A serviceman from Russia's Black Sea Fleet has been arrested by the country's Federal Security Service (FSB) on suspicion of working for Ukrainian military intelligence. If found guilty of high treason, the detained soldier could face between 12 to 20 years behind bars.

In a statement published online, the FSB announced that they had arrested a man in Sevastopol, the largest city on the Crimean Peninsula, who was collecting and transferring state secrets to Ukraine's Ministry of Defense. They did not name the accused, or give his rank.

The serviceman's arrest is the latest in a recent string of high treason arrests this summer. In June, the head of the police in the Russian city of Kursk was detained after being accused of passing secret information to the Ukrainian Security Service. Kursk is just a 90-minute drive away from the border between the two countries.

On July 7, the FSB detained Ivan Safronov, a former journalist and current adviser to the head of the Russian Space Agency, on suspicion of passing secret information to the Czech Republic, a NATO member.

Comment: From covert to Covid: Complications for Safronov.
Former journalist Ivan Safronov, accused by Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) of spying for Czech intelligence, has been isolated in Moscow's Lefortovo pre-trial detention center due to suspected coronavirus.

According to Eva Merkacheva, from the Public Monitoring Commission - a human rights organization - Safronov has symptoms of Covid-19 and has been transferred to a separate cell, awaiting test results.

Speaking to the press, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov explained that Safronov would receive medical assistance if he does indeed have the virus. "If this information is true, we hope that the necessary testing will be performed, and if the diagnosis is confirmed, the necessary medical care will be provided," he said.

As a journalist, Safronov specialized in the Russian military, writing for well-known Moscow newspapers Kommersant and Vedomosti. He is currently employed as an adviser to the head of Roscosmos, Russia's space agency.

The government is set to ask for permission to appeal against a ruling that Shamima Begum should be allowed to return to the UK to challenge the deprivation of her British citizenship.

Ms Begum, now 20, was one of three east London schoolgirls who travelled to Syria to join the so-called Islamic State group (IS) in February 2015.

She lived under so-called Islamic State (IS) rule for more than three years before she was found, nine months pregnant, in a Syrian refugee camp in February last year.

Then-home secretary Sajid Javid revoked her British citizenship on national security grounds later that month.

If you can be banned from Twitter for questioning transgenderism, why are accounts advocating pedophilia still on the site?

Self-described 'Minor Attracted Persons' are getting a free pass to use social media to push their twisted, rebranded agenda of having sex with children. It's time to act, Jack Dorsey.

Twitter, as an organization, is very censorious. Everyday someone is suspended, shadow-banned, banned outright or has a particular tweet taken down for any of the multitude of sins the gods of Silicon Valley deem beyond the pale. We know these rules are not enforced evenly across the board - lefty accounts are given quite a large amount of wiggle room, whereas right wing or conservative accounts often feel they are only ever 240 characters away from Jack Dorsey's digital hit squad.

This is annoying, but not surprising. Everyone has biases and they are inclined to go easier on people or groups that share them. And given that Twitter is headquartered in one of the wokest parts of the planet, it is easy to tell why a blue-haired feminist tweeting "kill all white men" gets a free pass, whereas posting moderate skepticism about transgenderism can get you removed completely.

However, to the best of my knowledge, pedophilia is not a left-right issue. I thought at least one thing we could all support, from the Proud Boys to Antifa and the TERFs to the trans activists, was that fiddling with children is wrong. In fact, I would go further and suggest that we could all agree - to paraphrase a commonly used lefty slogan doing the rounds these days - "it is not enough to not be a pedo, we must be actively anti-pedo."

Comment: You'd think... But it's always possible that among the "wokest of the woke", this kind of thing is quite prevalent. Conservative perverts tend to be perverted in private, often behind a mask of moral propriety. Liberal perverts tend to congregate and justify their "countercultural" deviance to themselves and their peers. So while pedophilia isn't a left-right issue among the majority of people (those tending to the center), among the far left, it is probably at least a bit more prevalent, because anything goes.

IDF to begin contact tracing on Tuesday

The IDF's Home Front Command coronavirus contact tracing headquarters will begin operating as early as Tuesday, according to a report by N12.

The announcement came after much confusion on Thursday, when despite a decision by coronavirus commissioner Ronni Gamzu that epidemiological investigations would be transferred from the Health Ministry to the IDF, Health Ministry director-general Chezy Levy sent a letter to district doctors and nurses informing them that the professional leadership of these investigations would remain in the hands of the Public Health Department of his ministry.

Shortly after the letter was shared with the press, the ministry sent a clarification that there was no contradiction, and that the professional leadership in the field would be managed by the health professionals and the execution would be handled by the IDF.

"Changes in the structure and work processes in the field of epidemiological investigations may take place in the coming weeks," Levy's letter said. "I would like to clarify that the professional leadership in this field, which is central to public health, will remain in public health."

Palestinian Christians issue a cry for hope, to end 'exclusivity and apartheid'

In a decisive document released earlier this month, Palestinian Christians insist that churches around the world bring their influence to what is happening in the cradle of Christianity, urging, "We cannot serve God while remaining silent about the oppression of the Palestinians." Global Kairos for Justice, a community of human rights advocates — Palestinian Christians, their friends and supporters around the world — released "Cry for Hope: A Decisive Call for Action," asking Christian supporters to sign onto the pledge and take actions to end Israel's occupation, including boycotts against Israel.

"As followers of Jesus, our response to ideologies of exclusivity and apartheid is to uphold a vision of inclusivity and equality for all peoples of the land and to persistently struggle to bring this about," the proclamation reads.

This document follows the tradition of German pastor Dietrich Bonfhoeffer's declaration — or a status confessionis — in 1933 when he argued that the Nazis' denial of the rights of Jews presented the German church with a choice to either stand up and resist the Nazi regime or stand by and lose its claim to follow the teachings of Jesus. Throughout history, the term status confessionis has been used by the church to describe a moral crisis and the church's response, which determines its faithfulness.

Echoing the language of a status confessionis, Cry for Hope declares, "The very being of the Church, the integrity of the Christian faith, and the credibility of the Gospel is at stake."

A letter from Labour's Shadow Culture Secretary Jo Stevens to communications regulator Ofcom demands that RT's media license be reviewed, but a poll shows the party itself doesn't want censorship, but to make their own decisions.

The poll, conducted by Labour Grassroots, finds only 26 percent of Labour supporters feel the party should pursue having the media outlet's license reviewed by a third party.

No, police are not 'kidnapping' people off the street. Stop being hysterical

portland police riots

Perhaps the stupidest development to come out of the protests and riots is the Left's bizarre announcement that lawful arrests are now "kidnapping." Recent videos of law enforcement officials arresting wanted criminals and putting them in unmarked vehicles have provoked this sudden redefinition of terms. The latest such incident went viral when a "counterculture journalist" (who seems oddly to be completely in line with the culture, not counter to it at all) posted a video with the caption:

"NYC is taking after Portland — a trans femme protestor was pulled into an unmarked van at the Abolition Park protest — this was at 2nd Ave and 25th Street."

This video has been shared all over social media, with people like MSNBC anchor Chris Hayes and Rep. Jerry Nadler describing it as "kidnapping" and "terrifying," respectively. Nadler declared that police officers using unmarked vehicles during an arrest somehow amounts to a violation of the Constitution. Many on the Left have echoed this claim.

COVID-obsessed Australian supermarket owner burnt down his own business to 'keep customers safe'

The co-owner of the only supermarket in a small WA country town burnt down his business at the height of the COVID pandemic because he was "obsessed" with the virus and was being put under pressure by angry customers and out-of-town panic buyers, a Perth court has been told.

On the night of March 25 this year, Edward Guy Mason, 57, went to his store in Bruce Rock, 240 kilometres east of Perth, packed three shopping trolleys with cardboard and set them on fire, before trying to take his own life.

He then left the building and locked himself out, before walking home, where he was later arrested.

Comment: This is just one example of how the Covid panic can affect those who aren't of completely sound mind in the first place. We're sure there many more stories like this, some with undoubtedly more tragic endings.

The Nuremburg defense? Twitterati bust out Nazi comparisons over new docuseries showing troubled ICE agents 'just enforcing laws'

An upcoming documentary shows how US immigration agents deal with being viewed as the 'bad guys' for enforcing policies they don't necessarily endorse. Twitter's collective reaction to a preview of the show? "They're like Nazis!"

The docuseries 'Immigration Nation', by filmmakers Shaul Schwarz and Christina Clusiau, is the result of three years spent with the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, which gave them "unprecedented" access to its daily operations. Set to premiere on Netflix next month, the show follows individual agents and shows how they get "chewed up" in a "broken system," according to a preview published by Newsweek.

"Really, this issue is grey, it's complicated," Clusiau said, adding that the issues with the US' immigration system are "systematic in the sense that all sides, everybody, is kind of chewed up by this broken system."

The wife of rapper Andy Cartwright has been arrested after his body parts were found in their St Petersburg apartment. She reportedly cut him into pieces, washed his organs, treated his limbs with salt and then refrigerated them.

Marina Kokhal claims the 30-year-old rapper died of a drug overdose. Saying she wanted to make him disappear so he wouldn't be remembered for dying an inglorious death, she has admitted to chopping up his body.

According to Saint Petersburg-based website 'Fontanka', the police were informed after 36-year-old Kokhal contacted a lawyer for advice, explaining that Cartwright had died four days ago of a drug overdose.
