Seven people died after heavy rain caused rivers to overflow in La Paz Department of Bolivia.

The incident occurred on 12 November 2021 after heavy rainfall caused the Mercke and Mapiri rivers to break their banks in Larecaja province. Bolivia's National Naval Hydrography Service reported that levels of the Mapiri river jumped by over 3 metres on 12 November.

Several people were reported missing near town of Mapiri. Military teams were deployed to the area for search and rescue operations. As of 16 November, officials said 7 people had died in the incident and around 25 households were affected. Many of the the victims are believed to be miners who were working in the area.

As if last week's wild weather wasn't enough, days of nearly ceaseless heavy rain and high winds prompted extensive flooding and mudslides Monday, forcing evacuations, school and road closures and a state of emergency declared in 14 Western Washington counties.

The weekend's heavy rains stemmed from the Pineapple Express, also known as an atmospheric river. The National Weather Service issued a flood watch for portions of northwest and west-central Washington, including King, Pierce and Snohomish counties.

NWS issued a wind advisory warning of southwest winds between 15 and 30 mph with gusts up to around 40 mph in Seattle, Bremerton, Tacoma and areas of the Hood Canal. The strongest winds, with gusts of up to 60 mph, were near the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the shorelines of Snohomish, Skagit and Whatcom counties thanks to a cold front passing through the region.

More than 158,000 customers were without power in Western Washington at one point Monday afternoon.

Flooding has forced the evacuation of the entire community of Merritt, B.C.

On Monday morning, the city announced an evacuation order had been issued.

Residents were being asked to stay with friends or family if possible, or to go to the Emergency Social Support reception centres in Kamloops and Kelowna.

"The flood waters have now inundated two bridges across the Coldwater River, and flood waters prevent access to the third," the city said in a statement.

"High flood waters have rendered the City's Wastewater Treatment Plant inoperable for an indefinite period. Continued habitation of the community without sanitary services presents risk of mass sewage back-up and personal health risk."

Downpours across northwestern Oregon, particularly in coastal communities in Lincoln and Tillamook counties, saw severe flooding Friday. Swollen rivers blocked roadways, threatened homes and trapped people.

At least two RV parks — one in Neskowin and one in Otis — were flooded and evacuated Friday morning. U.S. Highway 101 is seeing slow travel due to high water.

High water prompted the closure of Highway 18 at milepost 1, near the interchange with Highway 101 outside Otis.

Numerous rivers and creeks reached minor flood stage on the northern Coast, including the Siletz, Nestucca, Salmon, Trask and Wilson rivers. The rivers appeared likely to crest Friday afternoon before dropping Friday night and Saturday, according to National Weather Service river gauges.

NWS said that in the past 24 hours, Tillamook and Lincoln counties have received between 2.77 and 4.04 inches of rain.

Heavy rain of over 100 mm in 4 hours caused flooding in Sardinia, the Italian island in the Mediterranean Sea. At least 1 person has died and several injured.

As of 15 November, 2021, the worst of the flooding occurred in the south of the island, including the capital, Cagliari, and the communes of Villa San Pietro and Sant'Anna Arresi. Some roads have also been closed in northern areas of the island.

Italy's fire service Vigili del Fuoco teams carried out 85 interventions in Cagliari, mostly for draining flood water, removal of debris from roads and the rescue of people in difficulty. Mayor of the city, Paolo Truzzu, said 104 mm of rain fell in just 4 hours. All schools, parks, sports facilities, libraries and museums along with several roads have been closed.

A main road in Songkhla province and parts of Narathiwat municipality were under floodwater on Friday morning as heavy rain continued to lash the southern region.

Water up to 50 centimetres deep blocked traffic on Road 407, a main road connecting Hat Yai and Muang districts of Songkhla province.

Motorists slowed their vehicles to a crawl as they negotiated the flooded section at Ban Klong Leuk in Muang district, causing traffic to build up. Another road in Hat Yai district was also flooded.

Songkhla and other southern provinces along the Gulf of Thailand have been pummelled by rain for three days.

Floods caused by torrential rains have killed at least 25 people and injured seven in recent days, Sri Lanka's Disaster Management Centre (DMC) reported. So far, more than 200,000 people in 145 divisional secretariats in 17 districts have been affected, but this could change.

Fearing landslides, the authorities have ordered the closure until tomorrow of the road connecting the capital to Kandy at Pahala Kadugannawa (Kegalle district). In several areas, people have been ordered to evacuate with immediate effect. In Jaffna Province, schools have been closed until a later date.

Priyankara Costa, a resident of Madampe, a village in North Western Province, told AsiaNews that the fury of the waters swept away his cultivated land. "We have never experienced such terrible rain and flooding," he explained.

His son is studying at Jaffna University and had to leave his boarding house in a hurry due to the danger of flooding. For now, he is staying at a campus hostel.

Heavy overnight rainfall causes flooding on Malta

Heavy rainfall throughout the night caused several streets to flood early on Thursday morning.

Gozo appeared to be the worst hit, with flooding reported in Għajnsielem. In Marsalforn valley, the streets turned into rivers.

Maltese Islands Weather website said Għajnsielem saw the heaviest rain, with a whopping 115.3 mm of rainfall being recorded there.
