Does a hulking, 7-foot-tall, ape-like creature roam the rugged mountains and forests of Northern New York and Vermont?

It may seem far-fetched, but accounts can be traced back to Indian lore and even the logs of Samuel de Champlain.

While the lake creature Champ remains the region's best known 'monster,' in recent years, two nationally televised documentaries - on the History and Discovery Channels - have featured entire segments on Bigfoot sightings in upstate New York and Vermont.

The most recent, "Monster Quest," in 2008, chronicled numerous sightings of a large, hairy, ape-like creature on both sides of Lake Champlain.

This footage of a mysterious light in the sky was shot in Carlisle on Easter Sunday night.

Taken from Chertsey Grove looking back towards the city, the fireball-like object was spotted by a group of people at about 10pm.

One said it moved in a straight line before suddenly changing direction. It was then spotted about five minutes later and did exactly the same before disappearing at speed.

This amazingly clear video of a shape-shifting UFO was sent in to us by a reader. Allegedly it was filmed in Rio in Brazil by a child but we cannot confirm this. It is certainly a cut above your average UFO video and no one can accuse it of being nothing more than a fuzzy blob of light. The object begins as a 'jellyfish' shaped craft and then transforms into an 'octopus' UFO (watch the whole video for the full effect).

A sharp-eyed resident of the town of Bendigo in Victoria, Australia noticed a strange object moving in the sky on Tuesday evening earlier this week. The unnamed witness noted that:

'( I ) Just stepped outside this evening, enjoying a cuppa and this unidentifiable flying thing appears in the sky travelling steadily, I instantly ran inside and grabbed the HD video cam and captured what I could. As i was in a hurry, I didn't switch the cam to night vision mode, it was set to sunny, though it was dusk.

As for the shakiness, well I couldn't believe my eyes! This object tracked across the sky with a relative velocity moving in an arch from north to south.

Just when you thought crop circles were a thing of the past, the first mysterious formation of 2009 has been spotted.

The intricate pattern measuring approximately 60 ft in diameter was spotted on Tuesday in a remote area near Avebury in Wiltshire.

It is made up of two segments of arcs of decreasing size between the concentric inner circles.

Campers who spent a night in Pendle were baffled after spotting what they have described as four UFOs flying over Nelson.

Luke Robinson was one of a group of eight who stayed in the Marsden Park area. He said: "At about 1- 46 a.m. I noticed a bright yellow light in the sky across the field, like the sun was rising but obviously it wasn't, at that early hour, though it was as bright.

"I pointed it out to everyone else and we went to look closer. One of my friends said: 'It's a bright yellow cloud' and then the light gradually started to fade.

Yakima - A new study finds Yakima has one of the highest UFO reporting rates per capita. Popular Mechanics released the study, it shows by county the number of UFO sightings reported from 1947 to 2005.

Yakima County ranked fourth among small cities with 227 sightings and King County was second with 621 reported sightings among major metro counties.

One center for UFO sightings found there was an increase in areas near military training zones. There is a training reservation in Yakima, which could be one of the reasons.

It's a squid, it's an octopus, it's ... a mystery from the deep.

What appears to be a half-squid, half-octopus specimen found off Keahole Point on the Big Island remains unidentified today and could possibly be a new species, said local biologists.

The specimen was found caught in a filter in one of Natural Energy Laboratory of Hawaii Authority's deep-sea water pipelines last week. The pipeline, which runs 3,000 feet deep, sucks up cold, deep-sea water for the tenants of the natural energy lab.

"When we first saw it, I was really delighted because it was new and alive," said Jan War, operations manager at NELHA. "I've never seen anything like that."

There has been an increase in triangular-shaped UFO reports coming in over the past couple of days. While the reports are scattered from all across the U.S., there are some similarities in descriptions. Many people are reporting that the lights seem foggy, hazy, and dim, while the objects appear to be somewhat transparent. The trend continued yesterday (April 16), including the following reports just received......

Bridgeport, Ohio - 4/16/2009

Witness observed lights in a triangular formation traveling west to east. The object was silent and moving very quickly, but was lower, faster and much larger than the normal air traffic coming to and from Pittsburgh International Airport. There were three very faint white lights at each corner.

US: Feline sightings spread to Pearl River, New York

With the number of wild animal sightings being reported this spring, you'd think Rockland County was more untamed than a suburb.

This time, a large feline was spotted roughly 10 miles from three other sites people have claimed to see them.

Dennis Ryan of Pearl River said he was walking his Labrador retriever along Ehrhardt Road early yesterday when he saw what he described as a mountain lion under a streetlight.

"The animal was walking south. It crossed the road and went into the bushes, then came back out, stared at me and moved toward me, though it wasn't stalking me or going to attack," Ryan said. "I could see it was thinking about it, though. The animal never showed fear."
