The presumptive GOP nominee appears to denigrate his opponent following their controversial debate.

US presidential hopeful Donald Trump has declared that he trounced his "old, broken down" rival Joe Biden during their election debate last week, in a video released on Wednesday by The Daily Beast.

In the footage Trump is sitting in a golf cart hurling insults at that 81-year-old incumbent president. He also claimed that Biden would withdraw his candidacy.

"How did I do with the debate the other night? I kicked that old, broken down pile of crap. He's quitting the race," Trump says, referring to Biden.
Trump then went on to deliver a dig at US Vice President Kamala Harris, who is seen as a possible replacement candidate amid mounting calls for Biden to step aside.

Comment: Grudges allowed, his comments were trashy.

The Slovak prime minister said he regrets not being able to join his Hungarian counterpart's Ukraine peace mission

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has made his first public appearance since surviving an assassination attempt, which he blamed on radical elements opposing policies that prioritize Bratislava's interests over those of major Western powers.

During a public address at Devin Castle near Bratislava on Friday, Fico praised his Hungarian counterpart Viktor Orban's latest peace initiatives. Orban's surprise visit to Moscow on Friday to meet President Vladimir Putin and discuss ways to resolve the Ukraine conflict caused outrage among other EU leaders. This visit followed a similarly unannounced trip to Kiev earlier in the week.

"I want to express my admiration for the Hungarian premier for traveling to Kiev and Moscow without hesitating," Fico told the crowd during his 15-minute speech, which drew a standing ovation.

"There are never enough peace talks and initiatives," Fico added. "If my state of health allowed me to go, I would have loved to join him."

Comment: Fico has a point when saying, "the right to a different opinion has ceased to exist in the EU." but is it possible that "the conflict in Ukraine that the EU and NATO have elevated, literally sanctifying the concept of a single correct opinion - namely that the war in Ukraine must continue at any cost to weaken the Russian Federation," was a trend that began earlier, but the conflict in Ukraine has more clearly shown the European Union to act as an instrument for a military alliance, and useful for the implementation of US foreign policy goals.

US postpones military exercise with Georgia, citing 'false' accusations of coup efforts and attempt to open '2nd front against Russia'

department of defense
The US announced on Friday that it "indefinitely" postponed a military exercise in the Caucasus nation of Georgia set to start later this month as relations between the two remain tense over a controversial "foreign influence" bill.

"The United States has initiated a comprehensive review of the United States-Georgia bilateral relationship. As part of that review, the United States will indefinitely postpone this iteration of exercise NOBLE PARTNER in Georgia, originally scheduled for July 25 - August 6, 2024," the Pentagon said in a statement.

The statement said the decision was taken due to Georgia's "false accusations" that the US and other Western entities are trying to "pressure Georgia to open a second front against Russia to alleviate pressure on Ukraine, and of participating in two coup attempts against the ruling party."

Comment: Three attempts at inciting a revolution in just 3 weeks, according to Georgia's PM.

One would suppose that the US isn't giving up so easily and instead will be using the resources it had allocated for some other operation in/against Georgia.

Best of the Web: Who turned off the gaslight?

"Things were bad, and they knew things were bad, and they knew others must also know things were bad, and yet they would need to pretend, outwardly, that things were fine. The president was fine. The election would be fine." — Olivia Nuzzi, NY Magazine
There's a reason that the fable of The Emperor's New Clothes is so potent: it describes a mentally ill society that retreats into abject unreality, to avoid contending with truth. Alas, this archetypal human quandary shoves such a society towards nemesis: downfall and punishment. And that is exactly the consequence of our news media's craven, dishonorable, degenerate behavior the past decade.

They have disordered our nation's consensus about reality with peremptory lying about everything, in service to a political party that lies to its citizens about everything. The big question is: who or what recruited them into serving the Party of Chaos, and why did they go along?

Editorial from Hungary's Orbán: The point of NATO is peace, not endless war

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban (R) and NATO Secretary General Jens Soltenberg
© Janos Kummer/Getty ImagesBUDAPEST, HUNGARY - JUNE 12: Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban (R) and NATO Secretary General Jens Soltenberg (L) attend a joint press conference on June 12, 2024 in Budapest, Hungary. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg is visiting Hungary to attend a conference with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban amid reports that the Bucharest Group of Nine (B9) may exclude Hungary from their discussions. The B9, founded in 2015 by former Soviet bloc countries now in NATO and the EU, has expressed increasing concern over Hungary's consistent vetoes on supporting Ukraine.
NATO is approaching a watershed moment. It is worth remembering that the most successful military alliance in world history started as a peace project, and its future success depends on its ability to maintain peace. But today, instead of peace, the agenda is the pursuit of war; instead of defense it is offense. All this runs counter to NATO's founding values. Hungary's historical experience is that such transformations never lead in a good direction. The task today should be to preserve the alliance as a peace project.

On those occasions when we need to make statements about NATO, we Hungarians are in a special position. Our accession to NATO was the first time in several centuries that Hungary had voluntarily joined a military alliance. The significance of our membership only becomes clear in light of Hungary's history.

Comment: It may be that, as with other alliances, that NATO was set up by some in the hope of creating the conditions for peace, but that others were always intent on subverting it to achieve their own nefarious ends. Lest we forget that up until relatively recently Putin acknowledges that Russia was open to being a member, but he was, basically, rejected at every turn.

Vatican excommunicates Archbishop Vigano for schism after he exposed church sexual abuse, fraud, condemned lockdowns

Carlo Maria Vigano
© ReutersCarlo Maria Vigano remained unrepentant after the Vatican's decision.
Carlo Maria Vigano has built a following of his own since delving into coronavirus conspiracy theories and criticising the Catholic Church's efforts to modernise.

An ultra-conservative archbishop has been excommunicated by the Vatican after being found guilty of schism.

Schism is one of the gravest crimes in canon law and occurs when someone withdraws submission to the Pope or his Catholic subjects.

Carlo Maria Vigano served as the Vatican's ambassador to the US from 2011 to 2016 but went into hiding in 2018.

This came after he alleged Pope Francis knew about US cardinal Theodore McCarrick's sexual misconduct and did nothing about it.

Comment: Despite Pope Francis denouncing a number of issues plaguing Western society, as well as the Catholic church itself, given that Viganò seems to have a rather upstanding track record of attempting to expose and fight corruption, this move doesn't reflect well on the Catholic church; even if by refusing to submit to Pope Francis, Viganò may have left them with few options.

Philippines Says US Will Pull Out Controversial Mid-Range Missile System

US missile system
On Thursday, the Philippines said the US was pulling out a new missile system it deployed to the Southeast Asian country for annual military exercises.

The US sent the Typhon missile system for the Balikatan exercises, which were held in April and May. The Typhon is a controversial launcher since it would have been banned by the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty, a treaty between the US and Russia that the Trump administration withdrew from in 2019.

The INF prohibited land-based missile systems with a range between 310 and 3,400 miles. The Typhon can launch nuclear-capable Tomahawk missiles, which have a range of about 1,000 miles. It can also fire SM-6 missiles, which can hit targets up to 290 miles away.

Philippine Col. Louie Dema-ala told AFP that the US planned to withdraw the Typhon from the Philippines following the military exercises. "As per plan... it will be shipped out of the country in September or even earlier," he said. "The US Army is currently shipping out their equipment that we used during Balikatan and Salaknib (exercises)."

Comment: The US has made many promises over the years, but not kept many of them. So will the promise to withdraw the missiles from the Philippines happen?

Comment: The Philippines are being used by the US to antagonise China and to stoke more conflict in the region.

Orban's surprise visit to Moscow sparks fury in Brussels: Key takeaways from Hungarian PM's 'peace mission'

The Hungarian prime minister unexpectedly traveled to Russia, just days after he visited Ukraine in the same unannounced manner

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban unexpectedly visited Russia on Friday and met with President Vladimir Putin to discuss ways to resolve the Ukraine conflict. The surprise trip caused major outrage among Orban's fellow EU leaders, as it came only days after the Hungarian premier made a similar unannounced trip to Ukraine.

Comment:
1)
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has said that Orban's visit to Russia had nothing to do with the EU, and that the bloc's position on the conflict remains unchanged.
Only Scholz was cool headed enough to accept the explanation that Orban gave, that his trip had nothing to do with the EU, but used the opportunity to state what is also true, at least for now, that nothing will change.

2) From the same source, there were details about the response from Kiev.

Kiev outraged over Orban's visit to Moscow
[...]
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has complained on its official website that Orban's decision to travel to Moscow was "made by the Hungarian side without approval or coordination with Ukraine." It stressed that Kiev is against any negotiations regarding the conflict without its direct participation.

"We remind that the principle of 'no agreements on Ukraine without Ukraine' remains inviolable for our country and call on all states to strictly adhere to it," the ministry's statement read. Zelensky's 'peace formula' is "the only realistic way to restore a just peace," it added.
[...]
The comment from Kiev reminds of this article: Zelensky 'yelling at generals' - The Economist. But really, why would Orban need approval from Kiev? There are no negotiations, only consultations, and the presentations, once again, for all to hear of two very distant points of view.

Will Orban be welcome in Ukraine again? Perhaps it does not matter. His initiative is a gesture of good will on behalf of those people in Europe, and the world who do not need or wish for war, death, or the destruction of property and livelihoods. Orban is aware that many people in the EU are not heard or represented by the bureaucracy, see Brussels ignoring will of voters - Orban and Hungary's Orban says EU president Von der Leyen must go which compares with Italy's Meloni slams 'surreal' backroom deals for EU jobs

3) It is possible that Hungary had diplomatic encouragement to visit Kiev and Moscow
From this article Italy's PM Meloni slams 'very stupid' EU leaders, compares Ukraine to failed-state Libya, in hoax call with Russian pranksters we know that:
the Italian prime minister spoke of the fatigue being felt among the international community towards the unceasing situation in Ukraine, but said the issue was "finding a solution that is acceptable to both parties without violating international law."

"I have some ideas on how to handle this situation, but I'm waiting for the right time to try to present these ideas," she added.

Meloni admitted the ongoing counteroffensive by Kyiv was "perhaps not going as expected," had not "changed the fate of the conflict," and was leading to further issues for Europe "including immigration, inflation, and an increase in energy prices."

She compared the situation in Ukraine to the drawn-out conflict in Libya, telling the pranksters: "We could discuss for hours, my friend, what happened (in Libya). Maybe someone understands that the situation there is not better now."
Hungary has previously shown interest in the Chinese peace plan: EU nation backs Chinese peace plan (Feb 2023) The President, Xi Jinping visited Hungary in early May: 4) After the latest visit to Moscow and Kiev, it is likely the Victor Orban will face some rebukes, questioning, and social distancing at prominent meetings, but then Hungary did also not participate in a meeting hosted by the US in 2021 during the COVID era when many meetings were held online.
China says US uses 'pseudo-democracy as a weapon of mass destruction' against other countries
Along with Russia and Hungary, China was not invited to be a part of the two-day virtual summit hosted by the US. China responded angrily to this and alleged Biden-led US of still following Cold War-era ideologies.
'pseudo-democracy as a weapon of mass destruction' - Victor Orban understands this concept and tries to reduce the fallout effect for the Hungarian people, see Hungary 'won't ride NATO war train' - Orban

Exposing new UK Prime Minister Starmer's role in persecuting Julian Assange

assange starmer
Julian Assange and Keir Starmer
As head of the UK Crown Prosecution Service, the newly elected British PM Keir Starmer played a key role in setting in motion the infernal legal machinery that crushed Assange for 14 years

Even though Julian Assange was finally freed last month, after a 14-year-long ordeal, many myths still endure about the whole affair. One of these is that the case concerning Assange's alleged rape of two girls in Sweden, in 2010, never went to trial because Assange evaded justice. In reality, Assange, who was then in the UK, made himself available for questioning via several means, by telephone or video conference, or in person in the Australian embassy. But the Swedish authorities insisted on questioning him in Sweden. Assange's legal team countered that extradition of a suspect simply to question him — not to send him to trial, as he had not been charged — was a disproportionate measure.

This was more than a technicality: Assange feared that if he were extradited to Sweden, the latter's authorities would extradite him to the US, where he had good reason to believe that he wouldn't be given a fair trial. Sweden, after all, always refused to provide Assange a guarantee of non-extradition to the US — the reason why, when in 2012 the British Supreme Court ruled that he should be extradited to Sweden, Assange sought political asylum in the Ecuadorian embassy. From there, however, he continued to make known his availability to be interrogated by the Swedish authorities inside the embassy, but they never replied.

Israel accelerates West Bank settlement expansion with largest land theft in decades

Israel has approved the largest seizure of land in the occupied West Bank in over three decades, a settlement tracking group said Wednesday, a move that is likely to worsen already soaring tensions linked to the war in Gaza.

Israel's aggressive expansion in the West Bank reflects the settler community's strong influence in the government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the most religious and nationalist in the country's history. Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, a settler himself, has turbocharged the policy of expansion, seizing new authorities over settlement development and saying he aims to solidify Israel's hold on the territory and prevent the creation of a Palestinian state.

Authorities recently approved the appropriation of 12.7 square kilometers (nearly 5 square miles) of land in the Jordan Valley, according to a copy of the order obtained by The Associated Press. Data from Peace Now, the tracking group, indicate it was the largest single appropriation approved since the 1993 Oslo accords at the start of the peace process.

Comment: Associated Press illustrates the scale of Israel's pillage of Palestinian land. And this doesn't even include all the territory stolen to provide travel corridors between the illegal squatters' enclaves:
