Darting silently in formation, the mysterious glowing orbs light up the night sky.
Some say these orange lights even weave in between each other with the precision of a synchronised flying team from some far corner of the universe.
Clusters of more than 100 have been spotted across Britain and even Holland, leaving onlookers with an eerie sense that, for all the mystifying beauty of the strange objects, they may have just witnessed an armada of invading UFOs.
A group of yellow lights spotted over Lincoln, England, appeared to move in a flying formation before disappearing into the atmosphere, witnesses said.
Paul Slight, 54, who used his cell phone to take pictures of the lights, said he first spotted them in the sky at about 10:30 p.m. Sunday, The Sun reported Wednesday.
"There were 26 of them at first, dodging and darting in between each other like they were playing a game, he said. After that, seven more arrived from the right hand side and weaved through the crowd of lights like strange kinds of aircraft. After five minutes of moving around, the flickering yellow objects hung in the air for a second then shot off into the sky and disappeared."
Could a mystery noise dubbed the Mawnan Hum be the same phenomenon that has disturbed sleepers in across the globe since the sixties?
The strange humming noise has been likened by some to a far away diesel engine. Council chair Dennis Gartside and his wife are among those who have heard the high pitched whine.
A notice has now been posted in the village by parish clerk John Harrop asking anyone who is being plagued by the noise to come forward.
John said: "Since the notice went up we have only had two more reports, both from Falmouth. It seems to be heard on the sea facing side of the village. I suspect it could be the ships in the bay."

Description: I just read about the Port Angeles-Sequim and Satsop sighting. I realized that was the same night I also saw a large, extremely bright light that I couldn't explain. I was reading sighting reports because I just had an unusual daytime sighting with my family after a birthday party. I was actually looking for more reports on what we may have seen today (May 31, 2009). The 20th of May I was up very late (3:30 AM) as I am a night person and didn't have to work the next day. I saw a very large, bright white light to the east of me, but probably less than a half mile away. It was low in the sky, just over tree top level and I thought it was a plane going to the Port Angeles airport west of town. I often watch them coming in. I look out the windows late at night often because I have always been fascinated with the sky. When I first saw the light, it seemed strange because it just seemed to sit there for a while (3 to 4 minutes) then moved very slowly south toward the Straits of Juan De Fuca. Then after just a short distance it seemed to turn and head east towards Seattle, but it was always the same bright, white light.

Description: My wife and I saw what we believe was a UFO. We live in Valrico, Florida and I went outside due to the loud activity of 2 helicopters flying over my house. I'm not sure what they were doing at that early hour and were pretty much out of my view when I ran out to my front lawn. I quickly scanned the skies admiring the beautiful stars and to the west approximately 20 degrees from where the horizon would be was a stationary object approximately 12 to 15 miles west that would put it over the Tampa Bay airport area. I quickly went to get my wife out of bed and we both saw the same thing, which was 3 to 4 lights, blue, red, green and yellow in an alternating pattern. I quickly grabbed my digital camera and took 2 pictures with my zoom on full and looks like they did not turn out.

Witness Statement: Regarding the sighting near Bognor Regis on 26th April 2009. My wife, son and I were walking by the pier at Bognor when we saw 2 Orange lights in the sky. As we got closer, we could see they were moving and was soon joined by a third light in between the other two lights. We watched them for a few minutes and the lights started to dim and fade away. After a few minutes they reappeared in a line, and again we watched them for a few minutes until they started moving away and fading. We did take a picture but it did not come out too well.

Witness Statement: Saw 5 orange lights in a straight line, traveling E>W, they disappeared, then another 5 followed. This happened 4 times. Saw another, larger Orange light, moving in the opposite direction, toward the smaller ones. First thought was chinese lanterns, but can't explain why they were traveling in opposite directions.

Witness Statement: Looking out of my bedroom window I saw a bright orange ball of light with what seemed to be a single white light underneath rise up and hover behind trees, then disappear heading due north at great speed. The object made no noise. I watched it till it became a pinprick of light. Sighting ended at 12.17am. This object surely must have been observed by many more people....conditions were clear and cloudless.

Witness Statement: This was more of a strange experience than a sighting but definitely very abnormal. Was sitting playing my computer till early hours of the morning, I'm used to this as I work nights. Suddenly the power starts to flicker a bit over a period of about 2 hours. I put it down to the electrical company as half of the street lights had gone out too. Anyway, I continued to play my computer when suddenly a very low frequency humming noise came from what seemed like outside yet it was loud enough that one would believe it was in the house. The noise was a low up and then down noise if you catch my drift, sounded almost exactly what you'd expect a hovering spacecraft to sound like. As it happened, I didn't move a muscle lol...I don't know why, I didn't think to look out the window, it didn't even cross my mind.

Witness Statement: Was driving back last week from Brighton early in the morning down the A27 towards Eastbourne. As I approached the a roundabout that leads to the Cuifail Tunnel in my van, I noticed in the beautiful morning sky, a couple of jets in the distance. As I looked down to the grassy hills, I saw a large flat object, moving very slowly over the hills. This object I think was 3 times the size of any plane today...and I was so shocked that I almost crashed into the barriers!
