England: UFO Solway sightings

Extra terrestrial activity over the Solway Firth is hotting up, according to a UFO research group.

Sightings of orange lights over West Cumbria have recently "gone crazy" according to founder of the North West UFO Group, Pat Regan.

"We've had around 12 reports come from the Workington and Maryport area," he said.

"We've had others from Silloth and Ambleside and most of them seem to be very similar. Activity over West Cumbria has gone crazy since the new year."

The latest witness report came on Thursday when an astronomy enthusiast spotted two orange balls of light moving at great speed over the Solway Firth over towards Moresby and Whitehaven and on to the north east.

England: UFO mystery for revellers

Revellers in Shrewsbury spotted unusual orange lights moving in the sky above the town over the weekend - adding further sightings to the county's UFO phenomenon.

The lights were seen moving in the same direction at about 11.30pm on Saturday by a number of people in the town, including revellers at C21 in Abbey Foregate. It comes after UFO experts launched an inquiry.

The investigation in Shropshire follows a number of sightings in the area.

Australia: Alien UFOs - Territorians believe

Belief in UFOs is a faith issue for Territorians, the results of an exclusive Northern Territory News poll show.

Most of those surveyed believed in UFOs - but that doesn't mean they've seen one.

The telephone survey revealed 60 per cent of Territorians surveyed believe UFOs exist, but only 16 per cent have seen one.

Not even "evidence" of alien contact with Earth would convince half the respondents.

Stonehenge, the Egyptian pyramids, crop circles and ice on Mars were cited by 42 per cent of respondents as proof of extra-terrestrial contact.

US: Fleet of boomerang-shaped objects hover over Carlsbad, California

Carlsbad, California - 3/30/2009 - At least ten boomerang-shaped objects were seen hovering in the sky for over one hour. The objects were flashing red, white and blue. There was no apparent pattern to the flashes, just a steady changing back and forth. After observing the stationary objects for approximately 10 minutes, the witness noticed a jet fly by. The objects didn't move as the jet flew by. The witness went inside to take a shower, and upon his return noticed that there were still four or five of the objects visible to the naked eye.

England: More on Rendlesham...

Things are getting very weird regarding yesterday's post about a bear seen in Rendlesham Forest. First we had the sighting of Jenny Pearce, who said: "I saw it moving through the trees ahead. It was much bigger than a dog. I picked up my son and left for the car straight away."

However, as this new story shows (which has surfaced today), the tale of the bear - and the accompanying You Tube link - were part of a publicity campaign by a theater production company that was putting on a version of Shakespeare's A Winters Tale - which includes a famous stage-direction: "Exit, pursued by a bear."

There is a bear in Rendlesham Forest, or so says The East Anglian Daily Times.

"At least three people claim to have seen the grizzly beasts in the forest within the last week, although bears are not native to Britain. [...]

One of those who saw the creature is Jenny Pearce who said: "I was on the green at Rendlesham Forest having a picnic with my three-year-old son and his friend's family. After the picnic we stayed to play and explore the woods. While we were in the forest I saw a large animal moving through the trees ahead. I thought it was a big dog, so I picked up my son because he has never really got into dogs and gets easily scared. But as it continued away from us it was clearly not a dog. It was much bigger and there wasn't anyone there to be walking it if it was a large dog."

China: UFO over town causes mayhem

In the Chinese town of Yongan a mammoth UFO that was described by residents as dark and long was seen by shocked residents.

The sighting occurred at 8.45pm on March 14. The huge 'Mother ship' style craft was seen emerge from cloud cover and hover over the town. Dozens of residents scrambled into their homes to find cameras but returned to discover the craft had disappeared as quickly as it had appeared.

Mexico and Argentina: No Trespassing - UFO Close Encounters of the Second Kind (CE-2's)

UFOs don't come as close to us as they used to.

Time was where a bright-eyed saucer buff could read stories of unidentified objects coming close enough to the surface to singe treetops, set off home alarms, cause car and truck engines to sputter and die, o else inflict strange physical symptoms on innocent bystanders. In the Aughts, they either fly high over our heads, teasing digital cameras and camcorders, or else go straight to business and engage in the sordid business of abductions. No candy and flowers first.

In fact, it's hard to sit down to write an article about what used to be one of the most exciting topics of the early years of UFO research: the moment when the objects that have so captivated our interest for fifty years ceased to be "lights in the sky" and became objects - solid, semisolid, transparent - that touched the surface of our world and left behind measurable effects.

USAF: East coast 'Bright light' not man-made object

Washington - The flashing lights and booming sounds that were attributed to a piece of orbiting space junk were not the result of a man-made object, according to the United States Air Force.

In an e-mail sent to WTOP, Stefan Bocchino of the USAF Joint Space Operations Center says the "bright light" seen over parts of the East Coast Sunday night was not a result of a man-made space object.

The Joint Space Operations Center tracks more than 19,000 man-made objects in space, but no natural phenomena.

It was first believed that the lights and sounds were caused by space junk related to the Russian rocket Soyuz docking with the International Space Stations Saturday.

England: Bear sighting in Suffolk woods was 'promotional' hoax staged by theatre group

Reports of a brown bear roaming through a Suffolk forest were part of an elaborate hoax dreamed up by a team of actors to promote a play, it has emerged.

Ramblers and dog walkers were urged to take care after bear sightings were reported around Rendlesham Forest near Woodbridge, Ipswich.

But the mystery of the alleged sightings was finally solved as bare-faced theatre bosses admitted they had dreamed the whole thing up.

The Red Rose Chain Theatre Company, who were staging an outdoor summer production of Shakespeare's A Winter's Tale, admitted they were behind the stunt.
