The attorney for the man who shot armed protester Garrett Foster in Austin on the night of July 25 has been identified as an active-duty sergeant in the United States Army, reports the Austin American-Statesman. He is identified as Army Sgt. Daniel Perry. The AAS reports Perry was driving for a ride-hailing company on the night of the unpermitted protest. Foster was carrying an AK-47 rifle on the night of the protest.

PJ Media was the first to report that the shooter is a military member and that he was driving in the course of earning extra money in the area of the unpermitted protest that night. We were also first to report the probability that the shooting may have happened in self-defense in accordance with Texas castle doctrine law.

Federal court overturns death sentence for Boston Marathon bomber

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev
A federal appeals court on Friday overturned the death sentence for Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.

The U.S. 1st Circuit Court of Appeals in Boston ordered a lower court to hold a new trial on the issue of what penalty Tsarnaev should receive. It said the trial court did not hold proper juror inquiries about the impact of pretrial publicity.

The appeals court upheld much of his conviction for the 2013 attack, which killed three people and wounded more than 260 others.

Tsarnaev and his older brother, Tamerlan, radical Islamist Jihadists, detonated two homemade bombs near the finish line of the historic race, causing that the court said was "battlefield-like carnage." They also killed local campus police officer Sean Collier later.

Tamerlan was killed during a shootout with police several days after the bombing.

The First Circuit Court said the trial judge had to ascertain not just the degree but the "kind" of exposure that prospective jurors had to publicity about the case.

"But as to 9 of the 12 seated jurors, the judge fell short on this front," the court said.

Seattle City Council move to abolish police department with new bill

Seattle lawmakers want to abolish the city's police force and replace it with a "community-led" safety prevention program, according to proposed legislation released Friday.

Arguing that the Seattle Police Department "perpetuates racism and violence" and upholds "white supremacy culture," the Seattle City Council moved to redirect cash to a non-profit, civilian-led "Department of Community Safety & Violence Prevention" โ€” and offered a "blueprint" on how to defund the police, according to the resolution.

Comment: That this kind of ideological drivel is coming from the City Council and not some fringe group of lowlife radicals should be concerning.

Under the bill, cops would be replaced by "community-led activities" and organizations focused on "housing, food security, and other basic needs" along with "culturally-relevant expertise rooted in community connections," according to documents posted by Christopher Rufo, Director of Discovery Institute's Center on Wealth & Poverty.

To gain police department funding, groups must show they are "well-versed in de-escalation skills" along with "trauma-informed, gender-affirming, anti-racist praxis" and are "committed to hiring staff from the communities they serve," according to the proposal.

Race quotas will make the New York Times a truly second-rate paper

As bad as the New York Times can be right now, that will be nothing compared to how truly miserable it can become if it institutes the asinine race quotas and other demands that the paper's worker union is demanding.

In a series of tweets on Friday, the News Guild of New York, representing the New York Times editorial staff, laid out several race-based items for the paper's leadership to start working on.

Among them were for the company's workforce demographics to reflect that of New York City (race quotas); for each stage of the hiring process for a new position to have at least 50% of the candidates be minorities (race quotas); and for the establishment of "mentorship programs" that create a track for minorities to move from junior positions to more senior ones (race quotas).

Comment: Why stop at race? If demographics should be representative, a certain proportion of candidates should be homeless, left-handed, overweight, underweight, tall, short. The possibilities are endless. To limit oneself to race is simply a lack of imagination and ambition.

Oh, and the union demands that all articles be given "sensitivity reads," the purpose of which would be to censor and edit content that offends or has the potential to offend minorities.

There would be nothing wrong with hiring more black journalists, but it's hard enough to find one good journalist, let alone 18 who meet additional exclusionary criteria. Black people only account for about 12% of graduates with a journalism degree each year. Just as with every other race, only a very few will go on to get a job at a newspaper, and even fewer will get a job at a major metropolitan newspaper.

Mystery seeds being received across the US from China - What is the purpose of it?

seeds
"Mysterious Seeds" are being unexpectedly delivered by mail US/UK. Media has rushed to blame China for bioterrorism, warning DON'T PLANT! But why would China put themselves on every return label? There is more to this story, and it is part of an agenda to take total control of food -- including seeds -- and prevent you from saving/selling any "unauthorized seeds." Christian shares some high octane (but well-founded) speculation around this developing story as the #FoodWars continue.

Sources

Comment: Apparently residents in states all across the US have received packages of seeds, as officials from states including Louisiana, Virginia, Kansas, Ohio, Washington, Kentucky, and Wyoming have sent out alerts advising people to not plant the seeds. Seed packages have also appeared in parts of Utah, Arizona, and the UK. Photos of the packages showed they were delivered through China Post, a Chinese shipping company, and often consist of Chinese writing and labels describing the contents as necklaces or rings.

Policeman arrives at man's home, demands he delete Netanyahu photo from Facebook

Cop tells private citizen his use of undoctored photo, in which the PM appears to make a Nazi salute, is a criminal offense, and warns him he could be summoned for questioning

A policeman on Thursday arrived at the home of a private citizen who had uploaded a photo of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Facebook and demanded that he remove it, the Haaretz newspaper reported Friday, in what appeared to be a striking case of police overreach.

Sagi Haber, a resident of Givatayim, uploaded the photo, from some 30 years ago, in which Netanyahu makes a hand gesture which can appear similar to the Nazi salute, tagging it with the words "A brand for idiots." The photo itself was not doctored in any way, and Haber made no allusions to Nazism in his post.

A commentator told Haber he had complained to police about the post. One hour after Haber uploaded the photo, a police officer arrived at Haber's door and told him he'd committed a criminal offense by inciting against the prime minister, and was required to remove the post.

The Iraqi government on Thursday said that 560 people were killed in the mass popular protests across the country against the former government led by Adel Abdul-Mahdi, Anadolu Agency reports.

Hisham Dawood, the advisor to the Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi, in a news conference, said:
"The tally of martyrs since the outbreak of the protests in October has reached almost 560 including civilians and military personnel...The demonstrations were accompanied by unjustified violence against the demonstrators."
Dawood said that the Iraqi government has formed a fact-finding committee to reveal the perpetrators and those involved in violence against the demonstrators. He also added that the government is "seeking to put an end to the kidnapping cases and the enforced disappearances"..."stressing that the government's goal is 'a prestigious state of law'."

The advisor, however, did not refer to the number of injured people during the demonstrations.

Charles Barkley says 'don't kneel' and Twitter erupts, proving black people aren't allowed to think independently

Basketball legend Charles Barkley provoked the wrath of the mob by saying that players shouldn't feel they have to kneel at games. It appears that if you don't fall in line with collective thought, you lose your 'black card'.

Charles Barkley has long been an outspoken figure in American sports. Since he's retired from playing basketball, he's worked as a commentator and isn't shy about telling people how he feels about things. He's no stranger to controversy, in a sense. However, recently he committed one of the cardinal sins of the Church of Woke by saying it wasn't necessary to kneel in protest at a basketball game.

And immediately, woke Twitter took Barkley to task. One user said Barkley was "speaking for his white golf buddies." Another simply told him to shut the eff up. It seems that Charles Barkley is not allowed to have an opinion when it comes to the sport that he loves. He was even accused of supporting police brutality (when he did nothing of the sort).

'Peaceful' Portland protesters burn Bible & flag, 24 hours after torching pig's head in cop hat

Demonstrators in Portland set Bibles and US flags on fire amid protests that have spanned nearly 2 months. The day before, protesters torched a pig's head with police clothing, though they still claim their movement is peaceful.

Footage published by RT's Ruptly video agency shows a group of protesters on Friday night gathered around a burning Bible, with several individuals mockingly warming their hands around the fire. Laughter and shouts of "F**k Trump" can be heard in the background.

US flags were also burned by the protesters, who were seen crowding around the fire and taking photographs.
