Best of the Web: Richard Dolan: We've got to make sure that the actual truth gets out
Why are so many people unaware of the hyper-dimensional phenomenon that is behind global politics, cutting-edge technology, and the future of the planet and ourselves?

Richard Dolan, author of UFOs and The National Security State, explains in depth why it is of utmost importance for each of us to actively seek out information on this issue.

Peacemaker
When war becomes peace,

When concepts and realities are turned upside down,

When fiction becomes truth and truth becomes fiction.

When a global military agenda is heralded as a humanitarian endeavor,

When the killing of civilians is upheld as "collateral damage",

When those who resist the US-NATO led invasion of their homeland are categorized as "insurgents" or "terrorists".

When preemptive nuclear war is upheld as self defense.

When advanced torture and "interrogation" techniques are routinely used to "protect peacekeeping operations",

When tactical nuclear weapons are heralded by the Pentagon as "harmless to the surrounding civilian population"

When three quarters of US personal federal income tax revenues are allocated to financing what is euphemistically referred to as "national defense"

When the Commander in Chief of the largest military force on planet earth is presented as a global peace-maker,

When the Lie becomes the Truth.
Best of the Web: Will Tel Aviv take the U.S. to war - Again?

Who but pro-Israeli insiders could insert in a UN speech by the first Black president a racist reference to 'the Jewish state of Israel'?
Tel Aviv long ago proved its mastery at waging war "by way of deception" - the operative credo of the Mossad, Israel's intelligence and foreign operations directorate. Yet its latest operation reveals a need to freshen up its repertoire of dirty tricks. As Israel's patron, those of us who live in the U.S. are painfully familiar with such duplicity. Yet the recent frequency of its frauds renders their latest treachery remarkably transparent.

Consider the similarities. First a network of pro-Israelis fixed the intelligence that induced us to invade Iraq in support of an expansionist agenda for Greater Israel. Who can forget Iraqi WMD, scary images of mushroom clouds and secret meetings in Prague? Who can fail to recall the yellowcake uranium from Niger and those ominous warnings of "high-level contacts" between secular Baghdad and the religious fundamentalists of Al Qaeda?

Even Colin Powell was duped when pro-Israelis in the G.W. Bush administration associated his credibility with false UN testimony avowing Iraqi mobile biological weapons laboratories. Though all was deception, it had the intended effect. To others, it looked like the U.S. was at fault. Yet our policy-makers are no better than the information on which they must rely - and the allies they are persuaded to trust.
Best of the Web: Video: Al Qaeda Doesn't Exist
This is the Prologue to the new documentary from The Corbett Report, Al Qaeda Doesn't Exist. This documentary interrogates the notion that Osama Bin Laden single-handedly runs the pervasive Al Qaeda terrorist network by examining its inception, its links to Western intelligence, the double agents and fictitious characters that populate its ranks, and the fraudulent ways the Al Qaeda myth is propagated in the controlled corporate media. The documentary also offers ways that citizens can become involved in helping to spread understanding about the true government-sponsored terror paradigm.

Best of the Web: Rattling the Cage: Our Exclusive Right to Self-Defense
Virtually all of Israel is now speaking in one voice against the Goldstone report, against any attempt to blame us over the war in Gaza. We've honed our message to a sharp point and, inspired by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's performance at the UN, we're delivering it with just the right tone of outrage:

How dare anyone deny us the right to self-defense! How dare anyone deny us the right to fight back against terrorism!

Very nice. Puts everyone else on the defensive. The right to self-defense is up there with motherhood and apple pie - who's going to come out against it, especially for us, for Israel, for the Jews, for the people of the Holocaust?

The right to self-defense - perfect.

But I'd like to ask: Do the Palestinians also have the right to self-defense?

We probably wouldn't admit it out loud, but in our heads we would say - again, in one voice - "No!"

This is the Israeli notion of a fair deal: We're entitled to do whatever the hell we want to the Palestinians because, by definition, whatever we do to them is self-defense. They, however, are not entitled to lift a finger against us because, by definition, whatever they do to us is terrorism.

Obama is The One
In surprise move today the Norwegian committee awarded U.S. President Barack Obama the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize.

The unexpected choice so early in his presidency has taken many observers by surprise. With some expressing dismay that Obama should be awarded a peace prize, even though U.S. forces are currently fighting two wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Unsurprisingly, the Taliban have already condemned the award.

"We have seen no change in his strategy for peace. He has done nothing for peace in Afghanistan," Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid told AFP.

"When Obama was elected president, we were hopeful he would keep his promise to bring change. But he brought no change, he has continued the same old strategy as (President George W.) Bush.
Comment: The following extracted from the above article says it all:
[Obama] reinforces the war in Afghanistan, he sent more troops to Afghanistan and is considering sending yet more. He has shed Afghan blood and he continues to bleed Afghans and to boost the war here...

This will definitely, drastically undermine the Nobel Peace Prize Committees reputation, especially, if you take into account that there is no practical breakthrough in nuclear arms control...

Naming Obama as the 2009 winner will only further undercut the standing of the Nobel Peace Prize Committee.... The committee has a history of awarding the peace prize to individuals who were anything but peacemakers. Former U.S. secretary of state and war Elihu Root [one of the original Zionist warmongers masquerading as an American] was awarded the 1912 Nobel Peace Prize. This was despite the fact that Root oversaw U.S. policy in the Philippines following the Spanish-American War. As a result of the American occupation hundreds of thousands of Filipinos - some estimates range as high as 1.5 million - died between 1899 and 1902.
Best of the Web: A Historian's Account of Democrats and Bush-Era War Crimes
The American Propsect's Adam Serwer notes that, yesterday, Sen. Joe Lieberman successfully inserted into the Homeland Security appropriations bill an amendment -- supported by the Obama White House -- to provide an exemption from the Freedom of Information Act's mandates by authorizing the Defense Secretary to suppress long-concealed photographs of detainee abuse. Two courts had ruled -- unanimously -- that the American people have the right to see these photographs under FOIA, a 40-year-old law championed by the Democrats in the LBJ era and long considered a crowning jewel in their legislative achievements. But this Lieberman amendment, which is now likely to pass, undermines all of that and -- as EBay founder Pierre Omidyar put it today -- its central purpose is to "legalize suppression" of evidence of American war crimes.

What made those detainee photographs so important from the start is that they depict brutal abuse well outside of the Abu Ghraib facility and thus reveal to Americans -- and the world -- that America's torture was not, as they've been constantly told, limited to rogue sadists at Abu Ghraib and the waterboarding of three bad guys. Instead, our torture regime was systematic, pervasive, brutal, fatal, and -- because it was the by-product of conscious policies set at the highest levels of government -- common across America's "War on Terror" detention regime. These photographs would have documented those vital facts; combated the false denials from torture apologists; fueled the momentum for accountability; and revealed, in graphic and unavoidable terms, what was truly done by America's government. But a Democratic-led Congress, at the urging of a Democratic President, are now taking extraordinary steps -- including an act of Congress which has no purpose other than to suppress evidence of America's war crimes -- to ensure that this evidence never sees the light of day.
Best of the Web: American troops in Afghanistan depressed and deeply disillusioned, say army chaplains

American soldiers serving in Afghanistan are depressed and deeply disillusioned, according to the chaplains of two US battalions that have spent nine months on the front line in the war against the Taleban.

Many feel that they are risking their lives - and that colleagues have died - for a futile mission and an Afghan population that does nothing to help them, the chaplains told The Times in their makeshift chapel on this fortress-like base in a dusty, brown valley southwest of Kabul.
Best of the Web: David Griffin's new book exposes a New Leviathan

I believe that there is probable cause to indict and charge top government officials, George W. Bush himself, for the capital crimes we call '911'. There is, I believe, no 'statute of limitation' on the crimes of mass murder, high treason, or the war crimes 'justified' upon the pretext of a great 'war on terrorism'. [see: US Codes, Title 18, Section 2441] or high treason!
(a) Offense. - Whoever, whether inside or outside the United States, commits a war crime, in any of the circumstances described in subsection (b), shall be fined under this title or imprisoned for life or any term of years, or both, and if death results to the victim, shall also be subject to the penalty of death.

--US Codes, TITLE 18 > PART I > CHAPTER 118 > § 2441. War crimes
Now Prof Griffin may or may not share my conviction with regard to the probable cause to indict high level members of Bush's administration, his new book most certainly strikes deep into a conspiracy to defraud the American people even as it waged treasonous war against it. Therefore, we should not be surprised that the government of the United States is 'pimped out' to huge multi-national corporations and foreign nations who take a proprietary interest in it. Why would they not? They own it; they own us; they own you, having bought the US and with it the awesome power of the Military/Industrial Complex. While the Praetorian Guard auctioned off the Roman Empire to one Didius Julianus the government of the US has since perfected, 'improved' upon Julianus' one-time sale. The US government is an on-going auction in which the US is routinely 'pimped' on 'K-street, sold to the highest bidders the services of Congress, the White House and even the US Supreme Court.
Flashback Best of Web: The end of Israel?
Israeli border police

Israeli border police run to stop a demonstration of Palestinians upset by the controversial and ongoing Israeli excavations near the al-Aqsa mosque
I am feeling optimistic about Palestine.

I know it sounds crazy. How can I use "optimistic" and "Palestine" in the same sentence when conditions on the ground only seem to get worse? Israeli settlements continue to expand on a daily basis, the checkpoints and segregated road system are becoming more and more institutionalized, more than 10,000 Palestinian political prisoners are being held in Israeli jails, Gaza is under heavy attack and the borders are entirely controlled by Israel, preventing people from getting their most basic human needs met.

We can never forget these things and the daily suffering of the people, and yet I dare to say that I am optimistic. Why? Ehud Olmert. Let me clarify. Better yet, let's let him clarify:
The day will come when the two-state solution collapses, and we face a South African-style struggle for equal voting rights. As soon as that happens, the state of Israel is finished.
