Cyprus sweated through its warmest April since records began, according to a weather service announcement.

Across the island, temperatures averaged above 30C.

The figures show that the unusual temperatures peaked at 39C on April 23.

The good news is that the weather is returning to normal, with averages of around 26C expected today in coastal areas.

Meanwhile, it's been confirmed that the island saw only 50% of the predicted rainfall during October, adding to the headaches of the water Development Department.
