The UFO Traffic Report for Monday, May 11, 2009, includes 10 selected sightings over six states, according to witness statements filed in the past 72 hours with the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) database.
Today's stories include a brightly lit object the "size of a subdivision" over Georgia, a "highly reflective and round" object over Florida, a "small, round, metallic" object over Florida, three shiny objects flying over Arizona skies, a white ball of light heading west over Florida, a series of odd lights near one Virginia man's home, more peculiar lights over Phoenix skies, two separate cases of bright objects over Michigan skies, and a fireball-like object in Colorado.
Please keep in mind that most UFO reports can be explained as something natural or manmade. If MUFON investigates and reports back on any of these cases, I will update this page. You can read my selected cases by type of UFO report at the UFO Traffic Report
index page.
The following reports and their headlines are unedited.
First up is a story out of the peach state - Georgia - where a witness saw a huge brightly lit object that he described as the "size of a subdivision." The object had very bright red and white lights all over it. This 3:15 a.m. sighting occurred as the witness was driving in Norcross near the intersection of Peachtree Corners Circle and Holcomb Bridge Road.Georgia, April 25, 2009 - Huge, very bright red & white--lit object over road close to my home, Norcross, GA. This account summary is being entered by GA Asst State Director Ralph O. Howard, Jr. because the sighting was reported directly to me (Howard) via a temporary 1-800 line installed as part of the investigation of a sighting associated with another nearby case. The narrative is based directly on and is close to, the audio recording from the 800 line.
I was driving home from my girlfriend's, coming north on P'Tree Industrial Boulevard. Time about 3:15 AM. I took the exit for P'Tree Corners Circle and as I go onto that road headed north, I saw a brightly-lit something straight ahead, at a distance, above the trees. I thought it was a fire truck or rescue truck, I'm thinking "what the heck is that?" I kept an eye on it as I kept going, it was getting brighter as if maybe I was getting closer.
It was huge, the size of a subdivision, with very bright red & white lights all over it. I couldn't see a shape, it was dark and the lights just too bright. Finally, not believing this at all, I just brought the car to a complete stop. This was just before the intersection of Corners, with Holcomb Bridge Rd.
I got my head out of the driver side window and got a good look at it. I just could not believe the size and brightness. It began or had just begun, to move, headed SE like towards Doraville. I turned right to get over to my house to get a camera but when I came back to that spot, it was gone.
Another driver - this time in Florida - glanced out his window and saw a "highly reflective and round" object at about 2,500 feet, moving south, at approximately 400 mph - and the size of a "VW minibus."Florida, May 7, 2009 - glanced out window of car, saw object, tried to figure out what it was, it disappeared! My wife and I were on our way to a doctors appointment. While driving North by North East on Mitchell Blvd, I looked out of my driverside window and saw an object that did not automatically fit the description of anything I had ever seen before. It was highly reflective and round. It was smaller than a blimp and moving pretty quickly. It was approximately 2500 ft in elevation and moving to the South at approximately 400 mph. I started to point it out to my wife and it disappeared instantly. I am unsure of the size of the object. If I had to take a guess, I would say it was the same size as a VW minibus. Another side note; It made no sound and left no contrails. (there were several contrails still hanging in the air from normal air traffic.)
It made me feel curious at first and then when it disappeared I felt a little disappointed because I could not figure out what it was.
Another Florida report describes a "small, round metallic" object that maneuvered around an airplane and then hovered over some trees.Florida, April 22, 2009 - Small round metallic object flew around plane and then hovered above trees.I was traveling toward hwy. 98 on Blue Angel Hwy. and I saw something that looked like it was going to collide with a plane. I became very anxious at this sight and tried to figure out what it was. At first I thought it was two planes, then I realized the other object was too small. After that, I thought it was a bird, but quickly realized that this object was not shaped like a bird and didn't have the movements of a bird. As I drove closer to the intersection I could see that this thing was round and looked like it was maneuvering around the plane. My five year old commented that it looked like someone kicked a ball up there and it couldn't come down. I even thought maybe it was a balloon. One of the mylar balloons that's shiny metallic. There's a small airport called Ferguson's Airport further down Hwy. 98 and the plane turned and took off in that direction. The object stayed straight and just went the opposite direction in a very fluid movement across Hwy. 98 and hovered over the trees once it was a little distance across the hwy. I was completely amazed at what I was seeing and unable to figure out what this object was, so I pulled into the gas station on the corner of the two highways and stared at the object hovering above the trees. It was shiny and seem to be blinking or something while it was there. I have no idea how long I sat there staring because I was afraid that if I turned my head I might lose it and might never know what it was. All of the sudden I was staring at the object and then somehow it was gone! I have three children and the only one who saw this thing was my five year old who sits in the middle of the back seat with the best visibility.
Three shiny objects were observed over Arizona skies by a couple taking some down time at a park in downtown Tucson.Arizona, May 9, 2009 - Three shiny objects over Tucson, AZ.On Saturday May 9th 2009 at 1630 my wife and I were at a park in downtown Tucson, Arizona. It was a bright sunny day with no clouds. We laid down to enjoy the day and we both spotted a plane flying over head. It was a normal passenger plane. We are near an Air Force base and an International airport. My wife and I are under a pine tree. The plane disappears into the branches, and then we spot a very small yet super shinny object up In the sky. It seemed to be higher than the plane and further away. The plane crossed between us and the object in our field of view. The object was stationary. I thought it was an astronomical event, maybe Venus shinning very brightly for some odd reason. So we did not try and find the plane after it flew over the tree we were under. But neither of us ever saw it again.
The UFO stayed in its position for approximately 15 minutes. After a while we both had taken our eyes off of it, only too look back to its location and not see it there. Instead it was heading northeast at a decent pace, blinking like a light. Its speed was maybe a little faster than a cruising passenger plane. However we could not judge its altitude well. It flew too far away and out of sight for us. We did not have a video or picture abilities with us. My wife and I were surprised and proceeded to try and interpret what we had saw.
Then after we were digesting what we had seen, we looked back up and she spotted two more objects that were the exact same luminosity and size. They were floating very slowly in the same direction as the previous one. They floated away over a period of ten minutes and out of view, however they never blinked or sped up. My wife and I did not spot anything else that day.
A white ball of light moved west in this Florida report.Florida, May 9, 2009 - a white ball of light made strange movements over my houseI was on the computer and my sister called me out because she thought her mom was seeing something weird in the sky so I walked out poolside and there she was looking up and saying something. I said were is it? She said, "it's gotta be a satellite cause it made an S shape and it moving so fast" and I look up and see a ball of bright white light and it looked like a planet in the night sky but a lot bigger and its started to curve to the north west (it was heading west) and I thought I should video tape this because no one will believe me. So I ran back in and got the camcorder and stood off my deck and video taped for about 4 seconds a big white ball of light. I reviewed it this morning and there's no landing lights or any structure to it. There's just the ball of light. I basically remembered everything I could. It had to be a piloted craft because it changed direction and it didn't have a comet tail so it wasn't stuff burning in the atmosphere and there was no apparent structure to it at all. If you would like the video just email me and also it seemed really high in the air like it was a satellite. That's the only thing I haven't ruled out. But satellites don't change direction as much as this thing did or make S shape patterns in the sky. At least I don't think they do, but I don't have the direction change in the video. I just have it heading off into the distance and you can't really see that.
Witness identified as "Kevin," has seen a series of odd lights near his Virginia home as described in this report. He focused on a recent bright white light traveling southwest when "it went dark" - another similar report we are hearing lately - where the UFO's lights seem to go out like you were turning a light switch.Virginia, May 10, 2009 - Weird lights in the night sky around my house.Hi my name is Kevin and at 5:30am Sunday May 10th, 2009, I was outside smoking a cigarette, when I looked up from the corner of my house and saw a bright white light traveling south-west from my property at big Tumbling Creek, outside of Saltville, VA. This very bright light did not flash, flicker, nor pulsate. It was a constant light. The really strange part is as soon as I started to really focus on it, it went dark!! It was as if it realized I noticed it and shut it's light off! I've been a avid skywatcher for some time now and I know what planes and etc. look like and the types of flashing lights on different parts of the planes and helicopters. This was no conventional aircraft. It was lower to the ground than lets say an airliner, made no noise. What's really strange is around this time last year I witnessed something very similar, last year I was fooling with a sensor light on the side of my house, pushing the sensor upwards with a broom stick because its high up at the eve of my roof and I saw a solid white light, a sphere or globe, etc. It was halfway between a airliner flying height and the ground. It was huge!! If you put a nickel at arms length up to the sky,...that was the size of it!! Uust a solid white light, it was round or a sphere, I couldn't tell. It made no noise as well. It flew right over my head (which was when I noticed it) and it flew north-east. I watched it till it went over the mountain range which took I'd say 10 to 15 seconds but, it felt like forever seeing as how I was fascinated and shocked watching it!! Both times I haven't had a camera ready. My camera doesn't take good pics at night skywise, but it would have taken a good pic etc. of the time last year since it was so bright! It was almost like watching the moon flying by!!! NO JOKE. This report probably is all jumbled and out of order, lol sorry about it, I'm just excited at the moment seeing it just happened a few minutes ago lol.
Last year I had witnessed 2 other things a few days after the initial sighting. I tried to take a pic of it but it didn't take. One was something pretty big and was down in the valley floating towards the other mountain. There is no way a plane would be down at around 100 to 150 feet above my neighbors house. I live in a valley and the 2 mountains are wayyy too close for that. It was silent as well. It had numerous lights on it that didn't blink, they were yellow in color. Then a week or so after that I rode up the road from my house to a pop machine in a campground close by and as I turned around I noticed something orange in color right above my house! It was no more than 100 feet. It floated towards a hill close by my house and disappeared in the tree line. There was no noise as well. The peculiar thing with that one was a minute or so after it disappeared in the tree line I saw some sort of aircraft come from that way, heading back the other way. When I saw it I heard it. But, it made no sense. That left me truly confused. It almost looked like a flare, which maybe it was, but I only say that because of the color and it sort of looked like a firey light. But how it went from one thing and then turned around behind a tree and was I'd say 50 feet higher and made noise I don't understand. That probably made no sense, I'm sorry but it's hard to explain at the moment.
An Arizona witness was watching a ball of light in the sky, but with binoculars, the object looked "saucer or slightly cone like." Arizona, May 9, 2009 - I watched a light pulsing with vibrant colors hover over the city then disappear in a flash of light...At around 9 "o" clock may 9th 2009, I went onto my back patio to smoke a cigarette, (from where I live I have a clear view of the city lights of Phoenix). What actually drew me to the object is because I had seen it in roughly the same part of the sky the previous night.
On that night, (may 8th) I watched it hover and pulse vibrantly on the horizon for about an hour or two. In that time frame I saw 20+ planes (mostly Non commercial or helicopters) fly past it, near it, or circle it.
I watched it for what seemed like ages and it progressively got dimmer as if it was flying away tremendously slow and eventually disappeared...that's how my may 8th sighting ended... Also I want to include a strange phenomenon I experience...when I tried to take a picture of it. First I was struck with its appearance what to me looked like one ball of light pulsing green and blue and red appeared in my camera's viewfinder as a string of 5-6 separate lights that would flicker on and off dimming out and back on in separate seemingly undetermined intervals with very little color (occasional pulsations of vibrant blues greens and red).
I COULD NOT photograph this object, I took pictures of my house and the sky elsewhere to verify my camera was working and still could not get a picture of it. But anyways, today I was watching the same light as it hovered there barely moving just like before, pulsing vibrantly just like before, but this time I ran and grabbed my binoculars,
When I looked at it in focus it looked like a saucer or slightly cone like object, with a red light floating above a florescent, blue-green ring of light. I watched it for about 45minutes and then it disappeared in a quick burst of light...{hard to describe it was like nothing I have ever seen}. I went inside and after 2minutes of siting felt compelled to continue watching the sky.
I decided to climb through my window and stand on a flat section of roof for a better view, and not 1minute after I got out there I saw an orange ball of light come shooting across the horizon, (by far the fastest thing I have ever witnessed in motion). As I watched in awe, it screamed across the sky from out by Red Mountain to South Mountain in less than 1 second flat, as it neared the center of my view of the city (near the airport I believe) I saw another light come shooting out of the sky at an even faster speed. It is so hard...to find words to do it justice but it appeared out of nowhere, higher in the sky than I have ever seen a plane and in a split second and with a streak of light it shot down to where the other orange light had just abruptly stopped and started hovering. The two lights hovered there for about 2 minutes before they started dimming out slowly like they where getting farther away.
After about 5 minutes of them dimming, I could not get a glimpse of the objects at all and came inside to look for a phone number or place I could report my sightings. I've been a very avid pursuer of answers in regards to UFOs and the Phoenix lights. I would very much appreciate it if you could contact me back at my email or cell phone with information on how to get involved in the tracking in study of UFOs. I hope my information is of use to you.
Bright lights are spotted heading northeast in this Michigan report.Michigan, May 10, 2009 - It had a brilliant bright light had no sound at all.I was sitting in my chair watching a TV show and I looked outside and saw a bright object go through the sky at 10:00 p.m. exact. My dad tried taking a picture of it and couldn't capture it. We saw it in the lens. It was heading north east and suddenly went east and disappeared.
Another Michigan report includes three bright lights in the sky.Michigan, May 10, 2009 - UFO starsIn a 33 min. time span I witnessed 2 separate lights that appeared to look like stars and a third that my wife got to witness. There were planes and jets flying around and were all very distinct except for these star like objects that seemed to be flying a greater speed than jets and planes. The first 2 objects came into sight at different times in different locations both traveling west to east. The 3rd object witnessed by my wife and I was traveling south to north, first coming into sight in the same vicinity as the first 2.
And finally today, a "fireball-like object pulsating in the sky" over Colorado.Colorado, April 19, 2009 - The object had a fireball like shape and it was glowing and pulsating.I came outside to my patio to smoke a cigarette at around 10:30 the evening of April 19th. As I exhaled the first time I gazed to the west sky and saw this fireball like object pulsating in the sky. I began staring at it trying to figure out what exactly it could be. As I stood there gazing at it, it looked like it was coming closer to my location. The object seemed to move around and be coming closer to me. The Pulsating of the object became very hypnotizing and really drew my attention. After about three or four minutes or so it seemed to faded off, I then went back into my apartment to tell some company I had been entertaining what I had just saw, they just brushed me off and said I have had to much chardonnay. I really wish I had grabbed my camera as it was back in my apartment with my guests who were using it at the time. Thank you for your time. [cms/tg/pid]
