SOTT Focus: 'We Are The Vaccine Against The Cancer of Unilateralism' - Delegates From 120 Nations Meet in Venezuela to Plot Escape From U$ Hegemony

The Gray Zone reports from the 2019 Non-Aligned Movement, where delegates from over 120 nations offered a crucial endorsement of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and strategized on countering US financial hegemony
NAM caracas
The actual international community meets in Caracas
Late in the evening on July 19, Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif stepped out of a plane and met his Venezuelan counterpart, Jorge Arreaza, on the tarmac outside Caracas with an enthusiastic embrace. Zarif was in town to participate in the ministerial conference of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).

"Today in the Middle East and the regions of South America and Latin America, the US is creating instability and insecurity," Zarif declared to reporters gathered for his arrival. "The resistance of the people of Venezuela against the United States is very important for all the countries of the world."

A day later, the two embattled foreign ministers appeared alongside an assortment of high-level delegates from around the world, from Africa to Latin America to Asia. Zarif and Arreaza's position at the front and center of the group sent an undeniable message about the Non-Aligned Movement's purpose in 2019.

Officially founded in 1961 by post-colonial icons like Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser, Ghana's Kwame Nkrumah, Jawaharlal Nehru of India, and Yugoslavian leader Josef Tito, NAM was originally conceived as an alliance between countries seeking independence from both the US and Soviet power blocs during the height of the Cold War.

SOTT Focus: Caitlin Johnstone: The Real Reason Propagandists Have Been Promoting Anti-Russia Hysteria

mueller
Former MSNBC host Krystal Ball slammed her ex-employer's relentless promotion of the Russiagate conspiracy theory following the embarrassing spectacle of Robert Mueller's hearing before the House Judiciary and Intelligence Committees on Wednesday.

"After watching seven hours of a spectacle that felt much more cruel than enlightening, I cannot avoid pondering a question which honestly gives me no joy to ponder: just how much damage has MSNBC in particular done to the left?" The Hill's Rising star began, before excoriating her former employer's "fevered speculations" about an "Infowars conspiracy theory" and the way it hosted people like Jonathan "maybe Trump has been a Russian asset since the 1980s" Chait and "conspiracy gadfly Louise Mensch" in search of ratings bumps.

"This whole setup has done more damage to the Democrats' chances of winning back the White House than anything that Trump could ever have dreamed up," Ball argued. "Think about all the time and the journalistic resources that could have been dedicated to stories that, I don't know, that a broad swath of people might actually care about? Healthcare, wages, the teachers' movement, whether we're going to war with Iran? I'm just spitballing here. I actually heard some pundit on Chris Hayes last night opine that independent women in middle America were going to be swayed by what Mueller said yesterday. Are you kidding me? This is almost as bonkers and lacking in factual basis as that time Mimi Rocah said that Bernie Sanders is not pro-women because that was what her feelings told her. Rocah, by the way, a political prosecutor with no political background, is only opining at MSNBC because of her role in leading viewers to believe that any day now SDNY is going to bring down Trump and his entire family."

O:H header
Anyone reading headlines regularly can't help but notice a number or strange disease outbreaks popping up in various regions, seemingly out of nowhere. Flesh-eating disease on the East coast of the US, typhus and tuberculosis in Los Angeles, syphilis, chlamydia and gonorrhea making a comeback in Europe, treatment-resistant fungal infections, chronic Lyme disease around the world... it makes one wonder - what the heck is going on here?

Join us on this episode of Objective:Health as we profile some of the strange outbreaks happening of late - some weird new infections and some old 'favorites', previously thought eradicated, making a comeback. We speculate on some of the reasons we may be seeing what we're seeing and ways that one can protect themselves from falling victim to the cootie invasion.

Today we return to Chapter 5 of Andrew Łobaczewski's groundbreaking work Political Ponerology: A Science on the Nature of Evil Adjusted for Political Purposes to discern the impact of various ideologies on everyday life, and how dangerous delusions and deviant individuals can warp them into something barely recognizable, culminating in the social system Lobaczewski calls 'pathocracy'. We discuss Lobaczewski's prescient insights concerning how to discern the original contents of the ideology from its pathological counterpart, as well as the various roles this diseased counterpart plays in a progressively deteriorating society.

SOTT Focus: Extreme Heat Dominates Headlines, But Rollercoaster Weather Should Worry us Most - What's Going on?

Snow Germany May 5th
Snow fell across parts of Germany on May 5th 2019.
As parts of Europe enter a second heatwave this summer and battle wildfires to the drumbeat of weather warnings and climate change alarm, other parts of the world look on in envy as they shiver in their summer shorts.

Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands have just beaten an all-time heat record. The UK is set to do the same. France did it last month, but could come close again this week. Portugal has just brought one wildfire under control, and warns of a "very high" risk of more, as are Spain and Italy.

But earlier in July, Germany and the Netherlands hit a record-low night-time temperature of under -1 C, and Switzerland was a few degrees colder than its summer averages.

All the while Moscow is getting soaked with rain in a July that's set to become the coldest in over 40 years. We asked climate and weather experts what's going on.

SOTT Focus: Tiananmen Redux? West Pushing Baba Beijing to Send PLA Into Hong Kong

Note before starting: when writing 'CIA', or more correctly, the CIA-complex, I include all the West's spy agencies, among them MI6 (UK), DGSE (France), BND (Germany), ASIS (Australia), etc.; their Ministries of Foreign Affairs, embassies; thousands of front NGOs, which are financed by the above and by billionaire global capitalists, such as George Soros and Pierre Omidyar. We can also include NATO and its military contractors, the West's government-managed 'free press', as well as transnational corporations, which are full of CIA non-official covers (NOCs), not to mention global and local organized crime cartels, who do a lot of their black ops. It's all one big Frankenstein family, raping and plundering the world's human and natural resources, while making the 99% - you and me - poorer and poorer.
hong kong protests
On July 1st, 1997 Britain finally renounced its 110-year colonial control over Hong Kong (HK). Margaret Thatcher and Deng Xiaoping had hammered out the Basic Law, which set the course for China's reintegrated Special Administrative Region (HKSAR). The concept was a novel one, One Country, Two Systems, which was to last for 50 years, until 2047. It stipulates that Hong Kong is an inseparable part of China, over which the Mainland has the ultimate right to make all necessary administrative and policy decisions, but the SAR would have a high degree of independence in its legislature and judiciary. On that day, the PLA took over all of Britain's military properties on the territory's islands and on the mainland of HK, in Kowloon and New Territories. There are 1-2 divisions of PLA troops there (about 9,000), including small naval and air force detachments. They stay put, raising and lowering the Chinese flag every day and doing military drills to stay sharp. I've never seen a PLA soldier on Hong Kong's streets, so they must change into their civvies when they leave their bases.

SOTT Focus: New MH17 Doc Reveals Evidence Tampering, Dutch Cover-up of Forged Recordings, Hidden Ukrainian Radar Records

mahathir
mh17 lies
A new documentary film by Max van der Werff, the leading independent investigator of the Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 disaster, has revealed breakthrough evidence of tampering and forging of prosecution materials; suppression of Ukrainian Air Force radar tapes; and lying by the Dutch, Ukrainian, US and Australian governments. An attempt by agents of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to take possession of the black boxes of the downed aircraft is also revealed by a Malaysian National Security Council official for the first time.

The sources of the breakthrough are Malaysian — Prime Minister of Malaysia Mohamad Mahathir; Colonel Mohamad Sakri, the officer in charge of the MH17 investigation for the Prime Minister's Department and Malaysia's National Security Council following the crash on July 17, 2014; and a forensic analysis by Malaysia's OG IT Forensic Services of Ukrainian Secret Service (SBU) telephone tapes which Dutch prosecutors have announced as genuine.

The 298 casualties of MH17 included 192 Dutch; 44 Malaysians; 27 Australians; 15 Indonesians. The nationality counts vary because the airline manifest does not identify dual nationals of Australia, the UK, and the US.

The new film throws the full weight of the Malaysian Government, one of the five members of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT), against the published findings and the recent indictment of Russian suspects reported by the Dutch officials in charge of the JIT; in addition to Malaysia and The Netherlands, the members of the JIT are Australia, Ukraine and Belgium. Malaysia's exclusion from the JIT at the outset, and Belgium's inclusion (4 Belgian nationals were listed on the MH17 passenger manifest), have never been explained.

SOTT Focus: Every Woman Has a Right to Have Her Scrotum Waxed

Jessica Yaniv trans
Refusing to wax a woman's balls is transphobia at its most blatant... and yet here we are, in 2019, still disrespecting trans women's rights by denying them a smooth nutsack.

I'm referring of course to the recent publicity surrounding Jessica Yaniv, a stunning and brave trans woman who has filed complaints against more than a dozen female waxers with the Human Rights Council in British Columbia. And what is the justification these women have attempted to make in order to disguise their obvious bigotry? Well, among other flimsy excuses, 'religious grounds' (the majority of these women are immigrants) and the bizarre claim from one of them that her husband feared for her safety due to the fact that she works from home and has small children to take care of. What on earth does a woman have to fear from a 200+ lbs trans woman who is simply asking to come round to her home and have the hairs removed from her testicle satchel?

SOTT Focus: Objective:Health - Stress is Not the Best so Give it a Rest!

O:H header
It seems everyone these days is experiencing some level of stress, with most of us having what we'd probably classify as too much stress. But despite the common goal of a stress-free existence, a certain level of periodic stress is actually necessary for the organism to function properly.

Anything can be a stress on the body, whether it's work, relationships, toxic exposure, injury or even poor eating habits or lack of sleep. But much of the negative effects of stress have more to do with how we experience and react to these stressors. Why is it that some people seem to thrive in highly stressful environments, while others seem to be crushed by relatively minor stressors?

How is it that stress gets under our skin? What affect does it have on our brains and bodies? How can we help to mitigate our stress?

Join us on this episode of Objective:Health as we talk about the biology of stress and what you can do about it. And stay tuned for Zoya's Pet Health Segment as she explores the phenomenon of dogs knowing when their owners are coming home.

SOTT Focus: MindMatters: How Universities Are Destroying Young Minds With Pathological Thinking

coddling
© SOTT
How has it come to be that our universities, societal norms and cultural values have taken a sharp turn down the road of instilling stupidity - instead of intelligence? When we see that the most tried and true (and ancient) approaches to the use of mind and emotions are being relegated to the dung heap, when we notice that many of the most advanced ideas put forth from cognitive behavioral therapy are being ignored - and indeed, inverted - what are we to make of this? On this week's MindMatters we look at these questions and make use of Greg Lukianoff and Jonathan Haidt's recent book The Coddling of the American Mind.
