Three substations sabotaged in Washington, Oregon and North Carolina

substation burglaries
Two power substations in Tacoma, Washington were initially reported sabotaged Sunday morning, leaving around 7,300 customers without electricity on Christmas Day. Later a third substation was reported to have been attacked bringing the total number of customers without power to around 14,000. The attacks have been reported as burglaries because the substations were broken into, although no items have been reported stolen.

The Christmas Day attacks come weeks after six power substations were reported attacked in Washington and Oregon, as well as in North Carolina (excerpt via The Seattle Times, Dec. 8):
At least six attacks at electricity substations in Washington and Oregon, including two at Puget Sound Energy substations, have been reported to the FBI in recent weeks.

Spokespeople for Puget Sound Energy, the Cowlitz County Public Utility District, Portland General Electric and Bonneville Power Administration confirmed the attacks happened in November, according to emails sent in response to Seattle Times inquiries.

...News of the attacks follows a shooting investigators say damaged substations in North Carolina on Saturday, leaving thousands without power. Energy experts have stressed the need to secure the power grid, warning that the nation's vulnerable electricity infrastructure could be a target for domestic terrorists.
Tacoma Public Utilities reported the Sunday morning attack via Twitter, "Early this morning, two Tacoma Power substation facilities were attacked in east Pierce county. Currently, 7,300 customers are without power as a result. Law enforcement has been notified. We are working as quickly and safely as possible to restore power"

Comment: The attacks first began in November in Moore County NC, leaving over 40k without power.

school lecture raising trans kids children
A California school district has partnered with a local parent group to host a lecture for parents of so-called transgender children.

The event is organized by the Davis Parent University (DPU), a grassroots group of volunteer representatives for Davis Joint Unified School District, and St. James School, and features Rachel Pepper, author of the book "The Transgender Child: A Handbook for Parents and Professionals," the Daily Caller reports.

According to the group's website, Pepper will be giving parents advice on how to love and accept their "gender diverse children and teens," and how to "understand and process the range of parental/caregiver emotions surrounding gender creativity."

"The event will include a 45-minute lecture by Rachel followed by a 30-minute Q & A session and then a book signing," the event's website states, which also contains a warning to those planning to attend that all "audience members are expected to behave respectfully throughout this event. Any disruptive or disrespectful behavior will not be tolerated."

Twitter CEO Elon Musk announced Wednesday that the social media company's new official policy will not penalize users for legitimately questioning scientific claims and narratives that are promoted in the media.

The statement from Musk comes as he has taken multiple shots at leftists this week for buying into mainstream media narratives.

"New Twitter policy is to follow the science, which necessarily includes reasoned questioning of the science," Musk said.

Head of Mozart Group says Ukrainians are "violating the law of armed conflict"

Ukraine soldiers
© Unknown
In March of this year, retired U.S. colonel Andrew Milburn founded the Mozart Group, a private military company that trains Ukrainian soldiers and distributes humanitarian aid to civilians. The name is a reference to the Wagner Group, a Russian private military company that also operates in Ukraine.

Milburn, therefore, can scarcely be accused of having 'pro-Russian' sympathies. In a CBS documentary earlier this year, he was asked, "Are you concerned about weapons getting into the wrong hands?" And his response was:
"I don't care at all whether that happens ... my biggest concern right now is that the guys who need to kill Russians with those weapons get those weapons."
Which makes his recent comments on a podcast rather surprising.

Common sense: International boxing organization starting transgender league over 'safety' concerns

boxing organization trans categories
© NurPhoto via Getty ImagesSulaiman said his organization was “creating a set of rules and structures so that transgender boxing can take place, as they fully deserve to if they want to box.”
The World Boxing Council (WBC) is starting separate categories dedicated to transgender fighters to ensure competitors' "safety," officials announced Thursday.

WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman told The Telegraph in an interview published Thursday that the new divisions next year are to ensure that "the dangers of a man fighting a woman will never happen."

"We will not allow — ever — a transgender born a man to fight a woman, who was born a woman," he stated firmly.

Instead, transgender fighters will be organized by an "at birth" rule, meaning a trans female fighter born a man can only box against a fellow trans fighter born a man, and the same for those born a woman.

"It is the time to do this, and we are doing this because of safety and inclusion," said Sulaiman, the lifelong president of what is one of the sport's four major organizations.

A cold snap blanketing the Deep South has upended water systems as local officials struggle to repair widespread leaks and broken pipes, forcing some people to take drastic measures to get by without reliable access to running water.

Breakdowns in infrastructure arose in rapid succession after days of freezing temperatures in areas where extended periods of frigid weather are abnormal.

The water woes are acute in places like Jackson, Mississippi, where the water system partially collapsed in late August and has had repeated weather-related breakdowns. Jackson Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba said the city is dealing with a "worst case scenario" on Tuesday.

An TIME article argued exercise has roots in White supremacy

Fitness influencers and Twitter users blasted a TIME interview for portraying exercise as an activity with roots in White supremacy.

"How did U.S. exercise trends go from reinforcing white supremacy to celebrating Richard Simmons?" the TIME article, titled "The White Supremacist Origins of Exercise, and 6 Other Surprising Facts about the History of U.S. Physical Fitness," asked.

The article was heavily mocked on Twitter, with critics saying it was destroying the media's credibility.

"Honestly, I want them to keep pumping articles like this out to eviscerate every remaining shred of their credibility and perceived legitimacy," British rapper Zuby tweeted. "It doesn't anger me at all. It's so goofy I consider it satire."

Ed Latimore, a former heavyweight boxer, tweeted, "First math was a tool of white supremacy. Now it's exercise. Pretty soon, food is gonna be a tool to continue systemic racism oppression."

Elon Musk slams Fauci for infamous 'I am science' statement as Twitter vows to promote 'reasoned' questioning of data

elon musk
Musk is again ruffling feathers on Twitter by declaring that the platform will 'follow the science,' which will include a robust questioning of theories and data - a dig at those who blindly followed CDC and other government advice during the pandemic.
Twitter CEO Elon Musk has announced that his social platform will promote the 'reasoned' questioning of scientific data - while also making a dig at Dr Fauci.

On Wednesday, Musk, who can been especially vocal on the platform since assuming control in late October, wrote: 'New Twitter policy is to follow the science, which necessarily includes reasoned questioning of the science.'

Gad Saad, a heavily-followed Evolutionary Behavior Scientist, replied to Musk's tweet in jest by posting a video of Dr. Fauci and writing: 'The science is anything that His Eminence Lord Fauci says it is.'

Comment: Anyone who immediately jumps to 'conspiracy theory' as soon as the suggestion is put forth to allow experts to be questioned in a public forum is disingenuous and their position should be challenged. Science does not rely on suppression of dissenting views; it thrives on them. Likewise, conspiracies put forward need to be questioned as well. Only authoritarians are opposed to free debate.

Blue crime wave: Philadelphia surpasses 500 murders once again, woke DA Larry Krasner asks to stop impeachment proceedings

Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner
Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner
State Republicans have started impeachment proceedings against Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner partially due to the rise in violent crime under his watch.

Philadelphia has again failed to stop murders in the city, as it repeats a homicide toll that surpasses 500 deaths. While murders are down compared to a year ago, the level of violence dwarfs recent years, when as few as 277 murders happened in 2016.

As of December 28, 514 people have been victims of homicide in Philadelphia. That number is down 7% from 2021, when a record 562 people died, but higher than the 499 deaths in 2020 and 356 in 2019.

Comment: More from The Post Millennial:
On Thursday, Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner asked a four-judge Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court panel to stop impeachment proceedings launched against him on November 16 after a vote from the state's House of Representatives.

According to the Associated Press, one of the four judges, Ellen Ceisler, a Democrat, said, "It seems to me that these impeachment proceedings are based on disagreement with public policy and an elected official's discretion. I think that this proceeding could set terrible precedent in the future."

The judicial quartet's makeup is half Republican and half Democrat, with Ceisler counting as one of the latter.

The impeachment stated that Krasner engaged in "misbehavior in office in nature of violation of victims rights," and "misbehavior in office in the nature of violence of the constitution of Pennsylvania by usurpation of the legislative function."

Thursday, Krasner argued that there was no merit behind such claims and also said that the GOP-controlled state general assembly does not have the constitutional power to remove him from office.

Krasner, a Democrat who was re-elected in 2021, is known for progressive policies such as no cash bail and not prosecuting non-violent gun and drug possession crimes. Shootings are up 54 percent in Philadelphia since 2020 and homicides have climbed by 50 percent since Krasner took office. In the wake of the increase in crime, Krasner has called for more gun control. There were a total of seven articles of impeachment alleging Krasner's misconduct, which included his bail policies and lack of prosecuting.

One of the Republican judges on the panel, Judge Patricia McCullough, said, "The problem is you're asking the court to intervene and that is going to set another huge precedent for the people of this commonwealth if the court can usurp its separation of powers principle and stick its hand into a process that the Supreme Court says belongs to the General Assembly. And that's really the issue."

A trial is set for January 18 in the Pennsylvania Senate. The judges did not say when they would announce a ruling.
