The UFO Traffic Report for Monday, May 4, 2009, includes 11 selected sightings over nine states, according to witness statements filed in the past 72 hours with the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) database.

Today's stories involve four Bright Light cases - one includes video and another with a single photo. There were also four cases of Orange lights in the sky - two of those were at the tree line level. Two cases of triangle UFOs - where the Pennsylvania report states that the object was at or under 500 feet. And a report out of New Mexico of a domed-shaped object with a flat bottom.

Please keep in mind that most UFO reports can be explained as something natural or manmade. If MUFON investigates and reports back on any of these cases, I will update this page. You can read my selected cases by type of UFO report at the UFO Traffic Report main page. The following reports and their headlines are unedited.

Four cases of Bright Lights in the sky. This first report from Arizona is described as a dark, solid planet-looking object that was reddish brown in color.

I was out in my yard when a strange feeling came over me as if I was being watched. I then went in the house and got my camera and just started taking photos of the sky.

I couldn't see or hear anything but their was that feeling that I had. Later on I was looking at my pics when I notice this thing in the clouds.

A star-like object appeared over Alabama eight to 10 times, according to this witness. Read the original report first, and then watch the video below. It's a little shaky.

Alabama, April 28, 2009 - Starlike object moved around the sky changing colors appearing and disappearing.

Around 2:00 A.M on 4/28/09 a friend and I were visiting on the balcony of a condo in Orange Beach, AL. It is located maybe two hundred yards East of Perdido Pass on HWY 182 near the AL/FL border. The balcony faces the NE.

As we were talking, I noticed what looked like a very bright, white star low in the sky to the NNE. It caught my eye a few times because it was so bright, but otherwise it didn't seem too unusual. We could see the sky very well that night/morning and it just looked like a really bright star amongst many other stars.

Maybe the fourth time I noticed it (over about 30 minutes) I saw it descend rapidly for a pretty good distance.(maybe from about 50 to 30 degrees in just a blink)

It looked like a shooting star, except it just stopped on a dime and hung there unchanging for at least a couple of minutes before fading into a reddish color and "blinking out" (see below).

When I saw it "fall", I told my friend and ran inside to grab a camera. Then we both watched it sit in the sky and disappear. The video camera is new and I didn't know how to operate it very well, so I was unable to document the first sighting.

Over the next half hour or so we saw it appear and reappear in the sky 10-12 times. The first 8-10 times we saw it, the object would usually initially appear to be a bright star moving slowly in the sky. Most of the time it was moving very slowly from E to W or was stationary Then it would change colors and then just disappear or dissolve.

We saw it turn blue, white, green, red, orange, and yellow (at least).
Sometimes it would change colors instantly, other times it would sort of rapidly blink different colors. When the object disappeared, it would turn a dull red color and sort of dissolve.(see the video)

We heard no noise, but it appeared to be very far away.

The object would appear for 30-60 seconds each time before disappearing.
(*note - The first time I saw it before it "fell" it was sitting in one place for about 30 minutes)

The last two times we saw it, the object initially appeared as just the dull red color. It behaved the same as before except that it appeared to be moving up in the sky.

When we saw the object we didn't know what it was but figured (or at least hoped) it had a US military origin. At the beach there is a lot of air traffic in general and we are very close to Pensacola Naval Air Station. Also, hours earlier on the 27th we saw a number of military aircraft flying over towards Pensacola NAS.

Even so, what we saw is certainly not something either of us had ever seen before and we both spend a lot of time in Orange Beach.

The video is very, very shaky because it is hand held and super zoomed in. The object is only moving slightly west to east or stationary...not jerking all over the place. You can see the object "blink out" two or three separate times. The last one is the easiest to see.

The video is in two parts that were recorded about ten minutes apart. Other than trimming out parts, nothing has been done to alter the video. It has sound, but only of us talking, so I took that out.

I was able to capture the object only three times as I was new to the camera and I was having trouble getting it to focus on the object because it was so far away. I was unable to record the last sightings because the red was too dull for the camera to pick up/focus on.

The camera used to capture the video is a Sony Handycam DCR-SX40 with a 60x optical zoom. All of the video is zoomed in all the way. All of the settings are factory...I assume.

So to recap, It first appeared to be in the sky beyond Bayou Saint John in the general direction of Arnica Bay / Josephine, AL. It stayed in approximately the same 1/8 of the sky, but appeared/reappeared seemingly at random in all different parts of that 1/8th. It stayed in a range of approx. 60 to 20 degrees.

The UFO hung around in one general area for about 30 minutes, then fell rapidly for some distance, then just randomly disappeared and reappeared in different parts of the sky for about 30 minutes until finally reappearing as just a red dull color and moving slowly from N to NE for about 10 minutes until blinking out for good.

A Washington, Pennsylvania, witness is reporting two circular lights in the sky moving in a circular motion.

Pennsylvania, May 3, 2009 - Two vague light type objects flying in a constant 360 degree circle clockwise and counterclockwise.

I arrived home from visiting with friends, a few minutes from my home. I exited my vehicle and walked toward the front door of my home, approximately 50 feet from the driveway. I observed two circular lights in the sky above my head. The lights continually circle 360 degrees, meeting half way in between, and turning clockwise. When the lights meet again, they continue counter-clockwise. I have never seen anything like this prior to tonight. Furthermore, I have observed low flying helicopters around my home to this date, and I wonder if the helicopter activity has anything to do with this current activity.

The objects are still continuing. I am not afraid, as I do not believe in extraterrestrial activity, but I am very curious as to what experiments/projects may be in progress in my area. Furthermore, I attempted to take photographs and video, to no avail.

Another Pennsylvania witness describes this as a "distinct symmetrical, shiny, silver, metallic object." The witness was driving north on Main Street in Bradford at the time.

Pennsylvania, April 27, 2009 - Saw a shiny, metallic, acorn shaped object hovering against deep blue sky.

April 27th, 2009, I was driving north on Main St. in Bradford, PA at around 3:30PM. It was an un-seasonably hot sunny day and the sky was a deep blue with a few sparse wispy white clouds. I looked to my left, out the driver side window and saw a very distinct symmetrical, shiny, silvery metallic object hovering motionlessly in the western sky. My first thought was that maybe it was a helicopter because it was just hovering there and not moving, although its perfect symmetry and chrome-like appearance did not make that seem likely. The only way I could describe it would be that it was shaped like an acorn or upside down bell with the wider end up. I looked later on the internet for photos of "acorn shaped UFO's" and was surprised to find that they were not that uncommon. The only difference was that the pictures that I found showed the object inverted, with the wider end facing down. I continued to watch the object for about 15 or 20 seconds and then to my amazement, it just faded away into the blue sky over the course of 4 or 5 seconds. That's when I was convinced that I had seen a UFO. Weather balloons or helicopters don't just disappear right before your eyes.

Four stories now of Orange Lights in the sky. This first report is out of Indiana where the object moved just above the tree line.

Indiana, April 30, 2009 - Orange sphere in southern sky.

I was laying on the couch watching the Chicago bulls game and it was just into the first overtime that's why I put approximate time I believe it was between 9:00 and 9:30. We have a window that faces the south the blind was up and the window was open. A bright orange light just above the tree line caught my attention. I watched it for about ten seconds and it disappered. I just kept watching. All of a sudden it appeared higher in the sky. That got me off the couch I went to the window and watched. It was like someone shut off a light switch and it was gone. By this time I am thinking that this did not look like a plane light or a star. I then went outside and stood out there for about 10 minutes. At this time my girlfriend who had been watching TV in the bedroom came to the door and asked what I was doing. When I told her she laughed and said get in the house. I walked up on the deck and looked to my right. There it was again. I yelled Debbie hurry there it is. She got there in time to see it before it disappeared. When it did another one came on. We both stood there watching and then it disappered. My girlfriend acted a little uneasy after she witnessed this and went back in the house. I stayed out there about 5 more minutes but I didn't see anything more. When I went in I asked her what she thought. She just said probably some kind of plane. I said not like any plane lights I have ever seen and not a planet, they don't turn off and appear in other parts of the sky

A Vermont witness reports seeing three orange lights.

Vermont, April 29, 2009 - Three orange objects.

My friend and I were sitting on my balcony when I noticed a strange bright orange light moving slowly in the southwestern sky. I brought out my telescope to investigate. I was able to look at it through my telescope for a few seconds at a time before it would pass out of view. It appeared to be a perfect spherical structure with some sort of legs. I don't think it was giving off any light, instead I think it's glow was reflected light from the sun, so it must have been very high up as the sun had already set a while beforehand. It followed an odd path about the southwestern sky, sometimes moving faster than others, before it faded away. It was soon replaced by another closer one (or perhaps the same one?) which moved in a similar manner through the sky and was soon joined by another. After a few minutes they both faded. I watched for more but saw none, however, a few minutes after the last one had vanished my friend and I (and another friend who I had called to watch in case another thing appeared) saw a pair of some sort of fast moving but silent planes in that area of the sky whose lights blinked in a way unlike any planes I have previously seen.

Another report of an Orange Light just above the tree line - this time in Virginia.

Virginia, February 8, 2009 - Bright orange light hovering then disappeared.

It was three A.M. and attached to my room is a balcony which faces due west. I walked out on my balcony to urinate and due west just above the treeline I saw a very bright orange light hovering. It hovered for approximately 5 minutes and then slowly went below the treeline in the distance where I could no longer see it. Before disappearing it was dead still and very bright no flickering or pulsing or anything. I found this very interesting as I am a believer and wish the government would stop lying about many things to us.

And this final Orange/yellow light over New Hampshire might be a fireball.

New Hampshire, May 1, 2009 - Bright orange/yellow glowing light-low level 'bouncing' & erratic flight at treetop level.

While in bed, @ 11:02PM 5/1/09 I watched a yellow orange glowing ball cross in front of my slider from South to North (curving to the East) at slightly below tree level. Initially, I thought it was a small plane trying to land at Pease AFB, but, on reflection there are too many discrepancies:

1) There was no sound.(Windows slightly open)
2) The plane was moving very fast and erractically.
3) It seemed to bounce (mostly downward) fast.

I lifted my head up up to follow the path, which, if graphed, would have shown a gently sloping, gliding arc to the north, which then curved to the east towards Pease AFB, but: it slowed, dropped and sped up during it trajectory. I could even see the glow behind the trees often. It's speed was variable.

I came home this afternoon and got back into bed to check the visual sightline in daylight hours and realized that it was not as far away as I originally thought, but instead smaller than a Cessna single prop plane. Apparently, it flew up the Squamscott river, down Great Bay and approached Pease AFB from the East.

I checked to see if there were any other reports of this object in the local news, but it's low flight path, time of night and lack of population in this area, as well as it's apparent speed caused me to be the only observer.

Half asleep, it registered as odd, but, I did not get up to follow it's path through the windows at the foot of my bed, as the trees are closer and higher there.

If you would like to discuss this further, there are good Google maps around my address which to re-create the flight path and apparent distance away. Second floor bedroom, with an apparent 8 degrees above the horizon with a river created tree line for distance calculation may help detail this brief sighting.

I have no desire to file a police report or report this to the local news, as, even though I have interest in these things, I have no desire to be labeled. I don't drink or use any mind altering drugs or medications at any time.

Two cases of triangular-shaped craft today. This first report from Fairless, Pennsylvania, Bucks County, includes sounds "like a quiet jet," which you don't hear too often with the triangle sightings. The traditional three points of lights are there, and the object, like so many others of this kind lately, is flying at or under 500 feet. The Pittsburgh UFO Examiner, Rich Sanner, has an interesting series going now on triangle UFOs.

Comment: You can read the two-part series here (part 1) and here (part 2).

Pennsylvania, May 2, 2009 - Triangle.

Flying triangle. Sounded like a quiet jet. Lights on the points of the triangle. I thought I saw a vertical stabilizer from the rear of the triangle once it passed me. It was flying pretty low maybe 500 ft. or less. I could still hear it for a long time after it was out of site.

I pulled up to my house at 602 Iva Ln at 11:38PM Eastern time. As I stepped out of my truck I saw what I thought was just a plane flying at me from the north-east. But it caught my eye because the light configuration seemed different than what I'm used to seeing. So I stood in the street and watched it as it flew over my house from North-east to South-west. As it got directly over head I could see from the bottom the craft appeared to be a solid triangle with lights on the points.

A second triangle report, this one from a Detroit hotel room window.

Michigan, April 29, 2009 - Triangle with moving stars.

Hi,

I regularly visit Detroit Michigan on business.

This week I stayed at the Westin ,1114 Washington Blvd.

I got a room that overlooked the Canada border and on Wednesday night (04/29/09), I was working at 10:30 in the night and I happened to look into the sky from my windows.

I observed these strange triangular lights. At first I thought some helicopters might be flying.. but then I observed that the light on the top was stable and the lights other two lights were moving very quickly ..

I observed them for more than 20 minutes.. and then it suddenly struck me that they can take me away... so I closed the blinds.. and called by husband.. then he asked me to check if they were still there.. I found them there again and I closed the windows...

And finally today, this report of a domed-shaped object with a flat bottom, comes from New Mexico.

New Mexico, April 20, 2009 - Sighted object near Chaco Canyon, New Mexico.

This is a report of a sighting I had on Monday April 20 2009.

I was on a road trip from Oklahoma to California traveling on Interstate 40. On Sunday the 19th I left Oklahoma late in the afternoon and drove to somewhere within the borders of New Mexico that evening. Found a small motel checked in went to sleep. The next morning I woke up, gassed up, cleaned my windows and continued on toward my destination at approx. 7am. I was still on the far eastern side of NM and was had a long day of travel ahead of me so I found what I thought was the best coffee in town and hit the road.

I had been on the road for probably three to four hours and was getting close to the western borders of New Mexico; in fact, I was at mile marker 62 or 63, just enjoying the ride and the scenery when I happened to look toward the northwest. I noticed a bright object in the direction I was looking and focused my vision on it. At first I thought it might be a hot air balloon, having just watched a documentary on them on PBS just a few days before, but the object wasn't shaped like a balloon. The object was shaped like a dome that was slightly short of a half circle. It had a flat bottom to it that was shaped like a tear drop on its side, with the pointy end facing toward my right. I approximate that I was looking up at a 20 to 30 degree angle, through my windshield.

There was a plane in the far distance coming toward me from the area of NW Arizona that was within my field of vision as well, evidenced by the con trail it left in its wake and a large mesa off to the right that was parallel to the highway. The craft was slightly above the mesa in clear blue sky.

The object was bright metallic silver, as pure a color silver as I've ever seen. There were no other distinguishing marks other than the bottom which appeared white and which for the briefest of moment seemed to phase out of distinct characteristic form and then back in.

I had been looking at the object for a matter of probably six seconds and had to turn my attention back to the road to make sure I was still traveling in my lane. Convinced I was ok I looked back to where the object had been and it was gone... completely.

Within a couple miles of the sighting was an exit off the highway. I took it and got out of my car to investigate further. I couldn't see anything but several airplanes with the con trails left in their wake.

I later exited at another off ramp to ask if there was any historical significance to the area and I found out that right there was the entrance to Chaco Canyon, the residence of the now extinct Anastasi Indians. I thought that was interesting.
