Geoffrey Pyatt: The american destabilisation specialist is in Greece to cut any ties between Athens and Moscow

Three years have passed since US Ambassador to Greece Geoffrey Pyatt arrived in Athens as head of the American diplomatic mission. His interest in Greece is enormous. The experienced career diplomat is seen, literally, everywhere, and takes part in almost all areas of public life. But what is behind this show?
geoffrey pyatt
United States Ambassador to Greece, Geoffrey Pyatt.
"The activities of Geoffrey Pyatt undoubtedly go beyond his diplomatic duties. His activity includes regular meetings that he holds with representatives of the Church and the media, entrepreneurs, and government officials throughout Greece. He continues to 'provide recommendations' in Alexandroupolis to officials who 'mistakenly' began developing relations with Russia, and to cities where the authorities were open to dialogue (with the Russian Federation - ed. note Sputnik)", the former Greek Deputy Defence Minister Kostas Isihos said.

Before his appointment to Athens, Geoffrey Pyatt served as the US ambassador to Ukraine. It was under him that a coup d'etat took place in Ukraine and, analysts believe, it was he who was the main instigator of Euromaidan.

"He officially took office as the US ambassador to Ukraine in 2013 and took an active part in anti-government activities", a member of the International Logic of History School, professor at the Technical University of Crete Dimitrios Patelis recalled.

The 2014 coup d'état led to the removal from power of then-Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and the coming to power of the pro-American Petro Poroshenko. As the US Ambassador to Ukraine, Geoffrey Pyatt became known for leaking the recording of his telephone conversation in January 2014 with then US Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland.

A successful coup against Trump will be the end of American democracy

schiff and trump
President Trump calls it a witch hunt, but it really is a coup against American democracy. The Democrats who want Trump impeached don't realize this. They just want Trump impeached because they don't like him. The impeach Trump people don't understand that if the coup against the elected president succeeds, every future president will know that if he attempts to "drain the swamp" or bring any changes not acceptable to the ruling elite, he, too, will be destroyed. Voters who want real change will also get the message and give up trying to elect a president or members of the House and Senate who will be responsive to voters. It will mean the end of democracy and accountable government. Unhindered rule by the Deep State and associated elites will take democracy's place.

It is unfortunate that progressives do not understand this. Progressives want real change and Trump impeached, but these desires are at variance with one another.

Impeachment bully Schiff nixes Republican witness list as based on 'sham claims'

US Rep Devin Nunes, Ranking Republican on the House Intel Committee, provided a list of individuals that the Republicans would like to interview in the sham Democrat impeachment hearings.

The list includes Adam Schiff, who plotted with the whistleblower before he filed his complaint. The list also includes DNC operative Alexandra Chalupa who worked with the whistleblower Eric Ciaramella in 2016, the whistleblower Eric Ciaramella, Hunter Biden, Nellie Ohr and Ambassador Kurt Volker.

One requested witness is the corrupt son of the corrupt former Vice President Biden, Hunter Biden. The Democrats have denied this request, calling it a 'sham'.

Gabbard campaign pushes back hard against Clinton's defamation over 'fabricated' Russian asset claim, demands retraction

Gabbard Clinton
Democratic presidential candidate Rep. Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii is accusing former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton of defamation over a recent statement that implied Gabbard was a Russian asset and is demanding that Clinton issue a retraction.

A letter from the Gabbard campaign's legal counsel insisted that Gabbard is not a Russian asset, and that Clinton knew the statement was untrue when she said it.

"In making the statement, you knew it was false. Congresswoman Gabbard is not a Russian asset and is not being groomed by Russia," the letter said. "Besides your statement, no law enforcement or intelligence agencies have claimed, much less presented any evidence, that Congresswoman Gabbard is a Russian asset. This fabricated story is so facially improbable that it is actionable as defamation."

The letter is part of Gabbard's continuing pushback after Clinton appeared on the podcast Campaign HQ with David Plouffe on Oct. 17. During the conversation, Clinton said, "I'm not making any predictions, but I think they've got their eye on somebody who is currently in the Democratic primary and are grooming her to be the third-party candidate. She's the favorite of the Russians. They have a bunch of sites and bots and other ways of supporting her so far. And, that's assuming Jill Stein will give it up, which she might not because she's also a Russian asset. Yeah, she's a Russian asset. I mean, totally."

Comment: Good! Get the lawyers involved and let Clinton and her cronies know - in no uncertain terms - that they cannot get away with such defamation. Kudos to Gabbard for getting tough on Clinton - who more than deserves a MAJOR comeuppance for all the many lies and high crimes she is responsible for.

Bolivian coup comes less than a week after Morales stopped multinational firm's lithium deal

The Sunday military coup in Bolivia has put in place a government which appears likely to reverse a decision by just-resigned President Evo Morales to cancel an agreement with a German company for developing lithium deposits in the Latin American country for batteries like those in electric cars.

"Bolivia's lithium belongs to the Bolivian people," tweeted Washington Monthly contributor David Atkins. "Not to multinational corporate cabals."

The coup, which on Sunday resulted in Morales resigning and going into hiding, was the result of days of protests from right-wing elements angry at the leftist Morales government. Sen. Jeanine Añez, of the center-right party Democratic Unity, is currently the interim president in the unstable post-coup government in advance of elections.

Investment analyst publisher Argus urged investors to keep an eye on the developing situation and noted that gas and oil production from foreign companies in Bolivia had remained steady.

The Morales move on Nov. 4 to cancel the December 2018 agreement with Germany's ACI Systems Alemania (ACISA) came after weeks of protests from residents of the Potosí area. The region has 50% to 70% of the world's lithium reserves in the Salar de Uyuni salt flats.

Comment: Whoever is behind the coup in Bolivia, will be also behind whatever new government replaces the one of Morales. And whoever will be behind the new government, will have a hand in the vast reserves of Bolivia's lithium.

Bolivia's deposed Evo Morales granted asylum in Mexico, vows to return - Trump hails 'democracy'

Former Bolivian President Evo Morales has announced his departure to Mexico, where he has been granted asylum, after opposition protests and military officials' pressure forced the socialist leader's resignation.

Following his abrupt resignation over the weekend, Morales said he would flee Bolivia to take up the Mexican government's offer for political asylum extended earlier on Monday, but promised to return with renewed energy. Mexico's Foreign Minister confirmed that Morales had boarded a Mexican government aircraft "sent to ensure his safe transfer to our country."

"Sisters and brothers, I leave for Mexico," Morales said in a tweet on Monday night, adding he was "grateful" to Mexico for providing asylum and "[taking] care of our lives."

One step closer to democratic, prosperous, free Western Hemisphere? Trump hails ouster of Bolivia's Evo Morales

US President Donald Trump praised the Bolivian military pushing President Evo Morales out of power as a "significant moment for democracy in the Western Hemisphere," openly endorsing what critics have called a coup in La Paz.

"After nearly 14 years and his recent attempt to override the Bolivian constitution and the will of the people, Morales's departure preserves democracy and paves the way for the Bolivian people to have their voices heard," Trump said in a statement on Monday,

He also praised Bolivia's military, which pressured Morales into resigning on Sunday, for "abiding by its oath to protect not just a single person, but Bolivia's constitution."

"We are now one step closer to a completely democratic, prosperous, and free Western Hemisphere."

While Trump framed the events in La Paz as a warning to the "illegitimate regimes in Venezuela and Nicaragua that democracy and the will of the people will always prevail," his may seem tone-deaf coming from someone who has accused his political opponents of an attempted coup - and been repeatedly denounced by them as illegitimate, tyrannical and a threat to democracy. Not to mention the infamous Washington's Monroe Doctrine and treating the countries of Latin America as its backyard.

Trump, of course, did not mention the US' hand in influencing Bolivian affairs. Right-wing causes in the country benefited from around one million dollars in grants from the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) last year alone. Suspected by some to be an arm of the CIA, the NED was established by Ronald Reagan in 1983 to promote American-style neoliberalism abroad.

Whether through public statements or NED funding, support for the opposition in Bolivia fits perfectly into the US' 'Monroe Doctrine' - Washington's century-and-a-half old policy of forbidding any rival worldview from taking root in the Western Hemisphere. Though infrequently acknowledged, President Trump spoke openly about his support for President Monroe's vision of an American hemisphere before the UN last year.

While Trump denounced Morales, the US State Department stepped in to sanitize Washington's position, with a senior official telling Reuters that the US has "no preference" among opposition candidates. The spokesperson did say, however, that anyone who tried to "distort" last month's vote should not be allowed to participate.

Morales has indeed ruled Bolivia for 14 years, but his bid for re-election was ruled legal by the country's supreme court, and the quick results count that showed him over 10 points ahead of the opposition candidate in the first round was in line with previous Bolivian elections.

The incongruity of praising violent opposition activists and the military for overruling the results of a democratic election - and then calling that outcome democracy - was apparently lost on the US president.

Lavrov: US wants to create illegal quasi-state in Eastern Syria to control the oil

Damascus, Moscow, Ankara and others have repeatedly criticised US efforts to continue to hold onto oil-rich areas of Syria, saying such actions are in blatant violation of international law.

The United States is looking to illegally separate territories on the eastern bank of the Euphrates and create a separate, illegal, quasi-state there, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said, speaking at the Paris Peace Forum on Tuesday.

"On the eastern bank of the Euphrates River, they are doing everything possible to create the structure for a quasi-state, and are asking the Gulf States for major investments in order to create a local administration on the basis of the Syrian Democratic Forces, the Kurds - the YPG People's Protection Units and others, with the clear intention of breaking this piece of territory off from Syria, and controlling the oil fields located there," Lavrov said.

At the same time, Lavrov accused the US of prohibiting its allies from investing in Syria's reconstruction.

Compromised? Nigel Farage admits he was offered a peerage 48 hours before Brexit U-turn

The Brexit Party leader has stood down hundreds of candidates in the run-up to the ballot

Nigel Farage claimed he was offered a peerage 48 hours before blinking first in his Brexit stand off with Boris Johnson .

The Brexit Party chief was forced to scrap plans to stand candidates in hundreds of seats amid mounting warnings he risked scuppering EU withdrawal.

He claimed he was offered a peerage on Friday night - just two days before his screeching U-turn boosted the Prime Minister.

But he denied the Christmas bauble was behind his decision - and vowed to snub the offer.

Comment: As it stands, the likely conclusion is that Theresa May's initial proposal of Brexit (in name only) will proceed unchallenged, much to the delight of Parliament which is dominated by remainers, and much to the dismay of a significant proportion of the general public that voted for Brexit. SOTT Focus: Resignation of Bolivia's Evo Morales Was No Victory for Democracy, but a US-Sponsored Coup

Bolivia coup
Evo Morales, an indigenous leader who bucked the IMF and condemned US imperialism, has been pressured by the military to resign after winning an election. Yet Washington calls this blatant coup in Bolivia a victory for democracy?

Morales was re-elected as Bolivia's president on October 20. The coup-backing Organization of American States (OAS) wasn't pleased and went ahead and interfered in the electoral process of a sovereign nation - as the US itself does so well - issuing a report that the vote result wasn't satisfactory. The heavy funding from the US surely has no influence on OAS policies...

In any case, on November 10, President Morales first announced a new election. Later that day, he announced his resignation, naming as reason the recent brutality of Bolivia's right-wing opposition, including "kidnapping and mistreating" families of indigenous leaders and burning down the homes of public officials.
"I resign from my position as president so that (Carlos) Mesa and (Luis Fernando) Camacho do not continue to persecute socialist leaders."
Morales was clear that his move was solely due to the violence incited opposition leaders. However, it soon became clear that this was a coup, not a resignation.
