Very reassuring: India's drug regulator declares Covid jabs '110% safe' in overzealous attempt to dispel impotency rumors

India is fighting to dispel rumors that two newly-approved coronavirus vaccines can cause erectile dysfunction, but the country's drug regulator may have overdone it by insisting that the jabs are more than 100-percent safe.

On Sunday, India officially gave the green light to Covishield, a drug developed by the Pune-based Serum Institute based on the AstraZeneca/Oxford vaccine, as well as Covaxin, created by Indian pharmaceutical Bharat Biotech. The AstraZeneca jab received emergency approval despite Covishield showing at least 62-percent efficacy, a value considerably lower than competing drugs. There have also been concerns raised about Covaxin. Indian MP Shashi Tharoor claimed that the jab has not been properly tested and suggested its approval was premature.

To make matters worse, the head of India's Samajwadi (Socialist) Party, Ashutosh Sinha, told local media that he was concerned that the vaccines "might contain something which can cause harm." He put forward the theory that the jab could be used to "kill/decrease the population" or cause "impotency."

Naturally, such utterances from lawmakers did not help to instill trust in the vaccines, and so Dr. Venugopal G. Somani, the Drug Controller General of India, did his best to reassure the public.

Comment: Unpopular fact: doctors can and do lie to you if they think it's in your best interest. If they think you should wear a mask, they will lie to the public if that means more people will wear masks. Same goes for vaccines. The problem is, why should anyone trust a liar? Even if they profess to have our best interests in mind? What if they're wrong, as they often are? And what if they don't have your best interests in mind, but are simply doing it out of social and political pressure (unpopular fact: doctors are humans too)? Simple solution: don't listen to these lying idiots.

Too late? Portland mayor finally denounces Antifa terrorists following explosive NYE clash with police

portland ted wheeler mayor antifa
Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler
Mayor of Portland, Oregon, Ted Wheeler said in an address Friday that "it's time to push back harder" against Antifa, following a violent clash with police in the city streets on New Year's Eve.

"My good faith efforts at de-escalation have been met with ongoing violence and even scorn from radical antifa and anarchists," Wheeler said to the press.

"It's time to push back harder against those who are set on destroying our community," he continued.

Comment: Wheeler could have nipped this in the bud a year ago. Maybe even before that. But he was too concerned with virtue-signalling and looking 'woke'. It did no good, of course:

Packages mailed by Nashville bomber reveal 'belief in aliens and lizard people'

A man who knew Nashville bomber Anthony Warner received mail from Warner on New Years day, News Channel 5 Nashville reports.

A man who knew Nashville bomber Anthony Warner received mail from Warner on New Years day containing a letter of bizarre ramblings.

A packaged mailed to an acquaintance of Warner was postmarked Dec. 23. Warner mailed similar packages to other individuals as well, according to sources who spoke to News Channel 5 Nashville.

The package containing nine written pages and two Samsung thumb drives was turned over to the FBI.

Comment: The New York Post reported:
Authorities believe the 63-year-old loner also spent time hunting for alien life forms in a nearby state park, the outlet reported.

It's unclear if any of these beliefs or behaviors are connected in any way to the Christmas morning suicide blast.

Investigators are also reportedly probing whether Warner, a local IT expert, was motivated to target an AT&T building over fears of 5G cellular technology and his paranoid suspicions that it is killing people and being used to spy on Americans.

Warner also reportedly may have believed that the suicidal attack would lead him to be revered as a "hero."
Further from Nashville5 News:
Warner did write extensively about "perception," adding that "Everything is an illusion" and "there is no such thing as death."

While NewsChannel 5 believes summarizing Warner's letters will provide a better understanding into his state of mind, WTVF has made the decision not to publish them in their entirety. We are attempting to balance shedding light on his mindset prior to the bombing with not giving him unnecessary notoriety.

We reached out to the FBI about these letters. Special Agent Jason Pack sent Newschannel 5 this statement:
We're aware the suspect sent materials which espoused his viewpoints to several acquaintances throughout the country. We're asking those who received these to contact the FBI at 800-CALL-FBI.

Piers Corbyn, brother of former Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn, has been arrested for breaching lockdown rules every day in 2021 so far. In his latest brush with the law, Corbyn was cuffed at a rally in London's Hyde Park.

With London under draconian Tier-4 lockdown restrictions, a group of several hundred protesters assembled in Hyde Park on Saturday. Holding signs reading "freedom over fear," they protested the government's ongoing crackdown on civil liberties in the name of curtailing the coronavirus.

Police arrested 17 of these protesters for breaching, with 73-year-old Piers Corbyn among them. As officers led Corbyn away in handcuffs, the crowd chanted "free Piers Corbyn."

Teacher of the year. That's sweet, right?

He has since deleted the tweet BUT as Twitchy readers know, the Internet is FOREVER, especially tweets.

BBC backtracks and admits children's wards are NOT seeing a surge in severe coronavirus admissions

nurse hands
© GettyA paper published in January raised the possibility that the pandemic could make some people more susceptible to chronic conditions and diseases, including asthma and obesity.
Doctors have sought to reassure parents that there has been no increase in the severity of Covid-19 cases among children because of the new variant.

The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) said children's wards are not seeing any "significant pressure" from Covid-19.

It comes after a London hospital matron told BBC Radio 5 Live of having a ward full of children with coronavirus.

Comment: That's quite telling about the state of mind of hospital staff, they've been hystericized to see a pandemic that isn't there.

Comment: With the experimental vaccines being rolled out en masse, with the relentless fearmongering and misinformation people are deluged with on a daily bases, as well as the mandatory wearing of masks that restricts oxygen and is creating an extremely unhygienic environment for people, it's quite possible that we will, or even are, seeing a rise in some hospital admissions that, otherwise, wouldn't have occurred.

Best of the Web: NHS had 15% LESS patients this December compared to 2019 - Any crisis is due to budget cuts, staff shortages and excessive measures

NHS ward
© Peter Byrne/PAPA MediaHOSPITALS had almost fifteen percent fewer patients this December compared with 2019
A freedom of information request to NHS England revealed that on December 22, three days after Boris Johnson introduced tier four for millions, more than 13,000 fewer beds were occupied than the same date in 2019.

The new data suggests a key reason hospitals are struggling is this lack of capacity.

The NHS is meant to keep a tenth of its beds free to create flexibility to admit patients and cope with sudden surges in demand - usually seen in winter.

Over the years this spare capacity has been used each winter and the NHS has been forced to treat patients in trolleys and in ambulances as ward beds have filled.

Comment: There you have it, the NHS isn't overwhelmed because of the coronavirus, it's suffering from decades of budget cuts, staff shortages, and the final straw was the excessive 'coronavirus measures' that removed any potential extra capacity that it had. Note that even with less admissions to hospitals the system still couldn't cope.

While the UK's population has increased by 14% over the last 20 years, there's been a massive 33% decrease in hospital beds. And, as is clear from The Guardian headlines below, this issue, that has been ongoing for well over a decade, was well known:

London Mayor Sadiq Khan surprised locked-down residents with an unannounced New Year's Eve fireworks display, only to spark anger by filling the show with political messaging.

"Our New Year's Eve show just sent a loud, proud message to the world: London stands together against racism - tonight and always," Khan said in a Twitter message with a video clip showing an image of a raised fist above the Millennium Dome. The symbol has historically been a universal gesture of working class solidarity, but most recently has been appropriated by the Black Lives Matter movement.
