The UFO Traffic Report for Monday, May 25, 2009, includes 16 selected sightings over 10 states, according to witness statements filed in the past 72 hours with the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) database.

Today's stories include: A giant triangular-shaped UFO over Georgia accompanied by three helicopters; five more triangle UFO sightings over Connecticut, Maryland, Texas, Michigan and Pennsylvania; a strange case of a teardrop-shaped object that came out of a Pennsylvania building and moved skyward; disc or oval-shaped craft over Connecticut, Washington and Michigan; a cigar-shaped UFO moving into a cloud over Florida; and four odd Bright Light cases over Michigan, Washington, Virginia and New York.

Please keep in mind that most UFO reports can be explained as something natural or manmade. If MUFON investigates and reports back on any of these cases, I will update this page.

You can read my selected cases by type of UFO report at the UFO Traffic Report index page.

The following reports and their headlines are unedited.

First up is a most interesting case out of Georgia where the witness was drawn to the window with the sound of helicopters approaching. It took the witness a little while to put the puzzle together - first noticing a bright white light blinking, then a red blinking light, and then another red light. Finally, all three lights remained on and revealed the shape of a giant triangle moving slowly overhead - with three helicopters nearby.

Georgia, April 12, 2009 - After loud helicopters passed, HUGE, dark triangle hovered very low over mine and adjoining townhouses, hard to see, finally saw 2 red and 1 white lights, moved off very slowly.

I would like to inform you of a sighting I had on April 12, 2009 (Easter night). The time was 9:50 p.m.

I was upstairs in my bedroom watching TV. (My bedroom is in the back of my townhouse.) I heard some really loud helicopters in the distance, they were so loud I figured they were military choppers. I occasionally see/hear military helicopters because of Dobbins AFB. I have a habit of running to look at them when I hear them. On Sunday night the sound of the helicopters appeared to be louder than the other times. For some reason they were taking a longer time to get to my general area. I decided to go and open the blinds to my window and wait for them to pass over my home.

I have a limited view of the sky due to tall pine trees. I scanned the sky and trees to my right and left waiting to see how many choppers were passing me. As I looked to my left I noticed a bright white light that was blinking on and off. I then noticed a red light blinking on my left, I couldn't understand because I was waiting for these helicopter to show up. I turned and looked on my right (a good distance) and I see another red light! At that point the white light and both red lights stayed on, and the complete shape of a triangle was in my view! (It was going very, very very slow!!). I realized that I was viewing this thing from underneath it as it passed over my house, the bottom was just above tree level (very low)!

Once it passed (very slow pace) I was able to see the whole back side of it. It appeared light in color maybe light gray, I couldn't tell the height of it but the distant between the back corner red lights gave me the sense that this thing was beyond big!

There were a total of 3 helicopters, one flanked on each side of the triangle and one behind it. The helicopters didn't appear to be chasing this triangle but more like pacing it. I heard no sound coming from this triangle, no interference with my TV. Also, the flight pattern was odd because planes don't fly over my house at all. I don't see any planes traveling parallel with Holcomb Bridge Rd. heading toward GA 400/Roswell area!

I can understand why it took a longer time for the helicopter to fly over me, because of slow the speed they were going. Slow, Slow, Slow!!

A Connecticut witness heard a quiet rumbling-vibrating noise outside, and then saw a large triangular craft fly directly overhead with three brilliant, bright white lights - one on each corner.

Connecticut, March 29, 2009 - Giant triangular aircraft flies directly over my house.

It was late at night on March 29, 2009. I was lying in bed, trying to go to sleep, when I heard a quiet rumbling/vibrating noise outside.

I had previously seen a UFO on March 19 (the report is on MUFON if you want to check it out), which had made a quiet rumbling/humming noise. I quickly made a connection between the sounds, and leaped to my window to see what I could see. I searched the night sky, hoping to see something intriguing. After a few seconds, I saw a large triangular craft fly directly overhead. It approached me from behind, and apparently flew right over my house. It had 3 brilliant, bright white lights (1 on each corner). After about 5 seconds, it slowly turned left and flew out of sight. I was indoors, and I wasn't really able to see it after it turned left, so I ran outside, but by the time I got there, it had disappeared.

Strange things have been happening in the skies over my area. Besides the triangular UFOs, I've noticed an increased amount of air traffic in my area, including an abundance of contrails, commercial planes, and this weird helicopter with some red and white lights that's been flying over my house recently.

I hope that someone can catch this thing on video or something before it just disappears.

Editor's Note: Following is this witnesses previous UFO report from March 19, 2009

Connecticut, March 19, 2009 - Triangular aircraft flies extremely low, then flies vertically, then flies directly over me.

Early on the morning of March 19, 2009, I was walking my dog down the street. As I looked ahead, I saw what appeared to be a plane taking off, although there are no airports in my area. It seemed to be flying at a height of about 250 feet, in an eastward direction at about a 30 degree angle. It seemed strange, but I didn't pay much attention to it until I saw it make a dramatic climb in altitude. It went from flying at a 30 degree angle to flying at about an 80 degree angle. It was practically flying vertically, and it was climbing altitude rapidly. After about 5 seconds of flying, it had probably risen to a height of about 600 feet. Then, it gradually began to level - off. It took about 3 seconds for it to get level again. Once it was level, it slowly turned left and headed north towards me and my dog. It banked, and its triangular shape became apparent. Unsure of what this thing was, I started to run back home to tell the rest of my family, so that they could come and see it. But, as it flew closer, I decided to stay and watch it, because it was so fascinating.

It was probably flying at around 70 miles per hour. As it approached and passed overhead, I was able to see its underside. It was clearly a triangular aircraft. From my point of view, the object was about the size of a baseball, and all three sides of the object were the same length. It was black or gray in color, and it had one small white light on each corner (which made 3 white lights altogether), and one small red light in the center. It continued to fly north, and I watched it until it disappeared behind the trees. Throughout the entire flight, it made a low whistling noise, similar to a quiet "whoooosh" sound. It sounded similar to the sound that an airplane makes as it moves through the air, but I didn't hear the humming of an engine. The entire experience probably lasted about 1 minute.

A man and wife driving in Maryland noticed an odd object hovering just above the trees. The object formed a triangle with three white lights at each point. When they turned to get a better look at it, the object disappeared.

Maryland, May 21, 2009 - UFO sighting by Montrose Ave.

My wife and I were driving to go to Montgomery Mall, and just made a right turn coming from Tower Oaks Blvd to Montrose Ave. and to take the 270 S. exit.

I then pointed out to my wife an odd looking object (driver side) hovering just above the trees. I initially thought it was just a plane. But, looking at it closer, it was definitely clear that it was something different.

The unidentified flying object had 3 white lights from each point of what appears to be triangle shape object; it also has a flashing red or amber light in the middle.

The object was just hovering and not moving at all, and without making any noise. It also looked like it was a bit tilted to the right side. I then made a U-Turn from Montrose Ave. that we can see the object even more, but right after we made the turn, the object disappeared.

A Texas witness noticed a huge "multi-level" triangular-shaped UFO silently hovering in the sky. The object sat in a vertical position with "white orbs" illuminating its three points.

Texas, May 23, 2009 - Triangle multi-leveled object hovered over Highway 7 east for 15 minutes, then it disappeared.

I was in my front yard searching for my cats to bring them in for the night when I located my female cat who was looking up at the sky. So I looked up and to my amazement, a huge multi-leveled triangular object was hovering in the sky. I have never seen an aircraft that even looks remotely similar to this object.

The object was in a vertical position in the shape of a triangle with white orbs illuminating its 3 points. The object was silent as it hovered. I stared at it for a few minutes before I went inside to get my binoculars. Viewing the object through the binoculars, I noticed an alternating red and green pulsating light in each white orb. After I had been looking at the object for about 10 minutes, a small white orb quickly shot out of the left side (my left) of the object. At this point, I was wondering if I should call 911. I then walked to the property next door to get a different view of the object. This view revealed a silver cylinder rotating clockwise in the middle of the object.

The object remained motionless and silent for 15 minutes before it just disappeared before my eyes. The event caught me by surprise, but it was exciting until the white orb shot out of the object. At that point, I became concerned for my safety.

This Michigan witness first saw two orange or dim red lights in the sky on two objects that appeared to be a short distance apart. As the objects passed over, the two lights on each changed to three lights, forming a triangle shape.

Michigan, May 18, 2009 - Two lights on each craft then turning to three lights like a triangle.

It was Monday May 18, 2009 when my fiance, a friend and I were sitting outside on our porch in the hot tub. We were all talking and I looked up at the sky to see if I could see the stars that night. I remember I noticed something coming out of the east side of the sky there were two orange or a dim red looking lights on two different aircraft. I pointed this out to the others I was with and started joking around about being happy about not being on that plane. There was clearly two crafts and they were a short distance apart. That's when I realized that they didn't look like airplanes at all. My Fiance said that they had to be airplanes, although there was no flashing lights or anything that would look like a normal airplane. It was completely silent. We sat and watched them silently fly over us and as they did the two lights that were on both of the aircrafts turned into three lights in the shape of a triangle. It lasted for about 10-15 minutes. They just stayed the exact same distance apart and changed lights at the exact same time. When I finally couldn't see them anymore it was because they were out of my viewing area. I remember sitting there and just watching this happen not wanting to take my eyes off what I was seeing.

More UFO coverage from Murrysville, Pennsylvania, with this latest sighting summed up by two interesting witness-produced videos.

This very odd case of a teardrop-shaped UFO is also from Pennsylvania. The witness first heard a rumbling sound coming from a closed plant building. The sound increased to painful level, a bay door opened, and an object emerged that was 8 ½ feet x 10 feet, and hovering 3 to 4 feet off of the ground. The object then made a 90 degree turn, lifted to 20 to 30 feet, paused, flashed 15 seconds of a series of red, gold, and blue lights, then turned 90 degrees to become horizontal to ground. It then turned to the southwest, moving slowly, and shot off.

Pennsylvania, May 22, 2009 - Tear drop rose out of the old axel building.

I was on my route today when I passed within 1000-1500 feet of the old Allegheny Axel building, when there was a small rumbling coming from the plant and since the plant had been closed for a few months I had figured it was just some of the local goth scene doing one of their LARP games in the plant when the rumbling increased to a ear paining level. Then sections of the old bay door had opened and judging by the size of the bay door I would believe the object was at least 8 and 1/2 feet wide and 10 feet long. Hovering about 3-4 feet off the ground, it came out of the bay horizontal before it made a lazy 90 degree turn to the sky and lifted about 20-30 feet high and then paused, flashed a 15 second series of red, gold and blue lights before it turned 90 degrees again to become horizonal with the ground and then slowly turned towards the south west and started to slowly move forward before it shot off.

One neighborhood homeless person approached me and asked if I just saw the tear of god leave. This was roughly 10 minutes later

This Connecticut witness first saw what they believed to be a low altitude airplane with an orange glow. Then with binoculars, it looked like a disc or oval shaped object with an orange fireball around its mid-section. This silent object then gained altitude until it was lost to view.

Connecticut, May 23, 2009 - Saw what appeared to be an aircraft on fire.

My wife and I were sitting on our porch looking out at the lake when I noticed what first appeared to be a low altitude airplane with a huge orange glow to the middle of the object. We got the binoculars because it appeared to be on fire. Upon further inspection it looked like a disk or oval shaped object with an orange fireball around its' mid-section. It wasn't the typical flame that trails an object losing altitude, rather this object gained altitude fairly quickly and the fireball seemed to surround the object in a HUGE spike-like fashion. My wife believes she saw a pulsating white light, however I did not witness this. There was absolutely no noise involved. The object, over the course of the next minute or so, continued to gain altitude until we lost sight of it behind the clouds. We wondered if this could possibly be some type of missile but quickly dismissed that idea. All we know is this was not any type of aircraft we're familiar with. We're still completely in awe of the whole event.

In Washington state, this witness observed a very bright oval object on the western horizon at approximately 3,000 to 4,000 feet. The object passed over with no noise, appeared to slow down, and then faded out.

Washington, May 22, 2009 - Very bright oval object, no sound and moved steadily through our sky, dimmed and extinguished. May 22, 2009 10:38 PM.

On May 22, 2009 at 10:38 PM in Centralia, WA we saw a very bright oval object appear on our west horizon line, traveling W-E at a steady pace at what appeared to be approximately 3000 to 4000 feet in the air. It passed our home making no sound at all and then it appeared to slow down as it approached a hill, then faded (started dimming) to a pale yellow then extinguished, as if one was blowing out a candle. This entire event took place in five minutes. We looked at it through very high powered binoculars and looked for strobing lights, red lights, a comet tail, fire, anything to explain that it was an aircraft, satellite, meteor, etc.....it had none of these descriptives. It was nothing like we have seen before.

When we noticed the object we were in our back yard, putting away our telescope when we noticed the object thinking it was a very low flying plane. I ran for the binoculars and was able to capture it in the view finder. No distinguishable shape other than the oval light. No blinking lights, no colored lights and no sound. We were trying to figure out what it was, and then it simply disappeared before our eyes, prior to the hill it was approaching. It seemed that it needed to extinguish it's lights before approaching the hill. (?) Then we saw it "blow out" and couldn't see the object any further.

Our feelings? Very confused! We wanted more than anything to explain what it was, and that's frustrating because it's like nothing we have ever seen. We have no military testing bases anywhere near us, there is a small airport but this object had no strobe light or sound.

Whatever it was it was flying very low to the ground, as we said, 3-4000 feet.
We are curious if anybody else in Lewis County, WA saw the same object?

Another Washington witness saw a very bright oval/sphere object about the size of a dime in the sky that moved from behind and above a row of trees about 100 to 125 yards away. The object was 500 to 1,500 feet up and moved west to east in a slow up and down motion.

Washington, May 22, 2009 - UFO makes low fly 2nd appearance after first sighting.

I was sitting on my back porch with my wife and her cousin around 10 pm. I noticed what appeared to be a bright satellite (moving at a similar speed to a satellite from south to north). I said wow, that cant be one, its too bright, maybe its the space station or the space shuttle. Then the light dimmed as I said that and disappeared entirely. From the beginning to end the diameter was as large as Vega in the beginning and as small as a pin prick when it vanished.

15 minutes later I was in my backyard with a friend, and as I remembered the sighting. I told him emphatically how weird it was to see something so bright and know it was not a plane. At that moment, he said "like that?" I turned around (facing west towards Lake Washington) and a very bright oval/sphere object about the size of a dime in the sky moved from behind and a above a row of trees about 100 to 125 yards from our position. He then said "That's not a plane!" I agreed and proceeded to become nervous because I had the feeling that it knew we knew about it and once I said something it had appeared. It stayed in plain sight above the tree line at 500 to 1500 feet up. I have lots of aircraft fly over from large airliners to small float planes and traffic Cessna's so determining the height was very easy. It moved west to east in a slow up and down undulating motion that almost seemed to be playing with my line of sight as I ran to the corner of my yard to keep it in sight.

As I took up another clear view, it suddenly dimmed itself out into an ever smaller ring that went from the brightest white light I have ever seen to an orangish brown ring the size of what I can only describe as a needle point.

I took a very poor cell phone video of the sighting, but it is like I said poor.

I have never seen something so big, so low and SO QUIET. I have a witness, and he will attest to this as well.

A high altitude disc-shaped object was seen over Michigan. The witness said the object did not move at all and just hung in the air. The object got smaller and finally vanished.

Michigan, May 19, 2009 - very brilliant disk shaped silver/white.

I was driving with my boyfriend to University of Michigan for an oral surgery appointment, we were on US 23 north going to our exit. I just happened to look out our front windshield and was talking about how beautiful a day it was, there were hardly any clouds, only a few vapor trails from jets and barely any haze. It was a perfect day. Then it was just there, it had to be at a very high altitude it looked small, there were a lot of planes in the area and you could tell they were definitely planes. The ufo however did not move at all and just hung in the air, I watched it intensely and was screaming at my boyfriend. We just watched it as long as we could until it disappeared. It just vanished. It looked like it got smaller to almost like a point and was gone. The same night my brother also witnessed an orange/red ball of light in the night sky probably around 11:15 pm outside his work, his roommate also witnessed the same object on his way from work, these two sightings took place in Coldwater, MI about an hour and a half south of Ann Arbor.

The Florida witness in this case noticed no wings or windows or markings or tail fin on this cigar-shaped object. The object was flying low enough that the witness could make out its silver color and non-airplane characteristics. It flew into the bottom section of a cloud and disappeared from view.

Florida, May 23, 2009 - Long, silver, cigar shaped object flew into cloud and didn't come back out.

My husband and I were driving south on Starkey Blvd in New Port Richey between Decubellis and Seven Springs when I happened to glance up toward the sky through my windshield. I saw what I, at first, thought was a plane but, upon closer inspection, I saw no wings, no windows, no markings and no tail fin like all airplanes have. This object was flying low enough that I could clearly see it was silver in color and had no other characteristics of an airplane. It was too big to be a small aircraft yet, smaller than a commercial aircraft. The craft was flying from west to east.

As I watched, the object flew into the bottom section of a cloud just a few thousand feet above us to the south. I waited for it to come out the other side. The cloud that this craft flew into was tall but not very wide. Any airplane would have come out the other side in just 3-4 seconds. This did not. It just disappeared into the cloud. Unfortunately, my husband did not see it and I had not mentioned it until the object neglected to appear on the other side of the cloud.

This is only the second time I have seen something that I cannot identify. Both sightings have taken place in the same area within the past 2 months.

It's hard for me to believe that no one else saw this object yesterday.

In Michigan, the witness saw a bright light at the tree line that was described as the size of a nickel at arm's length. This silent craft was flying east toward Marquette and faded in size.

Michigan, May 23, 2009 - Bright white light, almost light light blue, flew noiselessly into the distance.

I was playing a Donkey Kong video game while sitting on my couch near the window which faces south. I caught a glimpse of a bright light to my right, the south, in the tree line of a maple tree. At my vantage point of the couch the light and halo was approx nickel sized at arms length. I yelled for my girlfriend to follow me outside to see it, as I ran out in my boxers, it just kept flying very smooth in an East direction over the city of Marquette until it faded to sand grain size over the old harbor of Marquette on Lake Superior. I definitely felt in awe of the object I had seen up close and then as it moved away my girlfriend acted a little out of the ordinary and said she felt "creeped out", or that it was "creepy out in the dark", though when asked shortly after her feelings and reactions, she said "I felt like I was being watched". However, I felt nothing out of the ordinary, just impressed.

Beautiful.

A very bright white, slow moving, light was seen moving overhead by this Washington witness. The silent object was heading west to east at a level of about 1,000 feet.

Washington, May 23, 2009 - Very bright light came over the house, never seen a light like it very bright and quiet

Went outside to smoke a cig, around 9:20 p.m, saw a very bright white light slowly moving overhead heading west to east. The front was very bright, underneath was very bright, and behind it was very bright. It looked like a star in the night sky but it was like maybe a 1000 feet above me. No sound, very cool whatever it was? From beginning of my sighting to end was maybe 3 minutes. I'm listening to the scanner now airport and police haven't heard anything. Whatever it was and how low it was I was expecting to see some kinda flashing lights like a aircraft has. The whole thing was bright white. ??????

In Virginia, a witness first noticed a bright star in the eastern sky. But then the witness noticed that this object was moving. It was described as the color of a white star in the sky, but with no twinkling or strobe effect visible. The object was moving very slowly and parallel to the ground. It finally dimmed in brightness as though it was a distant star in the night sky.

Virginia, May 11, 2009 - A white colored light like a bright star at first, then dimmed to like a distant star, traveling slowly, parallel to the ground, silent and several miles distant.

The following is the account of the sighting as written by the field investigator of the sighting.

The witness was at home sitting on the front porch of his house which he usually does often to look at the night sky for aircraft coming and going between the nearby airport and military base. At 22:18 he noticed what at first he thought was a bright star in the eastern sky. The witness then noticed that the light was not a star, but a moving object. The color of the object was the same color of a white colored star in the sky, but with no twinkling or strobe effect visible from the object, as it was just a continuous solid light. The witness described the size of the object to be about the size of a bright star in the night sky. The object was described by the witness as moving very slowly and parallel to the ground. After the witness observed this object moving southward for several seconds, the object immediately, and with no change in heading or elevation, had dimmed in magnitude of brightness down to about the size of a really distant star in the night sky. (See attached sketch drawn by witness and photo taken by me at the location.) The witness stated that the object was visible about half of the way down from the zenith of the sky. The object continued to travel southward with no further change in brightness for about a minute to a minute and a half. The object remained visible until the light of a streetlight in front of the witness' home to his right had started to obscure the object and then it had become invisible from the light pollution after that. The witness stated that this was not a shooting star, satellite or any type of aircraft which he was familiar with, as he was in the US Air Force for eight years and has been interested in aviation since he was very young.

A big bright light was spotted over New York skies moving very slowly in a west to east direction. The witness described it as a white, solid ball of light. The light then faded away until the witness could no longer see it.

New York, May 24, 2009 - Big bright light then disappeared.

Me and my girlfriend were taking a night walk. I was just looking up at the sky because it was so beautiful out...every star was shining in the sky. I then noticed a big bright light in the sky moving very slowly in a west to east direction. This light almost looked like a close...very bright white star. It obviously was not a star...because it was moving, and it was definitely not a plane. There were no wing lights flashing...it was a white..solid ball of light. As I was watching this light, it suddenly began to fade away very fast till I couldn't see it anymore. Just to mention...we saw a similar light the night before that behaved the same exact way. I would love to have taken some pictures of them...but I didn't have access to a camera at the time.
