Fires & tear gas: Black Lives Matter march turns chaotic in Paris

Defying coronavirus restrictions, hundreds of protesters took to the streets of France's capital, expressing solidarity with their US counterparts and demanding justice for the country's own victims of police brutality.

The Black Lives Matter protest took place in Paris on Tuesday evening, and saw hundreds of activists marching towards the High Court to hold a rally there.

The event had not been greenlighted by the authorities due to the ban on large gatherings, which is in place to stem the spread of coronavirus. However, this did not prevent the demonstrators from turning out in force. The procession was met by police, who fired tear gas into the crowd in a bid to disperse it.

Comment: A French commentator provided pertinent information on the Adama case noted above:
You can hear the mob in Paris shouting "justice for Adama". It's a reference to Adama Traore who died after escaping the police three times.

The event happened 4 years ago. Since then, 11 expert reports about the cause of the death have been produced. Most reports rejected the police responsibility and pointed to several medical conditions (cardiomegalopathy, lung sarcoïdosis and sickle cell syndrom) coupled with exertion due to the 3 chases and presence of drugs in the blood analysis.

Coincidentally or not, the 12th expert death report was released today, a few days after the Paris demonstration in support of George Floyd gathered a limited number of participants.

This 12th expert report doesn't involve the direct analysis of Traore medical data, like most previous reports. It is rather an analysis of the 11 existing reports and it concludes that the police is responsible for Traore's death (because of tackling Traore).

What better way to throw gazoline on the fire?

It is interesting to note that the Traore march was described as peaceful by most MSM, while it was not. The police restrained itself. What a contrast with the Yellow Vest movement who was described as violent by the MSM, while it was not (the infiltrated antifas were), and who sustained 24,000 injured demonstrators because of police violence.

Leftists vow to burn bar down

A bar owner shot a protester on Saturday night after the mob came for him and his business. The incident was caught on video. You can hear the person taking the video warning the people to stay back, shouting "This n**** got a gun!... It's not worth it, n****!" as the mob encroached on a backpedaling Jake Gardner, owner of The Hive bar in Omaha, Nebraska. The mob starts to tackle Gardner to the ground, and shots start to ring out.

22-year-old James Scurlock was shot and killed.

Comment: In Richmond, VA, police were able to avert a tragedy as rioters blocked rescuers from a fire they started in a multi-family home, where children were trapped:
The chief of the Richmond, Virginia, police department told reporters Sunday that Black Lives Matter and antifa rioters set fire to a multi-family home with children inside and then blocking access for firefighters to get through to save the children.

Richmond Police Chief William Smith broke down while speaking about the horrible night of chaos after an occupied building was torched by rioters.

Richmond Police Chief William Smith: "One incident that is particularly poignant, that truly illustrates the seriousness of the issues we're facing. Last night protesters intentionally set fire to an occupied building on [West] Broad Street. This is not the only occupied building that has been set fire to in the last two days. But they prohibited us from getting on the scene. We had to force our way to make a clear path for the fire department. The protesters intercepted the fire apparatus several blocks away with vehicles and blocked that fire department's access to the structure fire. Inside that home was a child."

The chief of the Richmond, Virginia, police department broke down while describing the horrific event in his city.
Don't expect the mainstream media to carry this story.

For the record, police on the scene were able to save the children.

UK universities plan to create 'social bubbles' when campuses reopen

University students may have to live in halls of residence with others on their course and keep within physically distanced social bubbles when campuses reopen in September.

Under plans being discussed at a number of universities, students would mix only with others on certain courses and year groups to minimise the infection risk from coronavirus. On campus, students and staff would move around in a one-way system.

Liz Barnes, the vice-chancellor of Staffordshire University, said the bubbles would allow students to access campus facilities while restricting the number of people they interact with. "It applies wherever they are on a campus," she said.

University leaders are anxious to assure prospective students that they will not receive an inferior education, amid fears of a potential £760m shortfall in funding if an estimated one in five students defer over coronavirus uncertainty.

Speaking at a briefing outlining Universities UK's guidelines for exiting lockdown, its chair, Julia Buckingham, the vice-chancellor of Brunel University, said universities would not shift wholly online but planned to offer students a "blended" education, combining some online lectures with smaller face-to-face tutorials. At her university, the proportion of online learning will vary in line with government guidance on physical distancing.

Comment: As with pretty much all the Covid-19 responses, this is a whole lot of stupid. But aside from the general absurdity, it is also concerning in its Orwellian implications. Governing bodies on all levels are removing freedoms from people on the most intimate levels:

Almost 400 cities in every US state join wave of protest over George Floyd death

Hundreds of cities and towns across the US have seen people hitting the streets to join anti-police-brutality protests sparked by the death of George Floyd. Yet, as tensions ran high, many rallies turned into nightmarish riots.

America has once again been gripped by massive protests as the Black Lives Matter movement seemingly regained momentum following the death of another African American at the hands of the US police. The man was choked to death by a police officer during detention in Minneapolis last week. An independent autopsy confirmed that the man's death was a result of asphyxiation.

A total of some 400 cities in all 50 US states - as well as in the territories of Guam and North Mariana Islands - witnessed protest actions over the weekend. And even though most of the rallies were peaceful, some American cities turned into real riot hotspots as angry crowds attacked police officers, who responded by firing tear gas and rubber bullets at protesters.

Comment: More updates from around the country:

State of Minnesota files racial discrimination charges against police department over George Floyd death
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has announced the state's Department of Human Rights will be investigating Minneapolis Police Department (MPD) for signs of racial discrimination, following the death of George Floyd.

According to state officials, the investigation will go far beyond the death of Floyd - who was choked to death by a police officer during his detention in Minneapolis on May 25 - and look into the policies and practices of the police department for the past 10 years to "determine if the MPD has engaged in systemic discriminatory practices towards people of color and ensure any such practices are stopped."

Walz said the investigation is the first step in taking on "systemic racism" in his state.

"Silence is complicity. Minnesotans can expect our administration to use every tool at our disposal to deconstruct generations of systemic racism in our state," he added.
'We're not leaving!' Hundreds take to streets in DC in defiance of curfew order as protests rage on
Large crowds of demonstrators have gathered around various locations in Washington DC, disregarding a curfew now in effect in the capital, as nationwide unrest over police brutality continues across dozens of cities.

Facing off with armor-clad riot police and National Guardsmen outside of the White House on Tuesday, the protest has by all indications remained peaceful, following days of riots, looting and arson around the city.

With the 7pm curfew now in effect, however, protesters that remain on the streets risk arrest.

Chanting "We're not leaving!" and "F**k your curfew," many demonstrators have defied the 7pm deadline to continue protesting over the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis police custody last week, mirroring actions staged in countless other cities.

A particularly brazen attempt by looters to storm a store in Fairfield, California, has been caught on video, showing them commandeering what appears to be a telescopic forklift to force their way in.

A video has emerged showing vandals using heavy equipment on the doors of the Best Buy store in Fairfield, a city in Solano County, located between San Francisco and Sacramento.

Portland mayor lifts curfew for good behavior but '2nd-chance' protest swiftly descends into violence
Police have fired flash bangs and tear gas at rioters in Portland, Oregon, after a Black Lives Matter demonstration descended into violence. Clashes erupted just hours after a curfew had been lifted.

Mayor Ted Wheeler canceled a curfew early on Tuesday, citing "a significant shift in the tenor" of the protests that took place the previous day and were largely peaceful. The demonstration this time around also began without incidents. Thousands lay face down on Portland's Burnside Bridge in honor of George Floyd, an unarmed black man killed by a white police officer, Derek Chauvin, last week.

However, later in the day "multiple groups" of people became aggressive, forcing the officers to declare the downtown gathering illegal and to demand that everyone leave, the Portland Police Bureau said.

The rioters launched fireworks and threw projectiles at the officers, blocked traffic and vandalized property. Police responded by firing flash bangs and launching volleys of teargas. Multiple arrests were made throughout the night.

A KGW-TV news crew filmed a patrol car ramming through makeshift barricades and nearly hitting a protester.

Israel to demolish 200 Palestinian buildings in East Jerusalem

Israel destroys Palestinian structure
Israeli occupation authorities yesterday delivered an order to demolish 200 decades-old Palestinian-owned industrial structures located in occupied East Jerusalem, reported Wafa news agency.

As with many neighborhoods in the area surrounding Jerusalem, Wadi Al-Joz is experiencing severe challenges with the aggressive expansion of the Jewish presence in the area.

The chairman of East Jerusalem's Arab Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Kamal Obeidat, told Wafa that the order was made by recommendation of the Israeli Planning and Zoning Committee and will demolish up to 200 structures including car repair shops, restaurants and other facilities.

Obeidat called the move a "racist order" to destroy the only Palestinian industrial area that serves the city's 300,000 residents in East Jerusalem in order to build Israeli structures.

The Swedish economy expanded at a far superior rate than many of its European counterparts over the first three months of the year, data published Friday showed, following the government's decision not to impose a full lockdown to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

The Nordic country's statistics office reported gross domestic product (GDP), the broadest measure of economic health, grew at an annual rate of 0.4% in the first quarter.

Sweden's GDP increased by 0.1% in the first quarter, when seasonally adjusted and compared to the final three months of 2019. The median forecasters in a Reuters poll of economists had expected to see a 0.6% contraction on a quarterly basis.

A professor at the University of Alabama Birmingham used Twitter to tell protesters how to successfully pull down monuments, as rioters vandalized the Lincoln Memorial, the World War II Memorial and other iconic sites in the nation's capital over the weekend.

Sarah Parcak, an Egyptologist who specializes in ancient architecture, says she is an expert on obelisks, the shape of the Washington Monument. She noted obelisks "might be masquerading as a racist monument."

The District of Columbia was set ablaze, and stores were looted and destroyed, after a series of protests turned destructive following the death of George Floyd, a black man who was killed last week by a white Minneapolis police officer. The officer, who knelt on Mr. Floyd's neck for 9 minutes, has been charged with murder, but protesters are demanding more in response for the killing.

YouTube censors interview with lockdown skeptic Peter Hitchens

peter hitchens interview censored
YouTube continues to suppress any content that goes against their chosen narrative.

In case you were wondering, yes, YouTube is still enforcing its almost unprecedented censorship around what's allowed to be said regarding the coronavirus pandemic.

But this censorship seems to be elastic in how and to whom it is applied. While many videos got summarily removed, even those giving voice to respectable scientists and doctors, others, like an interview with British journalist Peter Hitchens, have "merely" been hidden.

A study conducted at a hospital in Milan found that the number of viruses present in people who tested positive has decreased.

COVID-19 is losing its potency and no longer clinically exists in Italy, a senior Italian doctor has claimed.

Dr Alberto Zangrillo, the head of Milan's San Raffaele Hospital in the hard-hit Lombardy region, said the new coronavirus has become much less lethal, with newly infected patients having weaker symptoms than a couple of months ago.
