US: Is the old Chesapeake school really haunted?

But today it is a gym and home of a food pantry, which means the place is the hangout for adults. So who is mysterious apparition of a little girl who supposedly roams the halls?
Chesapeake, Ohio - There was a time when the sight of a young child would not be unique in the halls of the what is now the Chesapeake Community Center. That's because the old buff brick building on State Route 7 was once the East School in the upper end of Chesapeake.

But today it is a gym and home of a food pantry, which means the place is the hangout for adults. So who is that little girl who allegedly roams the halls?

Her story remains a mystery but her "existence" is a reality, at least to those who claim to have seen her.

For most people, even just the briefest mention of monsters and mysterious creatures inevitably conjures up stark and surreal imagery of such famous beasts as Bigfoot, the Loch Ness Monster, Ogopogo, the Abominable Snowman, sea-serpent, and the infamous, vampire-like Chupacabras of the island of Puerto Rico.

Less well known, however, is the rich and wide variety of strange and bizarre beasts that have been regularly reported from the land down-under. So, I figured that for this week's Lair of the Beasts column, I would enlighten you a bit on some of these particular animal-oddities.

US: UFO witness videotapes craft near remote Florida hunting camp

St. Marks - Feb. 19, 2009 - Three men at a remote hunting camp near the Gulf of Mexico spotted a strange light in the sky. One chased the object on a 4-wheeler and captured the anomaly using both video and a digital still camera.

David Smith rode three miles through the woods tracking the object until he located an open area which gave him a better view. His digital still photos were not looking good, so he switched to video. The video shows the object "morphing" - changing shape. David also noticed that the object emitted a sound each time it changed shape - which was picked up on the video.

Poland: Ghost allegedly haunts village church

Parishioners of a Catholic church in Poland are claiming that they are constantly seeing a ghost praying within the building.

The Church, located in the village of Szedzislawiu in Lower Silesia has now allegedly been spooked by the spirit for months. Apparently, three members of the church have seen the ghost, all on separate occasions. He has been seen at the front of the church, looking up to a sign that says in Polish 'Jesus, in you I trust', and has also been seen kneeling on a bench.

Time Approx: 2:00 p.m.

Brian, this past Sunday, February 15, 2009 I observed three objects going in a south bound direction. The altitude was very high, above 35,000. Speed was high, sub sonic. As I observed these objects a British Airways 747 was on it's final heading west towards IAH. These objects were not airplanes. This was the same week that an object was seen burning over Austin, Texas. I know I saw something, but I don't know what it was.

Maryville, Tennessee residents report unexplained explosions

It's startling residents, making houses shake, and causing the 911 phone lines to light up as they did on Monday and Thursday.

There's no doubt folks that live along South Ruth and South Cedar are hearing something.

They made 9-1-1 calls.

But there hasn't been an earthquake, a sonic boom, or any kind of accident near there.

As to what it is, it's as clear as mud.

The neighborhood between Maryville high school and the middle school is a quiet neighborhood, usually.

But Monday morning and Thursday night, residents there heard explosions captured by 911 phone calls.

Received the following report and sketch from Jody yesterday, Friday, February 20, 2009.

According to Jody he was driving on the freeway when he spotted what he believes to be a UFO. He followed it for about 7 minutes before it disappeared. He did not have a camera or camera phone with him.

He was hoping someone in the L.A. area saw the same object and managed to capture a picture of it.

Jody used the submission form to make his report.

December 7th has been etched into the American consciousness as one of the deadliest days in its maritime history. On December 7th 1941 the Japanese struck the American Naval fleet in Pearl Harbor, an attack that sent both nations headlong into a bloody and culturally changing conflict.

However there was another maritime tragedy that took place on the same date some 32 years earlier.

On December 7th 1909 the at 11 a.m., the Marquette & Bessemer No. 2, a 350-foot-long steel-hulled car ferry, left the port of Conneaut, Ohio with a cargo of rail cars filled to the brim with coal. The heavy laden ship headed north, bound for Port Stanley, Ontario. A notable passenger onboard the Marquette & Bessemer No. 2 was Albert Weis of Erie, the treasurer of the Keystone Fish Company. Weis carried $32,000 in a leather briefcase in order to purchase a Port Stanley fishery for his employers at the Fish Company.

Poland: Three spherical objects over Olsztyn

On the 30th of January 2009 around 5 pm. Mr. Marcin K. walked along the crowded pavement of the Pieniezny Street located in the center of Olsztyn (northern Poland). Suddenly he noticed 3 spheres of light in the sky above the building on the opposite side of the street.


Comment: Yes, the chinese lantern excuse is really getting star billing these days. Even mores so than Venus and the ever favorite "swamp gas".

US: Odd occurrences in Pennsylvania on the rise in 2008

Reported sightings of Bigfoot, UFOs and other mysterious phenomena were more widely scattered in Pennsylvania in 2008 than in the previous year, according to Greensburg researcher Stan Gordon, who has been keeping tabs on such incidents for nearly 50 years.

According to Gordon, who recently released his annual report of strange goings-on in the Keystone State, an array of unusual episodes that also included encounters with giant birds, strange sounds and puzzling footprints originated in 50 Pennsylvania counties last year, compared to reports received from 37 counties in 2007.
