A 69-year-old gunman opened fire at a Kurdish cultural centre and a hairdressing salon in Paris on Friday, killing three people and injuring three others, witnesses and prosecutors said.

The shots shortly before midday (1100 GMT) caused panic in rue d'Enghien in the trendy 10th district of the capital, a bustling area of shops and restaurants that is home to a large Kurdish population.

Witnesses told AFP that the gunman, described by police as white, a French national and previously charged with racist violence, initially targeted the Kurdish cultural centre before entering a hairdressing salon where he was arrested.

Of the three wounded people, one is in intensive care and two are being treated for serious injuries, officials said.

The Atlantic goes full "tinfoil hat" with hilarious new theory that "hippie culture" is a gateway to "white power"

hippie fascist
In a remarkably predictable turn of events, the paranoid conspiracy theorists at The Atlantic have just re-labeled liberal "hippie culture" as right-wing extremism and declare it's the new gateway into the KKK.

That's right, if you eat healthy, own a lot of land, and use cloth diapers, the folks at The Atlantic want you to know you're one compost-heap away from becoming the Grand Poobah of your local white nationalist chapter.

It's called being "Crunchy," and according to scarymommy.com the movement is actually more about liberal privilege than white power:
Socioeconomic is the main kind of privilege that allows a person to be "crunchy." For many, when they think of what it means to live a crunchy lifestyle — eating only organic food, growing their own food, composting, cloth diapering, breastfeeding, biking etc.
However, Atlantic writer Kathleen Belew won't let pesky facts stand in her way. She says the "Crunchy" movement has been hijacked by garden-loving, fruit-canning skinheads.

In her recent laugh-out-loud article, titled "The Crunchy-to-Alt-Right Pipeline", Kathleen twists herself into a crunchy pretzel trying to connect the dots between this natural lifestyle and right-wing "Neo-Nazis."

If government officials want to prevent rebellion they should stop committing treason

big brother
I have been working within the liberty movement for almost 17 years now. In that time I've been involved in numerous organizations that all generally fought the same battle, or the same war - The war against encroaching centralization and authoritarianism. Each group and each institution has had different ideas about how to go about solving the problem of incremental tyranny.

Some of them focused on politics, others on preparedness, and still others on convincing police and military to stand on the side of freedom. Some of them had focused goals, some of them were scattered. Some had decent leadership, while the leadership in others was lacking (or self sabotaging). None of them, however, had malicious intent. None of them sought power over others, only to prevent power from being abused.

In some cases the effort became confrontational because that was the only option, as with Bundy Ranch. Liberty activists vowed never to allow another Waco or another Ruby Ridge in which federal agents violate the due process of targeted citizens, or outright murder them. And we should continue to hold to that promise. As we have seen time and time again, agencies like the FBI, ATF, CIA, etc are corrupt beyond all reckoning and there comes a point where the only solution to deal with a bully is to punch him in the teeth.

The Jan 6th event is also something that has been highly misrepresented on both sides - Leftists argue that it was an "insurrection" worse than anything seen since the Civil War in the name of installing Trump as a dictator. Many conservatives argue that it was a "honey pot" or "false flag" which was completely controlled by feds and informants. Neither claim is accurate.

'Baltimore City becomes graveyard' amid dangerous murder wave

baltimore street crime
It has been two years since Baltimore welcomed Mayor Brandon Scott with an ambitious new crime-fighting plan. So far, progress has been horrible.

"I will reduce homicides by 15% each year of my term and get us below 300 homicides my first year," vowed the new Mayor.

As of Thursday, homicides in the Democrat-controlled city have hit 322, not too far from record highs after a murderous summer.

A North Carolina professor has claimed that he was fired from a prestigious high school for criticizing critical race theory in a Friday lawsuit, according to a report from Fox 17 WZTV.

In the suit, filed by legal the Alliance Defending Freedom, a legal advocacy group, Dr. David Phillips alleges that the Governor's School of North Carolina (NCGS), a publicly funded summer program, fired him without explanation after he criticized the school's embrace of "racially divisive ideology."

Philips claims that NCGS adopted a social approach that views members of society "through the lens of characteristics like race, sex, and religion" and labels them as "perpetual oppressors or victims" based on group membership.

"As for the economy, despite the collapse, disarray and catastrophe predicted for us in the economic sphere, nothing of the kind has happened. Moreover, Russia demonstrates much better results than many countries of the G20, and demonstrates it consistently,"

Mohammedia Gas Storage Facility Goes Up in Flames

A huge fire has broken out in a gas storage facility in the Moroccan city of Mohammedia on Thursday, reports and videos show.

Emergency services have been dispatched to the scene, though the fire shows no signs of abating as of the time of this writing.

Several energy companies such as Afriquia, Total, and Shell reportedly use the facility.

The facility's proximity to other storage sites and other institutions where flammable materials may be contained in large volumes is stoking worries that emergency services may not be able to contain the fire properly.

Witnesses reported hearing explosions as far away as 10 kilometers from the explosions' site.

Some reporters and witnesses on the site have also reported that families and citizens living near the facility have evacuated the surroundings.

Some have said regular firefighters and emergency vehicles might not be able to effectively contain the fire, and called on national emergency authorities to authorize the use of more advanced containment methods such as firefighting planes.

Canadian nuclear plant offline during record cold weather after 'unexplained' power loss and heavy water leak

Lepreau nuclear generating station
© NB PowerThe Point Lepreau nuclear generating station remains offline a week after a pair of incidents at the plant. A partial loss of power followed by the discovery of a heavy water leak hours later remain under investigation.
A leak of heavy water at the Point Lepreau nuclear generating station last week required three plant employees to enter the reactor building to fix the problem manually, according to new information about the incident released by N.B. Power.

In response to a series of questions about the heavy water spill, N.B. Power's Dominique Couture said in a statement "three authorized and qualified staff" were outfitted to enter the reactor containment building where an unknown amount of heavy water was escaping from a tube about half the width of a household garden hose.

"The leak was stopped manually by crimping the tubing, which took a little over 30 minutes," according to Couture.

Selling a war: Report exposes how German media stirs up militancy in society and works to prevent negotiations with Russia

Last week, the University of Mainz published a study of German news coverage of events in Ukraine, and Berlin's official response to the crisis. The conclusions confirm that since February 24, the media has played a major role in keeping the conflict going, and making a negotiated settlement less likely, due to almost universally biased, pro-war, anti-Russia content being published at all stages.

Researchers at the university analyzed German-language reporting on the Ukraine conflict between February 24 and May 31, assessing the content of around 4,300 separate articles published by the country's eight leading newspapers and TV stations: FAZ, Suddeutsche Zeitung, Bild, Spiegel, Zeit, ARD Tagesschau, ZDF Today, and RTL Aktuell.

During this time, Ukraine was portrayed positively in 64% of all coverage, and President Vladimir Zelensky in 67%. By contrast, Russia was portrayed "almost exclusively negatively" 88% of the time, and President Vladimir Putin in 96% of cases. Almost all reports - 93% in total - attributed sole blame for the war to Putin and/or Russia.

The West was named as "jointly responsible" in only 4% of instances, Ukraine even less so at 2%.

US life expectancy tumbles to 25-year low

The US posted sharp increases in mortality rates for a second straight year in 2021, driven largely by the Covid-19 pandemic, leaving Americans with their shortest projected life spans in a generation.

The average US life expectancy plummeted to 76.4 years in 2021 from 77 years in 2020, according to data released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Thursday. The average has dropped by 2.4 years since 2019, sliding to the lowest level since Bill Clinton was running for his second term as president, 'Macarena' was the top pop song, and the likes of Google, Facebook, and Twitter hadn't even come into existence.

Fatality rates increased for eight of the ten leading causes of death last year, the CDC said. The leading cause, heart disease, rose by 3.3% to an age-adjusted rate of 173.8 per 100,000 people. Covid-19 remained the number three cause, with its death rate surging 22% to 104.1 per 100,000 people. Ironically, President Joe Biden blamed his predecessor, Donald Trump, for the nation's high Covid-19 death toll in 2020, only to see US fatalities from the virus rise even further on his watch.
