to have a dark body in between. At first glance I thought it was a helicopter, but it had no flashing strobe lights or red lights that the helicopters I've seen usually have.

When I looked closer it was moving extremely slow, taking one or two minutes to cross between the trees on either side of the street. It appeared to be quite low and maybe a quarter mile away. From by best guess I would say no more than a few hundred feet in the air. I ran to a park which has few trees to get a better look at it in the clearing. I was only a few blocks away from the park but by the time I ran there the object had disappeared out of view.

It had no flashing identification lights and made no sound I could hear. I felt no shock or awe that is reported with many cases. I was in disbelief at having seen something like this. I tried as hard as I could to explain it away as an optical illusion or some known aircraft but I simply can't.

A Nevada witness out talking with a neighbor watched a bright blue, round ball of pulsing light traveling from south to north. The object made not sound and was estimated to be between 500 and 1,000 feet overhead.

Nevada, May 25, 2009 - Bright pulsing blue ball, passing overhead
Round

I was standing outside the front of my home speaking to my neighbor. I suddenly caught a glimpse of something bright overhead, and to the left of where I was standing. I immediately looked up and saw a round very bright blue ball of pulsing light. It was traveling from the south to the north. There was no sound. It was approximately 500 to 1000 feet in the air. As it was passing over the top of my house, I ran forward to try and follow it. Asking my neighbor "did you see that", "can you see it." It disappeared, or I just couldn't see any sign of it. It did not have a tail or after glow coma, etc. It did not change direction or appearance. I have no idea what it was.

A Michigan witness noticed a "brilliant light in the eastern morning sky" and snapped photos.

Michigan, May 19, 2009 - A brilliant light that looked like 3 lights bouncing off each other (expand and contract)

Driving to work at 4:45 am EST and noticed a brilliant light in the eastern morning sky. It was barely above the treeline / horizon, and I lost it going east. (The moon and other celestial bodies move east to west) this object moved in opposition to this.

I have no idea what this was, is or could be? (Ultra-secret) technology??? Who knows?

A Connecticut witness heard a "screeching" sound and looked out his window to see a very slow, triangular-shaped object moving across the sky. The object had three white lights and a red light - all flashing.

Connecticut, May 24, 2009 - Bright star like object. A solid light that did not blink, then faded out quickly while in motion

There was a very weird screeching type sound when a plane is very low. So as I am into planes I look out of my window and look out.. Waiting and waiting this VERY SLOW triangular object is flying out side of my house toward I think west or north.

The object was not well seen, but it had Four Lights. One Red that flashed and three white that I think flashed. Then I saw it tilt a lot towards the right and then the left...

I was pretty shocked and not scared when I saw it.

I lost its visual when it went behind a house and I was not able to see it after. My brother who lives with me heard it but did not see it. I am not sure if anyone else saw it.

A man and his son watched three sphere-shaped objects in the distant sky. When an airliner passed between them and the object, they estimated the object to be at least the size of the airliner's wing.

Arizona, May 25, 2009 - Three shiny pearl-like spheres at high altitude

My father came in from outside to tell me that he saw an object in the sky. I walked outside and barely made out a small white speck high in the sky. After several seconds I was able to make out another object next to the first, then a third. The object looked only like a small white speck so I decided to get out my reflecting telescope to get a better look. Once I found the objects again I focused my telescope on the objects. They appeared to be perfect spheres with a pearl-like quality but were very reflective as I could see the reflection of the sun perfectly on the object. They did not appear to be balloons as they were a perfect sphere with no tip and no shape similar to that of a balloon. Also they were stationary above the small town in which we live. As for size, I witnessed a passenger airliner pass between me and the objects, the diameter was the length of the wings but the object could be larger as it was behind the airliner and it could have been much further behind and above. After thirty minutes or so they began to slowly break from their loose formation and began to very slowly drift apart until I simply couldn't look through the telescope due to the bright sky and my eyes. They are still there as far as I know.

A Nebraska witness noticed an amber colored sphere moving west. As it came closer, the witness did not notice any sound. The silent object then made a u-turn in the sky and moved away.

Nebraska, May 24, 2009 - from 13th street looking up to the east a amber colored orb flew west silently and made a u-turn to head back east before disappearing into the clouds

After parking my vehicle in the driveway at about 10:15 p.m 06-24-09 I looked up to the east sky and noticed an amber colored sphere flying west. As it became closer I noticed it didn't make any sound. It made some sort of u-turn in the sky and then flew eastward. Unlike the lifeflight helicopter at Bryan West Hospital, it made no sound nor did it have any blinking lights. It was solid in amber light color and was very bright. When it ducked into the clouds, I could still partially see the bright object for a minute longer before it was absolutely no longer visible. Upon seeing the object I opened the door to the house and yelled to my wife that there was a ufo. We have seen another ufos in Lincoln about three years ago and did not report it then. This time I really didn't have enough time to get the camera focused on it. I tried.

An Oregon witness saw a non-flashing light in the country sky right above his home. He snapped a photo with his cell phone.

Oregon, May 23, 2009 - Non Flashing night light

Living in the country we get clear views of our local skies. On this night it was clear with no clouds. As I looked up, on this night, I noticed a non-flashing light flying right above my home.

The light was not high enough to be a plane and what I thought was stranger yet was that it made no noise as it passed over my home. Right after it passed over my home I took a picture using my cell phone. In the photo I sent with this report might seem to be a pic of nothing but black sky but I ask you to please use your computer to enlarge the pic and focus on the light. When you enlarge the pic, you will see a strange looking object. After the object flew East for about 5 min. the light just shut off.

It might be nothing but hope this might help in someway

A licensed pilot and retired air traffic controller and his wife observed a bright object "hanging motionless" in the sky along the northwest edge of Sun City West, Arizona. The object was described as a size of a nickel held at arm's length.

Arizona, May 19, 2009 - Observe large bright object in western sky at sunset .

We were walking South along the Desert Trails Golf Course in the NW edge of Sun City West, AZ. When we first observed (my wife and I) this large, Bright object hanging motionless in the western sky about 20 deg. above the horizon. You couldn't not notice it. It was larger and brighter than anything I have ever seen in the sky. The sun had just set and it was still very light out. To describe the size I would say it looked the size of nickel held between your fingers at arms length. Even though I knew it couldn't be a star, I looked to the Eastern horizon and no stars were yet visible. At around 7:50 PM It was still there as we turned east to return home. There was nothing in the news, on radio or TV. I am 79 years old, was an Air Traffic Controller in the USAF for 18 years. I was also a licensed pilot with private/commercial/multiengine/instrument ratings. The sky was mostly clear with a few low thin clouds.

A group of people at Salmon Creek near Vancouver, Washington, watched a very fast-moving object crossing the sky in a "swerving" movement.

Washington, May 24, 2009 - Very bright star that moved from east to west at an extremely fast pace. Had it been a jet it would have left vapor trails and noise, but it was silent and clean, it wasn't a satellite because it was at low flying altitude and it was swerving

We watched the large star object move from the most western horizon to the most eastern horizon within a minute or less--it was moving very fast--freaky fast. I'm an experienced enough sky watcher to know that it wasn't a satellite because the object was swerving and was flying at a lower altitude. The object was an extremely bright/large object in the night sky that wasn't blinking but it was swerving--can't express that enough--it was swerving, not at a fixed orbit or flight path.

Didn't make a sound, didn't leave a vapor trail, it just booked really fast across the sky. Faster than a jet, faster than a satellite.

I watched it fly over Salmon Creek from Vancouver, Washington.

1. we were celebrating my birthday as a family at my Aunt's house. I spotted the object after my younger cousin (18) pointed it out--I was drinking, but she was completely sober and spotted it first. Five other people saw it and everyone came to the conclusion that the object was extraordinary.
2. We noticed the object because it was moving across the sky at a speed that made us feel uncomfortable because we have never seen anything move across the sky so fast.
3. Initially we entertained the idea that it was a jet plane, but nobody could see any blinking lights on the object, and it didn't make a sound or vapor trails.
4. The object moved in a straight line but swerved from side to side as it made it's way across the sky. Zig zagged across the sky but in a controlled way.
5. Everyone who experienced witnessing the object was perplexed to explain it--everyone marveled at how fast it moved over us without leaving vapor trails or sound. Before it disappeared the consensus among us was that it was indeed a UFO.
6. It kept traveling east toward eastern Washington. Everyone watched it until it disappeared beyond our vision on the eastern horizon of our sky. And this was the scariest point of the observation, this object was capable to travel from one horizon to another within a minute, a minute. It was remarkable among everyone who witnessed it.

Four witnesses in Nebraska watched what they thought was a satellite move across the sky - but they now believe it was too quick and too slow. They also point out it had no blinking lights.

Nebraska, May 24, 2009 - Bright light moving west to east with no sound

At about 10:30 p.m. Us and our two friends were outside smoking and looking up at the stars, when my husband saw this bright light, thinking it was a satellite. So we all looked up and realized it was moving to quick to be a satellite. It was very low, lower than a high flying aircraft. It had no blinking lights, like an airplane or helicopter, and it was completely quiet. We continued to watch it go off to the east and all of a sudden it was just gone, like someone turned the light off. Me and my girlfriend didn't know what to think, and my husband and her boyfriend couldn't quit staring at the sky, waiting for it to come back. We didn't know what we just saw, but we thought it was crazy.

Four family members who were camping in Gifford Pinchot National Forest noticed a very bright object moving across the sky with no navigational lights.

Washington, May 24, 2009 - Very bright star-like object traversed sky rapidly

My wife, daughters and I were camping in Gifford Pinchot National Forest Sunday, May 24th. We went for a walk about 9:45-10 p.m. that evening. On the way back to our campsite through the camping area, I happened to look up through the trees and saw a very bright object moving quickly across the sky. I pointed it out to my wife and daughters, and we agreed that it was extremely bright, moving fast, and had no other aircraft navigational lights on it. There was no jet sound, either - even well after it passed from view beyond the steep ridge surrounding our camping area. I had not checked a compass earlier that day so I can't be certain as to its direction but it seemed to be moving from west-northwest to east-southeast. The thing that stands out the most was that it was very, very bright - probably two to three times as bright as the brightest star in the night sky.

After watching some odd lights in the sky, these Pennsylvania campers looked directly overhead to see a bright object the size of a dime at arm's length.

Pennsylvania, May 22, 2009 - Two star like lights moving in formation

While having a family campfire and sky watching, noticed to the North-West of my location a very bright light that dimmed after around 3 seconds, then a second bright light,a distance away from the first brightened for around 3 seconds and then dimmed. The lights were much brighter than plane landing lights and much higher altitude. It appeared the lights were moving away so I thought nothing more about it. About 3 minutes later, I looked directly overhead, and saw a very bright single white light, about as big as a dime at arm length. The light dimmed and then I noticed two lights following each other about two inches apart, at arm length. The lights were on the same course from the initial sighting moving South East, slightly faster and about the same brightness as a satellite and at a high altitude. My 23 year old daughter, whom is in pharmacy college, also witnessed the two lights overhead. She claimed to have witnessed the lights start to rotate around each other, I did not witness this. They continued toward the South-East into high cloud cover.

Four witnesses near Mason, Ohio, saw an orange fireball in the sky for about 10 seconds. They then noticed helicopters moving in that direction and other unusual air traffic. The witness notes that their local Channel 12 news reported on a triangle UFO over Lebanon on the same night. Mason is just south of Lebanon.

Ohio, May 24, 2009 - Fireball with a tail in eastern sky

We were sitting out by a fire(4 of us) when I noticed the fireball. I was looking up at the sky, to the east, and initially thought it might be a falling star but as it continued I realized that it was orange and lasted too long to be a star. My next thought was a meteor but the last meteor I saw was white. It was orange, shaped like a ball with a tail. It was falling down. I yelled out to my friends "What is THAT?" We all jumped up to get a better view because it dropped out of sight due to the tree line. I would say it was visible for a good 10 seconds. One person was able to see it split into two parts. We also noticed helicopters flying towards it and heard lots of unusual air traffic about 20 min. after it happened (so much so it prompted a drive out in that direction which yielded no further information). We thought it might have been a plane wreck. I came home tonight and watched the local news and was interested to see a report of a UFO last night in the same general area (this one was 3 white lights in a triangle shape, covered by channel 12 news and shot with a cell phone). This footage was shot over Lebanon, Ohio which is north of where we thought the fireball and helicopters were (our estimate was that this event was over Mason, south of Lebanon)
