As the clock hits 5 p.m., many are racing to jump in their cars to go home. However, News 4 Assignment Editor Bob Cyphers didn't expect his Wednesday to end like this.

Cyphers was walking to get his car from a parking lot near Busch Stadium in St. Louis when he saw the back end of his Kia SUV had fallen into a large sinkhole.

"I was walking to get my car from work and we see the police scene here," Cyphers said. "And I think what is the excitement is over here and the closer I get the worse it looks."

Police said they do not know when the sinkhole in the lot opened up.

Bizarre cloud formation over western Arizona turns heads

A bizarre cloud formation over western Arizona Monday night had locals in Phoenix and Yuma pondering whether there was a rocket launch out of California's nearby Vandenberg Air Force Base or maybe even a visit from some rainbow friends.

However, there were no rocket launches scheduled to take place at the base Monday night, so it is most likely to be a curious cloud phenomenon, KVOA reported.

According to some viewers, the formation looked like cloud iridescence, which occurs when tiny water droplets or ice crystals in clouds diffract light producing beautiful rainbow colors in clouds.

Extreme weather and avalanches isolate Arctic community in Norway

The municipality of Berlevåg, in Norway's Lapland (Finnmark) has been experiencing problems of food deliveries and transport for six consecutive days. An avalanche and heavy snowing blocked the county road leading to the village on Friday, March 23, 2018. In addition, the ship from Hurtigruten cruise lines has had problems to dock due to bad weather conditions. On March 26, The Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate issued nationwide avalanche warnings due to the huge amounts of snow in the mountains and suddenly shifting temperatures.

Since Friday, the only road leading to Berlevåg, county road 890, has been largely closed due to the danger of avalanche. It was managed to be opened for short periods of time on Sunday and Monday by Norwegian Public Roads Administration. On Tuesday evening, a Hurtigruten ship was allowed to dock in the village, which was empty of food supplies like vegetables and milk. The avalanche danger level remains high, level 4 on many parts in Norway's Lapland (Finnmark).

Italian farmers predict crop shortage because of heavy rains while El Niño causes Peru's grape exports to drop 11%

fucino carrot onion crop
Italy: Bad weather affects carrot and onion production in Fucino Due to the heavy rain of the past few days, Fucino producers haven't been able to sow anything, therefore carrot and onion quantities will be very low in June. This of course will have repercussion on the numerous businesses focusing on these crops.

"The heavy rain is causing delays in the Fucino area. The soil is soaked, so you can't even set foot in the fields. We usually sow spring and summer carrots this time of year, but everything's been compromised. Onions destined to the domestic market won't probably even be sown," explained Domenico Fidanza, Councillor for Agriculture at the Celano municipality.

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like the situation is going to improve, as another weather front will hit Abruzzo over the next few days, bringing more rain.

Comment: We're seeing crop failures all over the world as the seasons become more erratic with brutal Winters dragging on into Spring or frosts starting earlier than expected. While it will cause havoc on our misinformed planet, all this is to be expected as we enter an Ice Age:

Plate tectonics are splitting the entire African continent say geologists

Things aren't looking good for Kenya right now-the country is literally splitting in two.

Enormous rifts have opened within the ground, that stretch across a large chunk of Kenya's countryside. One such tear, located in Narok County, is 66 feet in length and as much as 50 feet deep at its lowest point.

These rifts are causing a lot of trouble throughout the country, with commuters and supply trucks unable to travel safely without massive delays. One video that shows some of the devastation highlights an area of road that has to be filled in temporarily for the sake of keeping traffic flowing on a busy highway, but the solution is far from permanent, and only allows for a limited number of cars to make the crossing at any given time.

In other areas, conditions are even more terrifying for locals, with families having to abandon their homes out of fear that the rift will spear, swallowing their entire livelihoods whole.

Another metre of snowfall forecast for Easter in the Alps

Snow in the Alps
Snow in the Alps
Forecasters are currently expecting up to a metre of snow to fall on higher slopes in the Alps over the coming week.

After a mostly sunny weekend conditions have been turning snowier, particularly in the Western Alps, and up to two feet (60cm) of snow is now being forecast, much of that for Wednesday.

But the (less certain) longer term forecast is for it to keep snowing through the Easter weekend and in to the first week of April next week.

Avoriaz (pictured) says it expects 65cm of snow by Friday and nearly a metre by this time next week.

A graphic to describe all of the changes we as a planetary civilization will see unfold over the next 7 years culminating in reduced global crop production. We collectively need to start the conversation so we can begin to find solutions. What to expect: 1. Declining Solar Output 2. Weakening Magnetosphere 3.Out of season storms 4. Massive rain events, rivers from the sky 5.Huge and ever increasing size of hailstones 6. Increased meteor sightings and rattling explosions 7. Jet Streams wandering far out of their normal zones 8. Increases in cosmic rays which will trigger more eruptions and create thicker cloud layers 9. REDUCTION IN GLOBAL GRAIN YIELDS

NOAA's weather satellites film upward striking lightning and thundersnow in March

NOAA's weather satellites are always watching, which means they capture all of the wildest, weirdest weather shots that occur on planet Earth. Check out the round up of the wildest shots and videos NOAA released:

Upward striking lightning

The vast majority of lightning discharges around the world are "in-cloud" or "cloud-to-cloud" and the ones we see appear to strike from cloud to ground. However, "upward propagating discharges," or upside-down lightning strikes, are possible, but extremely rare. When this happens, the lightning strike begins at the ground and then travels up towards the clouds. High-speed camera studies have shown upward lightning flashes to be more common than once thought.
