Australia: Huge blast rocks homes

Hinterland properties across Guanaba and Canungra have been rocked by a mysterious explosion that has left police, fire crews and the Department of Defence scratching their heads.

Residents have told The Bulletin of a violent shockwave that hit about 8.30pm on Thursday, shattering windows and shaking houses.

The pulse was so strong a demountable building in Coomera Valley Drive shifted on the stumps it was mounted on.

But police have been unable to find any source of an explosion, a seismology expert has ruled out any earth tremor and the Defence Department is adamant there were no explosions at the nearby Canungra army base or supersonic aircraft over southeast Queensland on Thursday night.

Comment: It is very curious how out of all of these explanations, not once is there a mention that it is possible that it could be a meteorite exploding above the earth.

England: Brightlingsea - Police officer saw 'alien craft'

A police officer is one of a number of witnesses to report UFO sightings across Essex.

The unamed officer's account of what they saw has been published by the Ministry of Defence as it reveals all of the reports it received regarding "alien craft" in 2008.

The officer claims to have spotted strange lights in the sky above Brightlingsea on New Year's Eve.

It was described as a "bright orange/yellow light in the sky". It was "quite large" and about 1,500 to 2,000 ft up in the air.

UK: Thunderbird UFO Spotted Flying Above Bournemouth

British UFO experts went into orbit on Thursday in search of a Thunderbird, which was recently photographed flying high above Bournemouth.

The picture was taken by a professional photographer named Mark Wild.

The mystery craft, bright orange-red like Thunderbird 3, was caught in a head-on shot on camera hovering above the resort on the Dorset coast.

The stunning snap emerged on the day when it was revealed that a dossier made public by the Ministry of Defence showed UFO sightings doubled last year.

A couple have told they came face-to-to face with a big cat on their patio.

Heidi Robinson said her husband, Dave, had gone outside at their Whatstandwell cottage to gather some logs when he encountered the beast.

Mrs Robinson, of Blundestone Lane, said her husband had joked that it was a werewolf, as it had been a full moon when he saw the animal.

"It was about 10pm and Dave was about to go outside to get some logs and went to the back door when this big black cat appeared and ran across the patio," said the 36-year-old.

"It then climbed up on to a garden wall and jumped over the side and there is about an eight-foot drop to the bottom.

Were you watching the township skies between 8:30 and 9 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 26?

If you were, then perhaps you, like many others, saw what appeared to be three reddish lights the size of golf balls hovering in the night sky.

According to a woman who called this newspaper on Thursday, Jan. 29, the lights silently hovered "about a foot apart in a triangle" before splitting apart, then coming together and flying off.

The woman, who lives in the township's Ironia section, declined to identify herself, saying she didn't want people to think she was of unsound mind.

But, she said several people and students at the high school saw it, and heard from police that the lights had been seen elsewhere in the township.

Comment: There is always the possibility of some sightings being chinese lanterns. But it is hardly likely that they would stop, do aerial maneuvers and then fly off.

The "chinese lantern" explanation is getting as old as swamp gas and Venus.

More Telegraph readers have come forward to report strange goings on in the night sky over Coventry.

Great-grandmother June Smith described how a crowd of amazed neighbours in Stoke Aldermoor gathered to watch bright orange lights.

Five neighbours claimed they saw what looked like a helicopter pursuing ten glowing lights in the shape of an oval.

Minutes later another eye-witness saw the same thing above another part of the city, but this time the orbs had unfolded into a straight line.

Before the UFO appeared there was an earthquake of 3.3 on the Richter scale. The flying object changed its shape, colour and size.

According to eyewitnesses, a UFO was seen in the sky above Novi Travnik in Bosnia-Herzegovina on Wednesday evening, Tip.ba reported.

Motorists using the A483 between Welshpool and Newtown have been urged to be alert after a mysterious woman was spotted near Belan recently.

Carl Guntrip and his 18-year-old girlfriend set out from Newtown en route to Shrewsbury cinema last week but their journey took a seemingly paranormal turn near the village of Belan.

Carl, 21, described the chilling moment which occurred on Saturday, January 24, between 8.15pm and 8.30pm.

"Something just did not seem right," said Carl. "We had just past the Horseshoes pub and were approaching Belan when we saw something on the side of the road.

When two strange objects were spotted hovering in the sky above Bilton on Christmas Day, the Harrogate Advertiser was inundated with further sightings of UFOs.

However many readers believed the glowing orange balls, spotted by Maureen Withers at 7.30pm, to be Chinese paper lanterns.

And this was the explanation given by two children who launched the lights from Pannal.

They're back! UFOs spotted buzzing over Bradford have mysteriously re-appeared in the night skies.

He shouted to daughter Laura, 28, who recorded what they believe was a close encounter on her mobile phone while he dashed upstairs to get his camcorder.

The astonishing video he handed to the T&A shows a glowing orb - similar to the one spotted in late autumn last year and on New Year's Eve.
