Antifa's latest ploy: Woke parents set up 'shield walls' as protesters lay siege to Portland federal courthouse

Antifa members and their new reinforcements from parent groups faced off against federal agents in Portland, Oregon, once again, employing shield walls and flanks in tactics reminiscent of the ancient Greeks or Romans.

As midnight approached on Monday, more than 1,000 protesters had gathered outside the federal courthouse. Some among the crowd attempted to tear down barricades outside the courthouse and gain entry, taunting the police inside. Others in the group formed a shield wall to fend off any non-lethal munitions which might be fired at them.

The friendly, public face of the protests in the form of parent groups Wall of Moms and PDXDadPod had begun marching earlier on Monday night, amid calls for the dads to bring leaf blowers to help disperse expected tear gas later in the evening.

Capitalism may not survive 2020 global crisis, which will cut deeper and last longer than many predict

The current global crisis triggered by Covid-19 is the third capitalist crash in this century. And governments' incapacity to consider non-capitalist solutions threatens to keep deepening this crisis into capitalism's worst.

The first was in early 2000. Because it was triggered by the absurdly high prices of dot-com stocks, it got named the "dotcom crisis." In 2008, the trigger was widespread subprime mortgage default in the US and the crash was far more serious, one of the worst in capitalism's history, second only to the crash of the 1930s. And now, in 2020, the trigger was a viral pandemic, and we have a far deeper crash than in 2008.

Because capitalism's periodic downturns (crashes, recessions, depressions, crises, business cycles, busts, etc.) occur on average every four to seven years, attributing each one to its different trigger has the effect of distracting attention from the system's inherent instability. It also distracts from other basic problems that global capitalism has never solved. Those have now exploded together, converging on this capitalist downturn to make it extreme.

Portland warzone: 'Camouflaged' Feds are bundling riot organizers into unmarked vans

How widespread this is, and whether they're targeting vandals or casting a much broader net at demonstrators, are open questions as I write this. The two stories about this circulating today, one from WaPo and the other from Oregon Public Broadcasting, claim that "protesters" are being snatched as well.

What's not in question is that this is twice at least in the past two months that federal agents kitted out in military or paramilitary trappings have appeared on America's streets without any markings identifying who they are or what agency they're with. When it happened in D.C. last month in the first flush of George Floyd protests, the agents at least looked like cops in riot gear, not soldiers. The agents on the streets of Portland this week look like troops; they have a completely generic "POLICE" tag on their chests but otherwise they seem poised to deploy.

Comment: There are likely numerous reasons for the speculation regarding law enforcement attire and vehicular choices, such as:
One of the agencies involved in the federal effort, US Customs and Border Patrol (CBP), said on Friday that in one of the incidents that has been portrayed as the kidnapping of a protester, its officers quickly apprehended a man who was suspected of vandalizing federal property and attacking federal agents the previous day. The officers wore CBP insignia and identified themselves, the agency said.

'Education' or 'child abuse'? Wife of ex-Clinton adviser tells parents to WATCH PORN WITH KIDS, igniting internet while MSM promotes her

Should children be allowed to watch porn? They will anyway, so parents must watch it with them, says actress Ali Wentworth, the wife of ABC news anchor George Stephanopoulos, sending social media into a frenzy.

Wentworth's comments were slipped into a much larger conversation on Debra Messing's 'The Dissenters' podcast last week, but they found themselves highlighted on a number of platforms on Monday evening, especially by conservative pundits.

"In porn, women have been conditioned to look and act a certain way," Wentworth said. "They're performing, and it's dangerous to have boys see this as something women want. You can't stop them, so I'd watch it with them. I would look at the porn with them that one time."

The author and 'Jerry Maguire' actress went on to explain that she sees it as no different to scrolling through social media with her two teenage daughters. "I say, 'Do you see this girl? There's a hole she's trying to fill,'" she said.

Florida county 'mask-at-home' order draws bewilderment and outrage before authorities say it only applies to guests

A Covid-19 emergency order from Florida's Broward County seemingly mandating face coverings even at home has some Americans up in arms, but authorities - perhaps doing damage control - now say it applies only to guests.

The emergency order mandating masks in the home applies only to guests over the age of 10, Office of Public Communications media liaison Lori Shepard told prepper blog The Prepared on Monday. She explained that "if you're in your own home and you're with your family... the county is not asking you wear a mask."

"If somebody comes into your house and they're not a family member, you should ask them to wear a mask," she clarified.

As it's worded, however, last week's Emergency Order 20-22 appears to threaten Broward County residents and their guests with hefty legal penalties if they don't "mask up" at home. However, it's unclear how either interpretation of the order would be enforced, short of regular home visits by the authorities.

Monty Python's classic 'The Life of Brian' relentlessly mocked Christianity. Now we must do the same thing to the Church of Woke

Once banned for blasphemy, the Life of Brian has been recertified in Britain. Its eviscerating take on Christianity is exactly what's needed on the new religion of Woke before the PC brigade win the culture war for good.

'The Life of Brian', Monty Python's classic cinematic mocking of Christianity, was so scandalous for its blasphemy when it was released back in 1979 that it was actually banned by some British movie theaters, while others gave it the scarlet letter of an X rating.

An X certificate in those days was the movie rating equivalent of being stoned to death for saying, "Jehovah!"

As a sign of how dramatically the culture has shifted in the past 40 years, the British Board of Film Classification now rates 'The Life of Brian' a very warm and fuzzy 12A - suitable for viewers 12 and up.

Comment: Comedy used to be a cultural tool used to reflect on humanity's many absurdities. It says a lot that the degeneration of our culture has reached such a point where even comedy has adopted these absurdities in a wholly unhumorous manner.

St. Louis couple who defended home from BLM protesters charged with felony weapons count - UPDATE

The St. Louis couple who emerged from their mansion in a gated community and aimed weapons at protesters marching past them last month were each charged Monday with one felony count of unlawful use of a weapon.

Lawyers Mark McCloskey, 61, and Patricia McCloskey, 63, have said they were merely defending their home on a private street in an upscale neighborhood from a crowd that was marching to Mayor Lyda Krewson's house to protest racial injustice. Video and photographs showing Mark McCloskey wielding a rifle and Patricia McCloskey aiming a pistol at the marchers created a firestorm of controversy between those who felt the couple was legally defending their home and those who felt they were menacing peaceful protesters.

Comment:

UPDATE 21/07/2020: The Missouri AG moves to dismiss the 'political' charges against the McCloskeys:
State AG Eric Schmitt took to Twitter on Monday night with a video statement and a lengthy series of posts, arguing the case against Mark and Patricia McCloskey - which included a felony firearms charge as well as misdemeanor assault - "threatens to intimidate and deter law-abiding citizens from exercising their constitutional right of self-defense."

"The right to defend one's person, family, home and property has deep roots in Missouri law. Self-defense is the central component of the right to keep and bear arms, which receives the highest protection from the MO Constitution," wrote Schmitt, adding that he'd filed a pair of briefs to dismiss the charges.
In fact, this political prosecution sends a powerful and dangerous message: You exercise [your] right to keep and bear arms at your own peril. If you do, you may find yourself in prison.
Brought against the McCloskeys earlier on Monday by circuit attorney Kimberly Gardner, the suit alleges the couple illegally brandished weapons in a "threatening manner" at people "participating in a nonviolent protest." The two homeowners claim they felt the protesters posed a threat to their lives, arguing they acted in self-defense, however the charges against them moved ahead regardless.
Kim Gardner is a whole libtard circus in her own right. Bought and paid for by George Soros, she has been advancing his agenda for years in Missouri:

BLM activist says white men are 'common enemy', 'we need to get rid of them'

At a Black Lives Matter demonstration in London, a self-described mixed-race member of the LGBT community said that the concept of intersectionality means that there is "one common enemy: the white man" and therefore "we need to get rid of them".

On Sunday, Black Lives Matter protesters marched from Marble Arch in Hyde Park to Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens, where speakers spoke out against systemic racism and capitalism.

One of the speakers said that to understand the movement, it is important to understand the tenets of the left-wing sociological concept of "intersectionality".

"You can't talk about education, and you can't talk about black issues, and LGBT issues, and exclude them as if they're some individual issue; you need to be looking at this using intersectionality," he said in a Breitbart London exclusive video.

The speaker said that intersectionality "means recognising that there is one common enemy: the white man. The systems that they use are capitalism, patriarchy, and fascism. They were created and perpetuated by white men, for white men, in the interests of white men."

He added that "once we realise that we are all fighting the same fight, it just strengthens the army. A problem shared is a problem halved. Imagine if we all realised and came together and grouped together?"

"All of these groups of people, the issues they face, it all comes from the same people: white men. So we need to get rid of them," he said, going on to suggest that — sotto voce — people should "kill the rich".

Comment: In order to understand this 'intersectional' nonsense, this book looks like a must-read:

Israeli judge acquits two security officers involved in killing innocent man: It's okay to murder, as long as you think they might be someone else

HAFTOM ZARHUM
HAFTOM ZARHUM
Yesterday, an unbelievable verdict came down at the Beersheba District Court in Israel:

Two Israeli security officers were acquitted in a case involving the lynching of Haftom Zarhum, an Eritrean refugee, although they were filmed beating him and repeatedly dropping a bench on his head. The judge cited "reasonable doubt".

The bloodthirsty mob lynching in October 2015 was part of a string of "mistaken identity" incidents in Israel. A terror attack had in fact taken place earlier at the Beersheba central bus station; a man from an unrecognized Bedouin village in the Negev opened fire, killing a soldier and wounding 11 others.

Zarhum was a passerby, who was mistaken for the shooter by a security guard because he was dark skinned. A police spokesman in the wake of the incident said that it was "not clear if [Zarhum] is involved with the event or if he was shot due to his exterior appearance."

Zarhum was shot 8 times. Though he had been incapacitated, the mob continued to beat him heavily, shouting "terrorist!", "Kill him!", "break his head, son of a bitch!". The two officers were in that mob. The Times of Israel notes:
"The indictment said that in the aftermath of the attack, [combat soldier Yaakov] Shimba kicked Zarhum in the head and upper body with force. It said [Prison Services officer Ronen] Cohen threw a bench onto him, and after another man removed the bench he took it and again dropped it on the prone man."
The indictment states that although Zarhum was one of the most seriously wounded in the fracas, he was evacuated to hospital only after all other wounded were evacuated (per Haaretz).

Comment: That's Israeli logic for you. "Judge, I thought I was killing a Palestinian." "Why didn't you say so? You're free to go, valiant sir!" Barbarians.

Iranian government releases about 36,000 prisoners as part of 'fight against COVID-19'

The Iranian authorities have released about 36,000 inmates as part of a new phase of the fight against the spread of COVID-19 in the country's prisons, Iranian prison service chief Mohammad Mehdi Haj-Mohammadi said on Monday.

"Since 8 July 36,283 prisoners have been released", Haj-Mohammadi said as quoted by Tasnim news agency.

Earlier in July, Iran's judiciary spokesman Gholamhossein Esmaeili said that the authorities would continue to reduce the occupancy rate in prisons to avoid the spread of coronavirus among prisoners. According to the official, legislative norms have been enacted for downgrading punishment for certain crimes. This requires the cases of specific prisoners to be reviewed. In addition, he added that the Iranian authorities are currently trying to use other types of punishment rather than imprisonment when possible.

As of 5 May, Iran temporarily released over 114,000 prisoners who were serving their sentences. This, however, did not include prisoners that pose a danger to society.

Comment: As a way of fighting a largely overhyped 'pandemic', this doesn't seem like a smart move. But on the positive side, since these prisoners allegedly don't pose a danger society, many of them probably don't deserve to be in jail in the first place. Prisoner amnesty under the cover of Covid-19? Or just an unintentional positive result of mass hysteria?
