US: Object in sky has observer stumped

It's a bird. It's a plane. It's ... a UFO?

That suspicion crossed David Kent's mind when he spotted a bright turquoise ball in the sky Wednesday night from his Hockinson, Washington home. Kent saw the object travel across the sky before disappearing a few seconds later. He quickly dismissed the UFO idea, though.

"I don't believe in that stuff," Kent said.

Experts don't believe what Kent saw was a UFO either, but said it's likely space debris or a fireball, otherwise known as a brighter-than-normal meteor. The National Weather Service didn't have reports of anyone else seeing the object.

US: 'Bright flash of light in sky' reports continue

Saratoga Springs, New York - A brilliant flash lit up the sky three times here last evening, according to witnesses, then it happened again four hours later. Following is the unedited witness report from friends Jonah and Josh.
Last night at around midnight, our power dimmed, and a brilliant orange flash lit up the whole sky. This happened about 3 times within the next 2 minutes, during which the color shifted to a greener color. Then 4 hours later it happened again, only this time appeared to be moving down our street. The light, as described from a fellow New Yorker in Rochester, seemed to connect the sky to the ground. About 6 other people on my street have seen it, and two other people i know of about a half mile away saw it.

Taiwan: UFO photo declared real by expert

A UFO snapped at a popular tourist day-trip destination in Taiwan has been declared the real thing by that country's foremost UFO expert.

A Mr Cai and his family were out at the Tatachai Pass scenic area in the Nantou region this new year (Jan 1 2009) when they and some other people noticed what appeared to them to be flying saucer in the sky near a small mountain. Mr Cai's 5 year old son took a photo of the object.

Mr Jiang Huang Rong, Chairman of the UFO association of Taiwan, who openly concedes that the majority of UFO photos are hoaxes or incorrectly identified objects, thinks this photo is genuine based on analysis he has done comparing the object in question to other photos snapped by unconnected people in the same area, in Taiwan, and throughout the world.

According to legend, the Nabau was a terrifying snake more than 100ft in length and with a dragon's head and seven nostrils.

But now local villagers living along the Baleh river in Borneo believe the mythical creature has returned after this photo of a gigantic snake swimming along the remote waterways has emerged.

The picture, taken by a member of a disaster team monitoring flood regions by helicopter, has sparked a huge debate about whether the photos are genuine or merely the work of photo-editing software.

US: Call center may move if odor source not found

Indiana, Pennsylvania - The Unemployment Compensation Call Center in White Township may be moving to a new location if the building's landlord doesn't get to the bottom of a mysterious odor in the building by early March.

Troy Thompson, a spokesman for the Department of Labor and Industry, said officials sent a letter Feb. 6 to the building's landlord, Capital Venture Properties Inc. in Hollidaysburg, stating that the company had 30 days to correct the problem or the department would default on its 10-year lease set to expire Aug. 31, 2011, for untenable conditions. Labor and Industry entered the lease agreement on Sept. 1, 2001, for the building at 630 Kolter Drive.

Inspectors have been working since October to determine the origin of a smell that has permeated the building on and off, causing eye, nose and throat irritations, headaches, nausea and other symptoms for employees.
