Ukraine aid support softens in the US: AP-NORC Poll

(Is he reading a prompter?)
Support among the American public for providing Ukraine weaponry and direct economic assistance has softened as the Russian invasion nears a grim one-year milestone, according to a new poll from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research.

Forty-eight percent say they favor the U.S. providing weapons to Ukraine, with 29% opposed and 22% saying they're neither in favor nor opposed. In May 2022, less than three months into the war, 60% of U.S. adults said they were in favor of sending Ukraine weapons.

Americans are about evenly divided on sending government funds directly to Ukraine, with 37% in favor and 38% opposed, with 23% saying neither. The signs of diminished support for Ukraine come as President Joe Biden is set to travel to Poland next week to mark the first anniversary of the biggest conflict in Europe since World War II.

Comment: The US has begun a shift to the right, a dwindling of support for Ukraine, and an about-face for Biden's colossal waste of taxpayer money.

US official backtracks after Nazi collaborator tweet storm

A prominent American foreign policy official was forced into a climbdown on Wednesday after he tweeted in appreciation of a notorious 1940s Nazi collaborator.

Paul Massaro posted a a photo of a patch bearing an image of Stepan Bandera, the leader of a Ukrainian nationalist group which butchered Poles and Jews, in collusion with Adolf Hitler's forces.

Following a storm of protest, he later deleted the tweet. Massaro works for is the US Helsinki Commission, officially known as the Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe.

"Hey, look what I've got," the grinning Massaro tweeted around 9:30 in the morning, showing off his green pseudo-military jacket with a patch that read "Bandera is our father, Ukraine is our mother." It bore the embroidered visage of Bandera and the logo of his OUN-B organization.

Less than two hours and 270,000 views later, however, the tweet was gone. "Deleted at the request of a good Polish friend. God bless Polish-Ukrainian friendship and may it remain strong forever," Massaro explained.

Comment: This stunt is just one more example of Western moral disintegration.

'Dystopian' homeless encampments have overrun one of America's biggest airports

Chicago's O'Hare International Airport has turned into a sprawling, "dystopian" encampment for the Windy City's rising homeless population — sparking serious safety concerns among staff and passengers, who say they've been followed and harassed.

Shocking photos show filthy makeshift shelters set up inside the major travel hub's terminals. One photo even shows a vagrant collapsed and asleep inside a terminal vestibule.

"It's out of control. None of us feel safe," Vonkisha Chatman, a custodian who works the overnight shift in Terminal 1 and 2, told CBS News.

Chatman said she and her co-workers have been harassed by the unwelcome guests, who leave litter behind and trash the bathrooms.

Texas AG sues Biden admin, claims $1.7T budget was a 'stunning violation of the Constitution'

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton filed a lawsuit against President Joe Biden and his administration for allegedly breaking the Constitution in order to swiftly pass a trillion dollar spending package.

The lawsuit, filed Wednesday, claims that Biden unlawfully signed the Democrats' $1.7 trillion omnibus package into law in December because it was not legally passed in the House.

Only 201 members were present when the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023 was voted on by the House of Representatives in December 2022, and with half the members absent, the required quorum was not met, Paxton's lawsuit argues.

Just 48% of respondents in a new AP poll agree with continuing to send weaponry to Kiev.

Nearly one year on from the launch of Russia's military offensive against Ukraine, many Americans oppose their government's policy of providing massive military and economic assistance to Kiev, a new poll revealed on Wednesday.

Less than half of US adults still agree with sending weapons to Ukraine, while only around one in four believes Washington should continue to play a "major role" in the conflict, the Associated Press-NORC poll showed. The survey, conducted in late January, found that 48% of Americans support continued military aid to Ukraine, down from 60% back in May, while 29% are opposed and 22% are unsure.

On 'forced vacation,' James O'Keefe posts photo with Robert F Kennedy Jr, Project Veritas releases new statement

rfk jr james o'keefe
Following a statement released by Project Veritas Executive Director Daniel Strack on Wednesday afternoon, Project Veritas retweeted a photo from Robert F Kennedy Jr showing himself with Project Veritas founder James O'Keefe in Santa Monica.

"Of course [James O'Keefe] is alive and well. Why wouldn't he be?" Project Veritas wrote. "We're sure many of you can agree, there is nothing better than enjoying a well deserved vacation."

Comment: It could be that O'Keefe really was given forced time off due to the stress getting to him. Or it could be that this was an attempted hostile takeover of Project Veritas that went sideways. The statement from the PV donor about an incident being completely misrepresented (see video above) suggests the latter. But until more information is forthcoming, we remain in the dark.

Fingerprints of unvaccinated NYC teachers reportedly sent to FBI with 'problem codes': 'Invasion of privacy'

unvaxxed teachers FBI fox news
Fingerprints of unvaccinated NYC teachers have a 'flag on their file,' according to attorney John Bursch.

The fingerprints of unvaccinated New York City teachers were reportedly sent to the FBI with "problem code" flags, prompting outrage from former educators who lost their jobs over the mandate.

Earlier this month, John Bursch, who is representing teachers who are suing the city over the mandate, said teachers who refused the shot now have a "flag in their file," which will impact their ability to get another job.

"When the city puts these problem codes on employees who have been terminated because of their unconstitutional policies, not only do they have this flag in their files, but their fingerprints are sent with that flag to the FBI and the New York Criminal Justice Services, so it impacts their ongoing ability to get employment at other places," Bursch said Feb. 8.

Science needs to stop using terms like male, female, mother and father, researchers say

male/female questionnaire

Alternatives to terms like "male" and "female" and "mother" and "father" should be sought in science because they assume that sex is binary and heterosexuality is the norm, a group of researchers from the US and Canada suggests.

Male and female should instead be referred to as "sperm-producing" and "egg-producing," the Ecology and Evolutionary Biology (EEB) Language Project said, according to the Times of London.

Meanwhile, father and mother should be labeled "parent," "egg donor" and "sperm donor" in the scientific field.

Repossessions by landlords hit 5,409 between 1 October and 31 December last year, which was almost double the number in the same period in 2021, according to new Ministry of Justice figures for England and Wales.

The department said the number of mortgage and landlord repossessions increased steadily last year, and that compared with the same quarter in 2021, the October to December 2022 volumes "show a marked increase". It added that "we cannot yet say whether these increases will continue at the same pace through 2023", and that in general, the numbers had not reached pre-pandemic levels.

There has also been a "significant" increase in landlords taking action against tenants in the county courts of England and Wales, said the MoJ.
