A Ryde woman who said she saw a late night UFO 'near miss' has appealed for other witnesses to come forward.

She said at 11.10pm on Saturday the police spotter plane, circling the south of the town, was involved in a low-altitude 'near miss' with three other craft.

Police, who confirmed their spotter plane was in the area and that three officers were on the ground searching for occupants of a stolen car, who ran off after a crash, said none of the officers reported seeing any unusual activity.

A police statement said: "The pilot, observers and police officers on the ground did not see, hear or come into contact with any other aircraft while flying over the Island at this time.

A witness from Elk Grove, California, watched as "an extremely bright sphere" approached in the sky toward his apartment complex - an object that he captured on video, according to witness testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) database.

US: Maine UFOs seen on 17-minute video

A Newport, Maine, witness captured more than 17 minutes of video of three UFOs in the sky on March 10, according to a witness report from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) database.

Two videos were posted by the witness on YouTube April 23.

The object at times appears to be a bright round light, and then as the witness zooms in with his camera, the points of light on the object make it appear to have a triangular shape.

The UFO Traffic Report for Friday, April 24, 2009, includes 13 sightings over nine states, according to selected witness statements filed with the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) database.

Most interesting from today's files include a New Jersey man who nearly loaded his shotgun as he drove under a triangular-shaped UFO on April 17, a California witness with incredible detail to his description on April 21 of a V or boomerang-shaped object that caused the comment - "The more I stared at it, the more the shape became visible." - an Arizona witness alone on a rural stretch of highway April 20 who spots a triangle UFO and encounters a bright flash of light and possible car trouble, a New Jersey witness on April 19 who observed two lights that didn't seem to belong at the tree top level, a story out of Arizona on April 21 where a witness watched a "gyrating object with flashing lights" apparently shining a beam of light out to approaching aircraft, a teardrop-shaped object that moved over a New Mexico freeway on April 21 - and an April 21 report out of Texas from a retired air traffic controller who observed a stationary and vertical cylinder in the sky.

US: UFO flying low over Las Vegas strip

A licensed pilot and his wife took a cue from the crowd and looked upward as they waited for a Las Vegas show to begin April 21 - and observed what appeared to be a triangular-shaped UFO or an object in a V-formation, according to witness testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) database.

The object was almost directly overhead at about 10 p.m., the witness said, and "a triangular formation of lights, an open V-shape, perhaps three times wider than it was tall. The leading point of the V was directed several degrees west of due north."

He attempted to video tape the sighting, but was unable to capture the object during the 8 to 10-minute sighting.

Mysterious figure 'spotted'

A mysterious figure resembling a human being was sighted on the Doha Corniche's parking lot, according to a report published in a local Arabic daily.
The report is based on the statement of an Arab expatriate lady who said she had seen the strange figure near the Oryx statue while walking in the area.
Quoting the woman, the daily said she took a picture of it in spite of being terribly frightened.

The Plank Road Panther has become one world-travelin' cat. If he is indeed just one.

We've done several stories about this mysterious, zoo-sized, catlike animal, usually described as black or dark gray, that many people have seen in the area between Plato Center and Pingree Grove.

But the feline has changed habits. From last summer through January, it was seen only in the area between Plato and Pingree. Then suddenly, people in that area stopped seeing it. But people all over the far-northwest suburbs began seeing a similar cat. We have mentioned some of these incidents in The Courier-News before; others we haven't.

US: Texas couple captures V-shaped UFO on camera at close range

A Texas couple and their son were driving along Highway 285 heading home from Carlsbad Caverns when they noticed four lights about 50 feet off of the ground, according to witness testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) database.

The object first appeared to be in a V-formation as it rose to about 1,000 feet.

As they watched, the object "flashed out" in front of them.

Scotland: Widow's UFO Shock

A glowing object in the sky left Joan Morrison gasping in amazement as she looked out of her kitchen window.

The Inverness woman had visitors at Burnside Cottage on Tower Brae South last Friday when she went to make a cup of coffee and saw the UFO.

"I'm not a sci-fi buff or anything like that but I just couldn't believe what I was seeing," said Mrs Morrison, a 58 year-old widow.

"I suppose it can best be described as a big square thing with a yellow and orange glow. There was no sound so it definitely wasn't a plane or a helicopter.

England: UFO Spotted Over Salford Precinct

On Tuesday night a UFO was seen blazing over Salford Precinct at around 10pm. Eye witness, Rachel, has described it as "a bright orange light, like a fire ball moving at a steady space. It was really weird".

It wasn't the sun by any chance? There's been similar spottings in Irlam a few nights before and all over Geater Manchester recently. There was even an 'encounter' in Eccles last year.
