Today is the 39th anniversary of UN Security Council Resolution 242. This resolution was passed following the war in June 1967 in which Israel invaded its Arab neighbors after claiming it had been attacked. This excuse never seems to fail. It was also the war in which the Israelis, fearing that the US government would become aware that Israeli had precipitated the war, attacked and destroyed the US communications ship the Liberty, killing 34 US Navy personnel.

During the war, the Israelis captured the Sinai peninsula, the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and the Golan Heights. The Sinai was returned to Egypt after the peace accords of the late seventies. The West Bank and Gaza Strip remain under Israeli domination and occupation. Israel "annexed" the Golan Heights in 1981 and has steadily increased settlements there.

U.N. Security Council Resolution 242

November 22, 1967

The Security Council,

Expressing its continuing concern with the grave situation in the Middle East,

Emphasizing the inadmissibility of the acquisition of territory by war and the need to work for a just and lasting peace in which every State in the area can live in security,

Emphasizing further that all Member States in their acceptance of the Charter of the United Nations have undertaken a commitment to act in accordance with Article 2 of the Charter,

Affirms that the fulfillment of Charter principles requires the establishment of a just and lasting peace in the Middle East which should include the application of both the following principles:
(i) Withdrawal of Israeli armed forces from territories occupied in the recent conflict;

(ii) Termination of all claims or states of belligerency and respect for and acknowledgement of the sovereignty, territorial integrity and political independence of every State in the area and their right to live in peace within secure and recognized boundaries free from threats or acts of force;
Affirms further the necessity
(a) For guaranteeing freedom of navigation through international waterways in the area;

(b) For achieving a just settlement of the refugee problem;

(c) For guaranteeing the territorial inviolability and political independence of every State in the area, through measures including the establishment of demilitarized zones;
Requests the Secretary General to designate a Special Representative to proceed to the Middle East to establish and maintain contacts with the States concerned in order to promote agreement and assist efforts to achieve a peaceful and accepted settlement in accordance with the provisions and principles in this resolution;

Requests the Secretary-General to report to the Security Council on the progress of the efforts of the Special Representative as soon as possible.

Adopted unanimously at the 1382nd meeting.

A pdf file of the original document from the UN. Israel has always refused to implement this resolution, although it is the first to scream when one of its Arab neighbors doesn't abide by the UN. It can do this because it is so consistently supported by the US.

Things have only gotten worse in the intervening years. Israel has not only refused to give up the West Bank, it has adopted policies to drive the Palestinians out for good: the apartheid wall, mass murder and brutal harassment are the daily lot of those Palestinian civilians who dare to remain in their own land.

Perhaps we should not be surprised, but it is curious that two of the seminal events of this era happened on November 22, that is, on 11/22.

The House Select Committee on Assassinations found in 1979 that JFK's death was likely due to a conspiracy. A far cry from the Warren Commission whitewash. Now the debunkers are coming out to put that finding into question. We shouldn't be surprised. Kennedy's assassination is a key moment in the unfolding of US history. This was the moment when the military-industrial complex made certain that they would retain control. And they needed the complicity of the US population to do it.

How?

By having them buy the lie. Eighty percent of the US do not believe Oswald acted alone, but what have they done about it?

Of course, with all the theories, counter theories, facts and counter facts surrounding this event, many of which were put into place for the purpose of confusing the population and covering the tracks of those responsible, this event is, indeed, a "lesson in ambiguity." But our conclusions about this do not necessarily agree with those of the professor in the following article:
JFK killing: a lesson in ambiguity

REUTERS, NOVEMBER 21, 2003

DALLAS: The shots rang out in Dallas 40 years ago, and the students' research papers on assassination conspiracy theories were due on the desk of Southern Methodist University professor Tom Stone earlier this week.

Stone has been teaching a course for 10 years on the John F Kennedy presidential assassination at SMU, a university in Dallas located a few miles north of where Kennedy was gunned down on November 22, 1963.

The course called "On the Trail of the Assassin(s)" considers the assassination as a work of critical reading, teaching wide-eyed college youths in the English department that there is no absolute truth, but a whole lot of ways to navigate through contradiction.

"If I went into class the first day and said, 'This is really a course on critical reading and critical thinking,' the students would probably run for the door," Stone said.

Stone, who sports a full beard and a voice big enough to fill a classroom even when he speaks in hushed tones, describes himself as a child of the 1960s.

He said he started the course because he wanted to teach students some of his views on the assassination, but over the years realised the history of JFK's fateful day in Dallas was an exceptional platform to teach students that there were numerous ways to interpret a text.

The class is possibly the only college course on the Kennedy assassination that is a part of an English literature curriculum.

"Students begin to read more sceptically and more critically, which is a basic tool for an English class," Stone said. In the Kennedy case, for every fact there is a counter fact. The evidence is internally contradictory. They never reach certainty and the comfort of a clear-cut right answer."

[...] Teacher Stone subscribes to the theory of Oswald as a single gunman, who was probably encouraged or influenced by an outside force. He said after the course that the students are usually evenly divided between those who see Oswald acting alone as the gunman and those who see a conspiracy of some sorts behind the assassination.

"The thing about the Kennedy case is because there are no definite answers, people read their own concerns into it," Stone said. After the course, students should have picked up an important lesson on education.

"You are going to know more and understand less."
"Knowing more and understanding less" is certainly a stage one goes through. It is important to learn to set aside preconceptions, to look only at the data at hand. But this raises the question of how far you need to go to find new data. Ambiguity is necessary for one's own progress as an obstacle to work against, that is, learning to change one's perspective, moving in and out of a situation or event, to see longer term patterns.

The Kennedy assassination, when viewed from "up close", is ambiguous. As Prof. Stone says above, "For every fact there is a counter fact." But when viewed within the context of the development of the US in the 20th century, the ambiguity dissolves like the stripping away of a thousand veils. This is why one needs to suspend judgment. One cannot make a decision about the Kennedy assassination alone, isolated from the rest.

But when multiple events are viewed, such as the assassinations of JFK, his brother Robert, Martin Luther King, John Lennon, the interest of the National Security State in the phenomenon of UFOs, mind control programs, Operation Paperclip which brought over former Nazis to work in the US, the establishment of the network of former Nazis and collaborators in the "Stay-behind" network to carry out covert activities for the dark forces within the US, and the events of 9/11 and the subsequent invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq among others, the consistent sense of "something is very wrong with this picture" is best explained by the hypothesis of a long-term conspiracy on the part of very powerful people in positions of power. When this history is viewed in the context of the last four thousand years of human history, the hypothesis of a long-term conspiracy against the best interests of the whole of humanity becomes the best explanation.

But there will remain those who argue over the "facts":
Kennedy's assassin acted alone: Expert

AP [THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 20, 2003 11:27:20 AM]

SOMERVILLE, Massachsetts: A new analysis of a tape recording made 40 years ago by a Dallas police officer, may cast further doubt on the theory that President John F Kennedy's assassin did not act alone.

For decades, conspiracy theorists -- and some scientists -- have held that a sound on the tape is a gunshot from the grassy knoll fired by someone other than Lee Harvey Oswald. But forensic acoustics expert, Bob Berkovitz, analysed the recording and found it is extremely unlikely the sound was gunfire.

"The theory that the noise represents a grassy knoll gunshot is not supported by the computer-based analysis," said Berkovitz, chairman of Sensimetrics Corp, which specialises in research on speech and hearing.

[...] The House Select Committee on Assassinations, after hearing reports from acoustics experts, who said there was a high probability that the tape contained four gunshot sounds -- rather than the three Oswald is believed to have fired -- found in 1979 that the assassination was probably the result of a conspiracy.

But a special panel of the National Academy of Sciences, led by a physicist from Harvard, who would later win the Nobel Prize, disputed the evidence of a fourth shot in 1982.

[...] G Robert Blakey, former chief counsel of the House committee and now a law professor at Notre Dame, said he was curious about Berkovitz's analysis, but he stood by the House investigation. "Did Oswald have help? I think there's a high probability that there was a shot from the grassy knoll," he said.

[...] Berkovitz, who worked on the project for nine months, also said he used a computer program to calculate whether sounds on the tape represented echoes of the grassy knoll shot bouncing around Dealey Plaza. He said his analysis found a very high probability that the sounds were not echoes, a finding diametrically opposed to the findings that had swayed the House committee.

Noting that previous studies were carried out more than two decades ago, Berkovitz said, "I think it may well be that having some better tools at my disposal caused me to have different results."

James Barger, one of the scientists, who consulted for the House committee, said he stood by his research.

He said he was confident the sound was recorded at the time of the assassination, and noted that three of the sounds found in the tape in his research were spaced exactly the way the three shots were in Abraham Zapruder's film of the shooting.
We are fond of the expression "the devil is in the details." But what are the details? That this recording of a shot has been "proven" to be something else? Or the likelihood that this type of technology is being used by the alphabet soup agencies to create phoney evidence? Or that the people who are behind this conspiracy will stop at nothing to promote the "lone nut" theory?

The person who does not wish to question his firm belief that the US government is the leader of the "free world", is the "bastion of democracy," etc, will decide the "detail" is that Berkovitz "proved" the "gunshot" was something else. Those who remain unsettled by the discrepancies in this, and who take a look at the larger picture, will come away with a different conclusion.

The role of television in forming false memories, in brainwashing the US population and in creating a populace where critical thinking is replaced by the need for the next, rapid-fire fix of a news "experience" (waiting for Michael Jackson's plane to arrive, anyone?), cannot be overemphasized. And once more we are taken back to the day of Kennedy's assassination...
The day television came of age

VINAY MENON

In many ways, the death of John F. Kennedy gave birth to television.

Sure, the medium was around long before Nov. 22, 1963. But on that surreal day, as shots rang out in Dallas and confusion engulfed a nation, television was forced to awkwardly mature.

As the 40th anniversary approaches, dozens of specials, documentaries and retrospectives will air on U.S. networks, each attempting to bring context and insight to one of the most iconic moments of the 20th century.

Now, four decades after the assassination, 80 per cent of Americans subscribe to some version of conspiracy; Lee Harvey Oswald, they believe, was not the lone gunman. [...]
When you consider the importance of TV in dumbing down the population, this article is saying more than the author realizes...

However, consider for a moment that 80% of the US population believes there was a conspiracy. That is 4 out of every 5 people! And yet, what has changed? what have any of these individuals DONE about it? Did it cause them to look clearly at the events of 9/11 and question the Bush Reich's official story? Or does it help them to understand the recent bombings in Turkey?
The coverup continues - Major media complicit in the continuing coverup of the Kennedy assassination

by voxfux

Forty years ago, John F. Kennedy was assassinated by the same ultra right wing elements in the United States who rule today. When these extremists assassinated Kennedy they seized a moment in history and radically transformed America into a wasteland of lost opportunities, forever killing the hopes that this country once had to be a decent nation. And America has never been able to recover from those stolen opportunities by the extremist right wing. America is now spiraling deeper and deeper into the abyss of fascism.

Complicit in this plot to rob America of it's rightful future was the CIA under Allen Dulles and the FBI under J. Edger Hoover.

Today the conspiracy to coverup the true facts surrounding the right wing's assassination of Kennedy continues with a massive coordinated effort by the CIA controlled major media to obliterate the facts surrounding the conspiracy to kill Kennedy and reinforce the widely dismissed and disbelieved lie that Oswald acted alone.

The 40th anniversary of Kennedy's assassination has become once again a field day for the right wing extremists who control the media to churn out lie after lie about how Oswald acted alone. With bogus 3D reenactments designed to fool the eye and boggle the mind.

It is a chilling reality today that there is such divide between what is really real and what the official media backed presentation of that reality is. Nearly the entire major media is nothing more than a huge brainwashing machine churning out disinformation carefully scripted by the puppet-masters of the New World Order. CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX are all under the complete control of the New World Order industrialists. Nearly all "news" on these channels are lies.

Soon America will descend into a military dictatorship and any resemblance to great nation it once was will be lost forever.

LBJ aides say JFK documentary a smear

Film alleges Johnson had role in JFK assassination

Thursday, November 20, 2003

LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- A television documentary claiming Lyndon B. Johnson helped plot the Kennedy assassination was condemned as an absurd smear by Johnson's family and former staff members.

A History Channel film that aired Monday alleges that then-Vice President Johnson and members of his staff were responsible for President Kennedy's 1963 killing, said LBJ Foundation Chairman Tom Johnson, no relation to the former president.

"I do not know of a greater injustice to the reputation of a former president -- especially to be on The History Channel," Tom Johnson, who worked in the Johnson White House, said in an interview Tuesday.

He and Jack Valenti, another former Johnson staff member and current president of the Motion Picture Association of America, issued a joint statement on behalf of the Johnson family and others.

"Sadly, President Johnson and the staff members who are wrongly smeared by the conspiracy theorists are no longer alive to defend themselves," the statement said. "In televising this production, The History Channel has distorted history beyond recognition."

It was the second recent TV project about a former president to draw criticism. CBS yanked its November miniseries "The Reagans" after supporters of former President Reagan said it distorted his legacy while he suffers Alzheimer's disease.

The latest program aired as part of an umbrella series titled "The Men Who Killed Kennedy," a package of documentaries about various conspiracy theories regarding Kennedy's death, said channel spokeswoman Lynn Gardner.

The films in "The Men Who Killed Kennedy" series are from producer Nigel Turner and have aired before on cable TV, channel spokeswoman Gardner said. Monday's film, titled "The Guilty Men," was based in part on the book "Blood, Money & Power: How L.B.J. Killed J.F.K." by Barr McClellan, she said.

"The History Channel does not say that any of these theories are correct nor does not in any way say that the theory in this program is correct," the channel said in a statement. "We are, however, presenting a point of view that has been meticulously researched.

"By presenting different viewpoints we enable our viewers to decide to agree or disagree with them and to arrive at their own conclusions," the channel said.

'Garbage, ugliness'

Lyndon Johnson became president upon Kennedy's death.

Kennedy was shot in Dallas on November 22, 1963. The Warren Commission concluded Lee Harvey Oswald was the sole assassin, but claims of more extensive plots continue to fascinate the public.

"I'm puzzled, bewildered, that a distinguished enterprise like the History Channel would put on the air such garbage, such ugliness," Valenti said in an interview. "It makes one sick."

Another former LBJ aide, journalist Bill Moyers, hadn't seen the program but called its premise "absurd." Liz Carpenter, who was press secretary to Lady Bird Johnson, called the program "outrageous."

Attorneys were being consulted but it was unknown if any legal action could be taken, said Tom Johnson, also a former president and CEO of CNN.

The documentary was "exceptionally upsetting" to Johnson's widow, who recently suffered a stroke, and daughters Luci and Lynda, Tom Johnson said. President Johnson died in 1973.

The family did not try to block the program's broadcast as in the case of organized Republican efforts against CBS' "The Reagans," Tom Johnson said. The Reagan drama was shifted to cable channel Showtime and is showing November 30.

"We left the decision on editorial content and accuracy up to the History Channel," Tom Johnson said.

LBJ was Secretly Jewish

Genealogical and historical evidence strongly suggests that the 36th US President and his wife were secretly Jewish. This is highly significant when one considers that President Johnson joined America and Israel at the hip, a policy that has now been in place for nearly 40 years, and a policy which most of the world does not understand or endorse.

Nixon: Warren report was the greatest hoax that has ever been perpetuated

March, 2002

By Kevin Anderson

BBC News

Richard Nixon left the White House in disgrace as the only president in US history to resign, and with the release of 500 hours of taped conversations covering the time of the Watergate break-in, researchers hope to find new clues to how much the president knew of the "third-rate burglary".

500 hours of tape have been released

The tapes are of the first six months of his second term of office, covering not only the Watergate break-in but also his historic trip to China and the continuing war on Vietnam.

Congress had once battled the president for release of the tapes, and now for the first time researchers and historians can record them to review them for new insights into the past.

But some questions will go unanswered as gaps remain on the tapes - gaps in key conversations that might have revealed how much Nixon knew about the break-in.

Hardball politics

Nixon had the Secret Service install recording equipment in the White House, and the 1,000 tapes represent the first six months of 1972 as he turned his attention to winning re-election.

His political career had been a mixture of triumph and disappointment. After serving in Congress, he served as President Dwight Eisenhower's vice president.

He narrowly lost the 1960 presidential election to John Kennedy, and two years later, he lost the election for governor of California.

Nixon did not want to lose again.

He was a fierce political competitor. When running for Congress in 1946, he printed his opponent's voting record on pink paper to suggest that he had Communist sympathies.

And as Nixon considered his re-election bid in 1972, he was looking for ways to beat his opponents.

In May of 1972, Arthur Bremer attempted to assassinate White House hopeful George Wallace.

The tapes reveal that Nixon wanted to pin the blame on supporters of Democrats George McGovern and Edward Kennedy, whom he might face in the November elections.

"Just say he (the shooter) was a supporter of McGovern and Kennedy," he said to HR "Bob" Haldeman, his chief of staff, and Charles Colson, then special counsel to the president.

"Now, just put that out!" Nixon said, his voice rising for emphasis. "Just say you have it on unmistakable evidence."

Kennedy's assassination

In the same conversation, Nixon gave new fodder for conspiracy theorists who question whether Lee Harvey Oswald was the only shooter involved in the assassination of President John Kennedy.

Referring to the report by the Warren Commission, "it was the greatest hoax that has ever been perpetuated," Nixon said. He did not elaborate why he questioned the report.

The tapes also record a conversation between President Nixon and former Treasury Secretary John Connally who was in the car with President Kennedy when he was killed.

It contains graphic details of the shooting. [...]

JFK Jr. was hot on trail of JFK's killers

From the Nov. 18 edition of GLOBE

JFK JR'S MISSION TO FIND DAD'S KILLERS

The disturbing details he learned about that deadly day in Dallas

JFK JR. spent his adult life on an astounding secret mission that he shared with only a few of his closest confidants - mulling over classified documents in a determined bid to unmask exactly who was behind his father's assassination 40 years ago.

And now, GLOBE can exclusively reveal the shocking secrets uncovered by the gutsy Camelot heir . . .

It was JFK Jr.'s belief following his 20-year investigation that the guilty parties were 10 to 15 . . . military generals and disgruntled CIA operatives who were angry at his father's plan to keep America out of the growing Vietnam conflict.

This clandestine group, stung by the U.S. military failure at the Bay of Pigs in Cuba, wanted to crank up the American war machine and win in Vietnam at all costs . . . and JFK stood in their way.

[JFK, Jr.] burned the midnight oil to uncover the tiniest clue, starting at age 18, say close friends. . . .

"He refused point blank to believe the official version that Lee Harvey Oswald was the lone shooter," says the friend. He came to his conclusion after watching the famous Zapruder footage frame by frame . . . and reviewing autopsy reports and forensic evidence on Oswald's gun.

He doggedly sifted through papers that few other people could get their hands on, documents at the JFK Library in Boston and top secret files that his close friends in Washington, D.C., obtained for him. . . .

Says the source, one of JFK Jr.'s closest friends for more than a decade before his fatal airplane crash July 16, 1999: "He would never have published his findings - he was doing it just for himself." . . .

JFK Jr.'s personal investigation took him to Dallas, where he visited the assassination site at Dealy Plaza while he was in law school in 1988. Wearing a baseball cap pulled low to hide his face. . .

In 1997, JFK Jr. made his way to Cuba, where he interviewed Fidel Castro for his George magazine. The Cuban dictator, too, wanted to clear the air.

"John told me Castro looked him straight in the eye and told him, 'It is important to me that you know I had nothing to do with your father's assassination,'" says the source. "John said he nodded and smiled because he knew Castro wasn't involved." ...

A friend at the Russian Consulate in New York allowed JFK Jr. to view KGB files on the assassination and Oswald, who lived in Russia for a while. Again, he knew the Russians were not involved in the case.

In the end, JFK Jr.'s conclusion echoed that of Oliver Stone: Certain generals and CIA honchos set up Lee Harvey Oswald as the patsy and there were four other shooters, disguised as hobos....

"John was driven - there's no other word for it - to find out the truth," the source tells GLOBE. "He spent time, energy and money, and he pulled a lot of strings to go places and get his hands on crucial evidence.

"He vowed to find the identities of the guilty parties before he died but, ironically, not long after John told me he had just about wrapped up his investigation, he was killed in the crash."...
LibertyThink was kind enough to include the full text of the article here. Sherman Skolnick makes some interesting assertions in his article Rockefeller in the White House? regarding the assassination of JFK, Jr.:
A Friday after July 9, 1999, was when the Bush Crime Family benefited from the airplane sabotage killing John F. Kennedy, Jr.(July 16, 1999). Kennedy was supposed to have kept it secret, that he was planning to announce August 1, 1999, that approaching the age similar to his late father, he was going to run for President. JFK Jr. made a mistake to inform some in the Gore campaign camp. [Using later a false item, Newsweek Magazine blunted this by stating that JFK Jr. was planning to run for U.S. Senator from New York.]

Some perceived Kennedy Jr. as scandal-free, charming, and likely to pull a big successful Presidential vote in 2000 [if he survived]. [More details in our four-part series on the web, "What Happened to America's Golden Boy?"]
THE LINCOLN-KENNEDY COINCIDENCES

Fast-forward 40 years: Zapruder's effects on pop culture are still felt 4 decades after JFK's murder

GEOFF PEVERE

ARTEFACTS

DALLAS, TEXAS-What if?

Forty years to the day of the assassination of John F. Kennedy, and the event still compels one question more forcefully than any other.

Let's suppose, for example, Abraham Zapruder hadn't been convinced by a persistent coworker to leave work, go home and get his movie camera that day.

[...] The notoriously contentious conclusion of the Warren Commission, that the president was killed by a solitary gunman, acting alone, named Lee Harvey Oswald, would never have been cast into such enduring doubt without the questions still raised by the Zapruder film: If Oswald fired the shot that caused the fatal head wound from the rear, why does the president jerk backwards?

[...] While some images provided what seemed to be the most compelling contradiction of the Warren Commission's findings, other images made iconic by the event pressed the opposite speculation. Was the shot of Oswald in his backyard - with a rifle, pistol and subversive political tract - a fake? And if it was manipulated, couldn't all images be acts of trickery? Simultaneously in the assassination's aftermath, seeing undermined believing and believing contradicted seeing.

If the bullet entered from behind, why does the impact seem to explode like an exit wound?
