Great Barrington Declaration authors strike back at Collins and Fauci

A few weeks ago, emails obtained via FOI request revealed how America's most senior government scientists sought to discredit the Great Barrington Declaration. In particular, the email below was sent by Francis Collins (former director of the National Institutes of Health) to Anthony Fauci:

Amazingly, Collins refers to the authors of the Declaration as "three fringe epidemiologists", despite the fact that they held positions at Harvard, Stanford and Oxford respectively. (If even Harvard professors are considered "fringe", there isn't much hope for the rest of us...)

Comment: From the Epoch Times article:
Collins and Fauci played critical roles in designing and advocating for the pandemic lockdown strategy adopted by the United States and many other countries. In emails written four days after the Great Barrington Declaration and disclosed recently after a FOIA request, it was revealed that the two conspired to undermine the declaration. Rather than engaging in scientific discourse, they authorized "a quick and devastating published takedown" of this proposal, which they characterized as by "three fringe epidemiologists" from Harvard, Oxford, and Stanford.

Across the pond, they were joined by their close colleague, Dr. Jeremy Farrar, the head of the Wellcome Trust, one of the world's largest nongovernmental funders of medical research. He worked with Dominic Cummings, the political strategist of UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson. Together, they orchestrated "an aggressive press campaign against those behind the Great Barrington Declaration and others opposed to blanket COVID-19 restrictions."

Ignoring the call for focused protection of the vulnerable, Collins and Fauci purposely mischaracterized the GBD as a "let-it-rip" "herd immunity strategy," even though focused protection is the very opposite of a let-it-rip strategy. It's more appropriate to call the lockdown strategy that has been followed a "let-it-rip" strategy. Without focused protection, every age group will eventually be exposed in equal proportion, albeit at a prolonged "let-it-drip" pace compared to a do-nothing strategy.

When journalists started asking us why we wanted to "let the virus rip," we were puzzled. Those words aren't in the GBD, and they are contrary to the central idea of focused protection. It's unclear whether Collins and Fauci ever read the GBD, whether they deliberately mischaracterized it, or whether their understanding of epidemiology and public health is more limited than we had thought. In any case, it was a lie.

We were also puzzled by the mischaracterization of the GBD as a "herd immunity strategy." Herd immunity is a scientifically proven phenomenon, as fundamental in infectious disease epidemiology as gravity is in physics. Every COVID strategy leads to herd immunity, and the pandemic ends when a sufficient number of people have immunity through either COVID-recovery or a vaccine. It makes as much sense to claim that an epidemiologist is advocating for a "herd immunity strategy" as it does to claim that a pilot is advocating a "gravity strategy" when landing an airplane. The issue is how to land the plane safely, and whatever strategy the pilot uses, gravity ensures that the plane will eventually return to earth.

The fundamental goal of the GBD is to get through this terrible pandemic with the least harm to the public's health. Health, of course, is broader than just COVID. Any reasonable evaluation of lockdowns should consider their collateral damage to patients with cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and other infectious diseases, as well as mental health and much else. Based on long-standing principles of public health, the GBD and focused protection of the high-risk population is a middle ground between devastating lockdowns and a do-nothing, let-it rip strategy.

RealClear Investigations updates its Jan. 6-BLM Riots Comparison

The one-year anniversary of the Jan. 6 Capitol riot arrives this week with Americans still sharply divided over the afternoon-long episode's significance and severity as Democrats, hemorrhaging support and facing the loss of Congress in this year's midterms, sternly present a media spectacle of public events to emphasize what they see as the threat posed to democracy by Donald Trump and his party, as represented by that day.

There is no comparable scrutiny of the nationwide summer 2020 riots over George Floyd's murder, protests endorsed by many on the left amid a virulent pandemic -- although polling has shown that a large majority of Americans support examining the circumstances of both events.

Judge orders charges dropped against Jeffrey Epstein's prison guards

A Manhattan judge has ordered charges dropped against the two prison guards who admitted to falsifying records after Jeffrey Epstein committed suicide in jail more than two years ago.

The guards, Tova Noel and Michael Thomas, copped prosecution deals in May that required them to admit their guilt, with the understanding that the charges against them would be dismissed if they followed the rules of their agreement for six months.

The pair also had to carry out 100 hours of community service as part of the deal.

Comment: OR, maybe the guards were a bit of an incentive to look the other way while Epstein "committed suicide"...

US judge blocks disciplinary procedures against 35 Navy SEALs for refusing Covid-19 vaccine, 'violates constitutional rights'

A federal judge has ordered the Navy and Defense Department to halt disciplinary procedures against 35 members of the service's special operations community for refusing to take the COVID-19 vaccine -- a move that could complicate the Pentagon's immunization mandate.

U.S. District Court Judge Reed O'Connor, with the Northern District of Texas in Fort Worth, ruled Monday that the DoD has violated the sailors' constitutional right to refuse the vaccine based on their religious beliefs.

According to the order from Reed, "there is no military exclusion from our Constitution."

Comment: Even if the above mortality rate was accurate, 0.03%, is not the definition of a 'deadly pandemic'. It also further highlights just how strange it is that the military is hellbent on pushing these experimental jabs, and more so when taking into account that, particularly for those in good health, the risks of severe side effects from the injections are many times higher than from contracting Covid naturally: And check out SOTT radio's: NewsReal: New Year, Same 'New Normal': Mass Formation Psychosis & Crowd Psychology

60% of teens hospitalized with Covid-19 have 'severe' obesity, CDC says

A new study from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) found that a majority of teenagers hospitalized with COVID-19 have one thing in common: severe obesity.

Among a sample of 915 patients aged 12-17 years old from six U.S.hospitals, 61.4% were obese, the CDC found. Sixty and five tenths percent had "severe obesity," defined as having a body mass index (BMI) above 40. Having a BMI above 30 qualifies as obese.

In the general population, about 9% of adults have severe obesity, according to the CDC. Sixty percent of teenagers being afflicted with the condition as COVID-19 hospital patients is highly disproportionate.

Comment: The same sick minded "authorities" advising many generations to consume heavy processed food full with sugar and hazardous chemicals, to avoid animal fat and use the toxic vegetable oils, are now doing their best to "save us" from the "deadly" virus.

As a result of their policies, we have a billion people with compromised immune systems, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and cancers.

Can we trust them this time?

Speaking freely: Why I resigned from the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation

CBC logo sign
© Artur Widak/NurPhoto via Getty Images
For months now, I've been getting complaints about the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, where I've worked as a TV and radio producer, and occasional on-air columnist, for much of the past decade.

People want to know why, for example, non-binary Filipinos concerned about a lack of LGBT terms in Tagalog is an editorial priority for the CBC, when local issues of broad concern go unreported. Or why our pop culture radio show's coverage of the Dave Chappelle Netflix special failed to include any of the legions of fans, or comics, that did not find it offensive. Or why, exactly, taxpayers should be funding articles that scold Canadians for using words such as "brainstorm" and "lame."

Everyone asks the same thing: What is going on at the CBC?

Other drugs seized include 319,447 pounds of marijuana, 190,861 pounds of methamphetamine, 97,638 pounds of cocaine, and 10,848 pounds of ketamine.

2,158 pounds of fentanyl has been seized in fiscal year 2022 to date, compared to 277 pounds of heroin.

Report says Ghislaine Maxwell's husband dumped her for yoga teacher in jailhouse call

© David McGlynnGhislaine Maxwellโ€™s husband, Scott Borgerson, left her for a yoga instructor, according to a Daily Mail report.
Ghislaine Maxwell's husband told her he'd dumped her for a yoga teacher during a "confrontational" phone call while she was in solitary confinement, according to a report.

The Post first revealed last month how Scott Borgerson, 46, had been spotted kissing mom of two Kris McGinn during regular outings near his $3.9 million New England estate โ€” while notably skipping every day of his wife's trial that led to her conviction on sex-trafficking charges last week.

A close friend of Maxwell told the Mail on Sunday that tech entrepreneur Borgerson dumped the notorious madam during a phone call to her in the Metropolitan Detention Center, the Brooklyn lockup where she's being housed under solitary confinement.

"There was a dramatic phone call between them, while she was in jail in solitary confinement. It became confrontational," the source told the UK paper, without giving an exact timeline.

Best of the Web: What is "mass formation psychosis?"

As of 1:46 p.m. EST on Saturday, a relatively new term of art, "Mass Formation Psychosis," trended in second place on Twitter, a position it continued to hold for more than 90 minutes as of this writing.
twitter trend mass formation psychosis
The phrase came to prominence in some circles in recent months after Belgian psychologist and statistician Dr. Mattias Desmet proffered a theory for what he sees as a global behavioral phenomenon stemming from the coronavirus pandemic declared in March 2020.

In Desmet's words:
Four things need to exist or need to be in place if you want a large scale mass phenomenon to emerge. The first thing is that there needs to be a lot of socially isolated people, people who experience a lack of social bonds. The second one is that there needs to be a lot of people who experience a lack of sense-making in life. And the third and the fourth conditions are that there needs to be a lot of free-floating anxiety and a lot of free-floating psychological discontent. So: meaning, anxiety, and discontent that is not connected to a specific representation. So it needs to be in the mind without the people being able to connect it to something. If you have these four things โ€” lack of social bonds, lack of sense-making, free-floating anxiety, and free-floating psychological discontent โ€” then society is highly at risk for the emergence of mass phenomenon.

Comment: This phenomenon of manipulated social hysteria, has been described previously by Andrew Lobaczewski, in his landmark book, Political Ponerology.See also:

Covid variant with '46 mutations' detected in 12 people in southern France, no evidence it's a variant of concern

laboratory
Scientists have rung the alarm bells over "the emergence of a new variant" in southern France.

It comes after 12 patients tested positive in the same region, but their tests showed "an atypical combination".

The index case had returned from travelling to Cameroon, suggesting to experts that it may have originated in the African country.

Comment: Why are scientists sounding the alarm? There are no reports of anyone suffering or any signs of danger. If Omicron was even milder than the original flu-like Covid-19, then it's likely this will be just as mild.

Comment: Coronavirus variants are considered to be a cause for concern partly because scientists have been hystericised by the same propaganda campaigns that have induced mass psychosis in the public, and partly because their funding relies on them believing that they are a 'concern': Also check out SOTT radio's: NewsReal: New Year, Same 'New Normal': Mass Formation Psychosis & Crowd Psychology
