When Noa Shulman came home from school, her mother, Yael, sat her down to eat, then spoon-fed her mashed sweet potatoes — mixed with cannabis oil.

Noa, who has a severe form of autism, started to bite her own arm. "No sweetie," Yael gently told her 17-year-old daughter. "Here, have another bite of this."

Noa is part of the first clinical trial in the world to test the benefits of medicinal marijuana for young people with autism, a potential breakthrough that would offer relief for millions of afflicted children — and their anguished parents.

There is anecdotal evidence that marijuana's main non-psychoactive compound — cannabidiol or CBD — helps children in ways no other medication has. Now this first-of-its-kind scientific study is trying to determine if the link is real.

Israel is a pioneer in this type of research. It permitted the use of medical marijuana in 1992, one of the first countries to do so. It's also one of just three countries with a government-sponsored medical cannabis program, along with Canada and the Netherlands.

Mainstream media insults the public's intelligence on vaccines

There is a bitter war going on, and it's not over Trumpcare or immigration: It is about vaccines.

Mainstream media and medical groups, typically funded or backed by Big Pharma, cast parents who are skeptical about vaccines as conspiracy theorists whose backward beliefs put the public at risk.

Vaccine skeptics cast vaccine promoters as paid shills, hired by Big Pharma to cover up documented vaccine-related injuries.

In mainstream and progressive media coverage (Mother Jones, Alternet, Huffington Post, Truthout, Progressive, The Nation) there is zero tolerance for critical debate about vaccine safety. Question why the hepatitis B vaccine is routinely given to babies at birth—for a disease mainly transmitted through sex and I.V. drug use—and you're labeled "anti-science."

Suggest that some vaccines, including those such as the highly promoted HPV Gardasil and Cervarix (both of which have been linked to adverse reactions and death) are not exactly "life-saving," and you might as well yell "bring back polio."

The media routinely discredits parents of vaccine-injured children, accusing them of not knowing anything about medicine (except raising their own challenged child of course) and of "imagining" or even causing their child's deficits.

The Athens Medical Association of Athens, Greece, held a conference April 1st regarding "Non-Ionizing Radiation and Its Effects on Human Health" where scientific lectures were presented along with 16 recommendations to reduce exposures and human health adverse effects. Question: Why hasn't the American Medical Association done the same? Good question?

Here are those 16 Recommendations for Wireless Use Safety:
  • Use your cell phone with caution and make brief calls as necessary
  • Children under the age of 14 should make limited use of cell phones
  • Do not put your cell phone in contact with your head
  • Do not use your cell phone inside a car, train, aeroplane, or elevator
  • Restrict cell phone use when children or pregnant women are near.
  • Keep mobile phones away from your body
  • When using your cell phone keep a safe distance from others
  • Do not carry or keep your cell phone inside your pockets
  • At night, disengage Wi Fi on your router and switch off your mobile phone.
  • Do not play games on-line and if you do, switch to airplane mode
  • Hands Free option is always preferable though may not be completely safe
  • Wireless connections may increase your exposure to microwave radiation
  • Limit Wi Fi connectivity and use hard wired connection whenever possible
  • When signal strength is weak do not attempt to make a call
  • If a landline is available make use of this as a preferred option
  • Disengage Wi Fi, Bluetooth & Data options from your phone when are not needed [sic] [1,2]
George Patoulis MD, President of the Athens Medical Association, said that AMA, "in emphasizing its role and duties as guardian for public health, has taken steps to encourage and promote this open discussion dealing with the delicate issues of electromagnetic radiation. Mr. Patoulis stressed that all local authorities and all medical associations are obliged to adopt and apply the best possible practices available in today's world, aiming primarily at the protection of our fellow citizens."[2]

These popular drinks consumed by 50% of people are linked to dementia

Half of Americans use a drink linked to dementia on any given day.

Both sugary and artificially sweetened 'diet' drinks are linked to dementia by two new studies. People who drink sugary beverages tend to have poorer memories, smaller brains and a smaller hippocampus (an area vital for learning and memory).

Diet sodas, though, don't seem much safer. A follow-up study found that people who drink diet sodas are three times more likely to develop dementia and stroke, compared to those who drink none.

Both studies show associations, so it doesn't prove cause and effect.

Every field of human activity or thought has its liberals and its conservatives: this is as true of diet science as it is of NHL fandom or appliance design or poker. This week a trio of renowned cardiologists made world headlines with an editorial appearing in the British Journal of Sports Medicine. Their short article was meant to stir up trouble, trouble they surely welcome. It is intentionally radical, born from frustration with the persistence of harmful myths about food.

You are probably a prisoner of these myths, as I am. If you still look slightly askance at an egg because of the "cholesterol" in it, or if you have recently described or thought of a hamburger as "artery-clogging," you are in the trap. "The conceptual model of dietary saturated fat clogging a pipe," say the BJSM cardiologists, "is just plain wrong."

Most of us grew up with, and have not surrendered, a folk version of that model: saturated fats in dairy and meat raise your cholesterol, which then settles into your arteries like a sludge and makes you die young and miss your kids' graduations.

But most of the theoretical links that went into the old diet-heart model have been discredited or become uncertain. Doctors have learned to distinguish between levels of "bad" and "good" cholesterol when assessing patients for cardiovascular risk. And plenty of theoreticians now doubt whether there is any point at all in nutritional recommendations about cholesterol consumption. Coronary thrombosis is caused by cholesterol deposits in the walls of one's arteries, but, as the authors of the BJSM editorial say, the way in which they cause harm is more like the bursting of a pimple than a "clogging"—which is why preventive arterial stenting for cardiovascular health has not panned out well.

Comment: The only reason these dietary myths continue to proliferate is that the pharma/medical cartel's vast financial resources are used to control governments, research and education to insure the revenue streams from their highly lucrative but deadly cholesterol lowering drugs are not interrupted.

Nanoparticles found in vehicle exhaust fumes can build up in damaged blood vessels and stay in the blood system for months, potentially raising the risk of a heart attack or a stroke, a new study suggests.

It was suspected that cardiovascular diseases leading to premature death are linked to polluted air, although it was not clear how exactly it affects blood vessels.

Now a group of scientists have used a specialized technique to track those particles. The results of the study by staff at the University of Edinburgh in the UK and the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment in the Netherlands were published in the journal ACS Nano on Wednesday.

During the experiment, 14 healthy volunteers, 12 surgical patients and several mice inhaled harmless ultra-fine particles of gold. It turned out that the particles built up in damaged blood vessels of those who already have a heart disease, aggravating their condition.

Comment: While conventional science prefers to lay blame on demonized products such as nicotine, fat and salt, it's becoming increasingly clear that they were being used by modern science as scapegoats, while the real killers were being ignored, such as air pollution, sugar and refined flours. It is rather sad to see the conventional causes of cardiovascular disease have actually been beneficial all along, while the true causes were not only ignored, but promoted among the scientific community. Study finds DTP vaccine increases infant mortality 5 to 10 fold compared to unvaccinated infants

For many years, public health advocates have vainly urged the CDC and WHO to conduct studies comparing vaccinated vs. unvaccinated populations to measure overall health outcomes. Now a team of Scandinavian scientists has conducted such a study and the results are alarming. That study, funded in part by the Danish government and lead by Dr. Soren Wengel Mogensen, was published in January in EBioMedicine. Mogensen and his team of scientists found that African children inoculated with the DTP (diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis) vaccine, during the early 1980s had a 5-10 times greater mortality than their unvaccinated peers.

The data suggest that, while the vaccine protects against infection from those three bacteria, it makes children more susceptible to dying from other causes.

The scientists term the study a "natural experiment" since a birthday-based vaccination system employed for the Bandim Health Project (BHP) in Guinea Bissau, West Africa had the effect of creating a vaccinated cohort and a similarly situated unvaccinated control group. In the time period covered by this study, Guinea-Bissau had 50% child mortality rates for children up to age 5. Starting in 1978, BHP health care workers contacted pregnant mothers and encouraged them to visit infant weighing sessions provided by a BHP team every three months after their child's birth. Beginning in 1981, BHP offered vaccinations at the weighing sessions. Since the DPT vaccine and OPV (oral polio) immunizations were offered only to children who were at least three months of age at the weighing sessions, the children's random birthdays allowed for analysis of deaths between 3 and 5 months of age depending on vaccination status. So, for example, a child born on January 1st and weighed on April 1st would be vaccinated, but a child born on February 1st would not be vaccinated until their following visit at age 5 months on July 1st.
