State health officials reported the fourth human case of West Nile Virus this year.

The latest victim is identified as a 49-year-old Medford man who became ill at the end of last month and remains hospitalized.

Of the four human cases diagnosed in the state this year, three were exposed to the disease in Massachusetts.

The state Department of Public Health urged people to continue taking precautions against mosquitoes bites while outdoors and remove standing water.

The threat remains until the region experiences the first killing frost.

New Hampshire health officials also announced today that four new mosquito pools have tested positive for Eastern Equine Encephalitis in four towns close to the Massachusetts border. They include Brentwood, Fremont, Kingston and Newton, New Hampshire.
