US avocado import ban from Mexico sparks fears of nationwide shortage

The US suspension of avocado imports from Mexico is already sparking fears of shortages at grocery stores and restaurants, with industry insiders warning the market may be just days away from running out of its supply.

A lengthy halt in shipments from Michoacán, the only state in Mexico cleared to export the fruit to the US, would leave US businesses without many options to obtain enough avocados to meet massive demand - and result in higher prices for the few avocados available at stores.

Mexico accounts for 83% of the US's annual supply of Hass avocados, according to the Hass Avocado Board. Keith Slattery, the top executive at Stonehill Produce, a major importer of Mexico-grown Hass avocados, said the US market only has about a week's worth of avocado inventory in the pipeline.

Comment: We're left to presume that it might be related to Mexico's cartels, but with the USDA being strangely cagey, we're actually none the wiser. It's all the more strange considering the dire state of the supply chain and the soaring cost of food; one would think the USDA would try to find a work around rather than exacerbating the issue: Also check out SOTT radio's: NewsReal: Is The Government Hyping Shortages? Forbes columnist says he was 'canceled' over Anthony Fauci coverage

A longtime Forbes contributor claims he lost his job after he was pressured to stop his investigative reporting on Dr. Anthony Fauci, which revealed his looming $350,000 retirement package.

Adam Andrzejewski, CEO and founder of OpenTheBooks.com, said that he was let go by the magazine he was "admonished" for his coverage of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director.

"Forbes couldn't resist the pressure from the National Institutes of Health," he told The Post in an email on Tuesday. "Forbes editors — in email and on the phone — admonished that I wrote too many columns on Fauci."

Andrzejewski first told Fox News Monday he was "canceled" by the magazine after eight years and more than 200 columns — four of which last year were about the White House chief medical advisor.

"Clearly, Forbes' editors did not want our oversight of Dr. Anthony Fauci's finances on the website," Andrzejewski told Tucker Carlson.

Chris Cuomo fired after CNN learned of alleged sex attack during office 'lunch': report

Chris Cuomo allegedly attacked a female ABC News temp worker when she denied his proposition for sex during a "lunch" in his office, it was revealed on Tuesday.

The accusation was made to CNN lawyers in December hours after Cuomo was suspended for advising his brother, then-Gov. Andrew Cuomo, how to dodge his own sexual harassment accusations, according to the New York Times. The CNN host was fired days later.

The unnamed accuser had come forward after Chris Cuomo was suspended from the network on Nov. 30 for helping Gov. Cuomo try to beat back the multiple allegations that ultimately ended his political career, the report said.

Comment: The Cuomos are a family of scumbags.

Best of the Web: NYT backs the truckers now? 'Allowing nonviolent protest important in polarized society,' reminds Trudeau he supported farmers blocking highways in India

The New York Times Editorial Board has taken a stance in support of Canadian truckers' right to protest, saying that peaceful demonstrations are a vital part of democracy.

The Freedom Convoy protests against COVID-19 vaccine mandates, which have brought Ottawa to a standstill for more than two weeks, have sharply divided opinion in the US.

Conservatives have tended to cheer on the demonstrators, while many liberal pundits have issued calls for a swift and harsh crackdown on the protests by any means necessary.

Comment: Credit where credit is due. There's not much to praise the NYT for these days, but at least on this issue, they seem to have come out in the right. It seems the NYT couldn't survive the cognitive dissonance required to condemn the truckers while praising liberal-progressive protests. Either that or their polling showed they were largely in disagreement with their audience on the issue.

Firearms may be planted in Ottawa to discredit protest, convoy organizers warn

A convoy of truckers started off from Vancouver on Jan. 23, 2022, on its way to protest against the mandate in the capital city of Ottawa.
Organizers of the Freedom Convoy in the Canadian capital say they have notified police after being told that "nefarious elements" are planning to plant weapons at the Ottawa COVID-19 mandate demonstrations as a "pretext to forcibly remove peaceful protestors."

In a video posted on social media on Feb. 14, Daniel Bulford, a former RCMP officer who is helping the protest organizers with security, said they have received information from sources they consider to be "reliable" that the weapons may be planted.

The information, Bulford said, correlates with the more than 2,000 firearms that were stolen in Peterborough, Ont., on the morning of Feb. 13.

Peterborough Police Service officers had said they are investigating the incident regarding the stolen firearms, which were taken from a trucking yard in the city in the early hours of the morning.

The truck and trailer were carrying more than 2,000 firearms with magazines. Officials said no ammunition was taken.

The parents have spoken: Woke San Francisco school board members ousted in landslide recall vote

"Progressive" school COVID policies no longer welcome in the capital of progressivism.

If you thought Democratic politicians were moving unusually fast this month to dismantle the same COVID-19 restrictions they spent two years erecting, just wait until they fully absorb the reality of yesterday's historic landslide recall of three supervisors from the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD), largely over the issue of extended pandemic school closures.

Board of Education President Gabriela López, Vice President Faauuga Moliga, and controversial former vice president Alison Collins were sent packing by margins of more than 44 percentage points each in the same Democratic stronghold that once launched the political careers of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Sen. Dianne Feinstein, Gov. Gavin Newsom, and Vice President Kamala Harris.

Comment:

And the ousted board members are sticking hard to their rhetoric, instead of maybe doing some long hard introspection:

Celebrities Can Go Maskless At The Super Bowl But Your Kids Still Have To Wear One At School

Celebrities. At Super Bowl LVI
Every year the Super Bowl gathers all of the world's most well-known celebrities. At Super Bowl LVI, we saw the likes of Kanye West, Justin Bieber, and Ellen DeGeneres gather to watch the Rams vs. Bengals. Of course, they were all unmasked.

Here we are, two full years into the coronavirus pandemic, and there are still counties in the U.S. that require children to wear masks to school full-time. States like California, Colorado, and Massachusetts have implemented policies that demand students keep their faces covered for eight hours a day — but all the major celebrities can waltz around mask-free at the Super Bowl on February 13.

Comment: The elites prove to us yet again that this virus is not a real danger to any healthy person and that all these fascistic and sadistic measures are not about our protection from any virus. They are for gaining more control over every aspect of our lives, our economy, our minds and bodies. They assume that we are their possession and we must comply with everything they want and what they say, like slaves. If we don't realize this and stand up to protect our children, our lives and our human rights, it will only become worse.

It is also another lesson for humanity. Will we learn the lesson and stand together against evil, or will humanity fail again?

Activism uncensored: The Freedom Convoy

In the [below] video, TK Partners News2Share do a fantastic job of doing what the conventional press mostly hasn't done with the "Freedom Convoy" story, asking the right questions about who's participating, what their concerns are, and how the event is being received on the ground.

As Ford Fischer demonstrates in his narration, the protesters are a mix of people who see themselves as politically liberal, and politically conservative. There are some whose objections seem to be purely about mandates. "I'm double-vaccinated," says one speaker. "To think... I will show my papers to buy a sandwich? Hell, no!"

Comment: The corporate press is a dying entity. It's now up to the 'fringe minority' in the field of journalism to take up the mantle in the pursuit of truth rather than presenting propaganda with an agenda. Anyone in the know knows where to get their news from.

Prince Andrew settles sex abuse lawsuit by Jeffrey Epstein victim Virginia Giuffre

Prince Andrew
Britain's Prince Andrew has agreed to settle out of court a lawsuit accusing him of sexually assaulting an underage girl while she was under the control of the sex criminals Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, a legal filing revealed Tuesday.

The amount of money that Andrew has agreed to pay his accuser, Virginia Giuffre, to settle her claims was not disclosed in the filing in Manhattan federal court, where she had sued the Duke of York in August.

But that document also said that Andrew, 61, will make "a substantial donation to Ms. Giuffre's charity in support of victims' rights."

A statement jointly issued by lawyers for Giuffre and Andrew's attorneys says that he "regrets his association with Epstein, and commends the bravery of Ms. Giuffre and other survivors in standing up for themselves and others."

"He pledges to demonstrate his regret for his association with Epstein by supporting the fight against the evils of sex trafficking, and by supporting its victims," that statement says.

Ex-Navy nuclear engineer pleads guilty to selling submarine secrets

submarine
A former Navy nuclear engineer pleaded guilty Monday to conspiring to sell closely guarded American secrets about submarine technology to another country.

Jonathan Toebbe, 43, was accused of trying to pass information about designs for nuclear-powered submarines to an undercover FBI agent posing as a representative of a foreign government. Toebbe, who prosecutors say hid memory cards containing the sensitive information inside peanut butter sandwiches and other items, was arrested in October.

At a hearing in West Virginia, Toebbe pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to communicate restricted data.

The agreement calls for a possible sentence of 12 ½ to 17 ½ years in prison. The Maryland man was facing up to life in prison if convicted of the three counts in the indictment.
