Huge fireball explodes over western US

As forecasters predicted, there was a surge of Leonid meteors during the late hours of Nov. 17th. Preliminary counts from the International Meteor Organization exceed 120 meteors per hour.

A remarkable midnight fireball that "turned night into day" over parts of the western United States last night was not a Leonid. Infrasound measurements suggest a sporadic asteroid not associated with the Leonid debris stream. The space rock exploded in the atmosphere with an energy equivalent to 0.5 - 1 kilotons of TNT.

Approximately 6 hours later, observers in Utah and Colorado witnessed a twisting iridescent-blue cloud in the dawn sky.

Folks in eastern Nevada are seeing strange things in the night sky.

Ely, Nevada sits in one of the most isolated corners of the state. The nearest communities of any size are hours away in any direction.

If you live out here, chances are you drive a lot and you work outside. Away from civilization's light pollution, the night sky is as full of stars as the landscape below is empty. You take note of any thing out of the ordinary.

And lately people here have been seeing some strange things in the eastern Nevada sky.

Highway 93 runs north and south between through Steptoe Valley. Sixty miles north of Ely is Lages Junction. A pair of street lights and the occasional car or truck are the only interruptions to the darkness and silence.

The lights were amber-hued and of varying intensity. Some of them appeared alone, others appeared to travel in twos, but maintained a largely constant altitude. What was odd was that they responded to the light of my flashlight - when lighting them, they would dim, and then relight even brighter.

Luis Vásquez believes that this area is a UFO route. There are eyewitness accounts from people in Paita, Chulucanas and Huancabamba.

Chile: Enigmatic Petroglyph Associated with UFO Presence
Image of an oval-headed being causes surprise.

Impressive prehistoric evidence of the UFO presence in the region can be found in various manifestations of rock art in Talabre and the vicinity of Maria Elena.

A strange petroglyph in the Talabre ravine, dating back to the prehistory of the Atacama region, has stirred curiosity due to the presence of a strange, oval-headed being with large eyes and hands. Many have associated this image with a deity or extraterrestrial.

Petroglyphs are etched upon surface rocks worn away by time, and are associated to village centers near burial grounds or "gentilares", as well as areas of worship in specific geographic areas in the vicinity of prehistoric trails, a typical characteristic of inter-regional traffic.

Kansas father, son suspect meteorite landed at home
Liberal - A father and son have an extraterrestrial explanation for the strange rock that recently landed in their backyard in southwest Kansas. They are convinced it's a meteorite.

Chandler Harp, 10, was playing in the backyard of his Liberal home when he heard what sounded like an explosion about 15 feet from where he was standing. He looked over to see a plume of dirt and debris shoot 5 feet high.

At the bottom of a foot-deep hole, he found a 2-inch rock and showed it to his dad, Lee.

Russ Sittlow set up a surveillance camera to video tape the creature swimming in the channel behind his home.
There's something strange and big swimming in the canals of Madeira Beach along the Pinellas County coast. Those who have seen it say it's no fish and think it could be a sea serpent.

Russ Sittlow, 78, has seen it. He calls the creature "Normandy Nessie" because he lives on Normandy Road.

The retired engineer said he first saw "Nessie" in April.

"His head come up out of the water, and then he rolled up in a double roll behind him and he was long he was huge," he said of that first sighting.

Sittlow said he has seen two of the creatures in the canal, one very large, and the other a bit smaller. He estimates the largest one is at least 30 feet long.

Sittlow set up a surveillance camera to record video if the creatures came back. He said his camera recorded "Nessie" three times since September, the latest Saturday.

A French couple touring the Highlands claim to have photographed a ghost on the former site of a hanging tree.

The couple claim the spooky figure appears in a photograph they took in the High Street in Fort William, in the West Highlands.

The site - the location of the Old Fort's hanging tree - is said to have been known for ghostly appearances since the tree was chopped down in the 1970s.

Sophie Mager, 32, and Remy Puckey, 40, from Jaux, just north of Paris, did not see the apparition in front of them but were baffled when it appeared in Sophie's picture.
