Patriot Act coauthor Michael Chertoff touts more election security as federal ID system looms

Calls to overhaul the legacy bureaucratic systems of the U.S. with cutting-edge AI-driven mass tracking and surveillance technologies are intensifying at the top echelons of the National Security state with all eyes on the 2020 election.

Keeping in line with the trend of governance consolidation taking place among current and former members of the American political establishment, such as the recent lovefest between ex-president George W. Bush and liberal elites, Michael Chertoff, once Bush's DHS Secretary and coauthor of the Patriot Act along with two of his DHS peers sat down at an event hosted by the Atlantic Council on Wednesday to call for a "stepped-up response to election threats."

Janet Napolitano and Jeh Johnson, both former DHS secretaries under Obama, joined Chertoff in endorsing the findings and recommendations of a report published by the host's Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security, titled "Future DHS Project." The study was sponsored by the Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), a military intelligence contractor with close ties to Michael Chertoff's D.C.-based security advisory firm, the Chertoff Group, and Century Link; a defense telecommunications contractor, which was just awarded a disputed $1.6 Billion contract to manage core network and access services for the DoD.

Comment: Presently, it takes a manufactured excuse (almost anything will do) to warrant implementing total surveillance and AI protocols. Once established, this façade will be eliminated.

Pentagon Papers leaker Daniel Ellsberg testifies in Assange's defense, said WikiLeaks exposed 'war crimes' in 'public interest'

Whistleblower Daniel Ellsberg - whose 'Pentagon Papers' leak exposed illegal US bombing during the Vietnam War - said Julian Assange would not see a fair trial if extradited to the US, comparing the publisher's case to his own.

Testifying at Assange's extradition hearing on Wednesday, Ellsberg said the WikiLeaks co-founder would be denied a chance to defend himself if sent to the US for a trial, noting that, like in his own case, Assange would not be permitted to argue his publications were in the 'public interest.
"I observe the closest of similarities to the position I faced, where the exposure of illegality and criminal acts, institutionally and by individuals, was intended to be crushed by the administration carrying out those illegalities. [Assange] cannot get a fair trial for what he has done under these charges in the United States."

Top HHS official accuses scientists of plotting against Trump, tells supporters to buy ammunition

The top communications official at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) accused career government scientists of plotting against President Trump and told Trump supporters to arm themselves ahead of the November presidential election.

In a Facebook Live video on Sunday, HHS Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs Michael Caputo said the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) was harboring a "resistance unit" to Trump, The New York Times reported.

The career scientists "haven't gotten out of their sweatpants except for meetings at coffee shops" to plot "how they're going to attack Donald Trump," Caputo said, according to the Times. "There are scientists who work for this government who do not want America to get well, not until after Joe Biden is president."

Comment: Is Caputo a realist or a fomenter of dangerous talk? We shall see. As for the CDC, it has become the self-proclaimed hammer on evictions and the policy police for landlords unable, due to the plandemic, to collect rent.

Oopsies: Joe Biden's 2016 call with ex-Ukraine President Petro Poroshenko is leaked

A phone call between Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden and former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko was leaked Tuesday showing the two former leaders discussing what the then-vice president could and couldn't tell the incoming Trump administration, with Biden telling the foreign leader that he wants to stay "deeply engaged" in their diplomatic work as a private citizen.

The call, revealed by Ukrainian politician Andriy Derkach, took place on Nov. 16, 2016, just a week after then-candidate Donald Trump won the presidential election.

During the exchange, the outgoing vice president and the then-president of Ukraine discussed the topic of visas, "something we have tried to sell to the Ukrainian people," Poroshenko said.

Comment: CD Media had posted a three-part audio of the call..
A new audio tape released this morning between then Vice President Joe Biden and the former President Poroshenko in Ukraine shows Biden talking down the competence of the incoming Trump administration and declaring he will 'stay involved' in what is going on in Ukraine after the inauguration.

In the second tape, Biden calls Trump 'the dog who caught the car', who has no idea of what to do, and Biden and Poroshenko have 'a real chance of making him a hero'. In other words, damaging the incoming administration and making them look bad.

Much evidence has come out over the last year that the real collusion in the U.S. 2016 presidential election was between the Clinton campaign/Obama admin/Biden/DNC/Deep State. These tapes were recorded after Ukraine released the famous 'black ledger' which allegedly showed then Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort taking 'off the books' illegal payments. The ledger was later shown to be fabricated after the Mueller investigation was over.

The third tape shows Biden discussing getting Poroshenko's children into University of Pennsylvania, as payback for helping the Obama Administration in their Ukrainian anti-Trump endeavors.
The MSM continues to run interference for Joe Biden, as YouTube has removed the videos. CD Media has vowed to repost them::

Hunter Biden teamed with Chinese military supplier to acquire dual-use Michigan auto parts maker

Money for nothing?
As he was sewing up the Democrat nomination this spring, Joe Biden surprised many in foreign policy circles by publishing an essay arguing it was time to "get tough with China" and to stop its "robbing the United States and American companies of their technology and intellectual property."

For Biden, a four-decade advocate of trade and friendly relations with Beijing, it was a stunning turnabout that signaled the Democrat was concerned President Trump was winning the election-year battle over U.S.-China policy as tensions in the South China Sea, a trade war, and growing espionage cases created a Cold War-like atmosphere with China.

But for U.S. security experts, it was remarkable for another reason: An investment fund named Bohai Harvest RST (BHR) partly owned and directed by Biden's son, Hunter, and Secretary of State John Kerry's stepson, Chris Heinz, had just a few years earlier played a vital role in facilitating the sale of the Michigan-based auto parts maker Henniges Automotive to one of China's main military aircraft makers, Aviation Industry Corporation of China or AVIC.

The Army is to be drafted in for the biggest vaccination programme in UK history to protect the population against coronavirus, i can reveal.

Public health and civil contingency planners believe they will need military assistance to help administer tens of millions of jabs when the Covid-19 vaccine is ready.

Nightingale hospitals - currently mothballed after the first wave of the pandemic - and public buildings could be commandeered as mass vaccination sites.

'Maduro security forces committed crimes against humanity' - UN

Venezuela

The government of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has committed systematic human rights violations including killings and torture amounting to crimes against humanity, U.N. investigators said in a report on Wednesday.

Reasonable grounds existed to believe that Maduro and his interior and defence ministers ordered or contributed to the crimes documented in the report to silence opposition, the investigators said.

Specifically they had information indicating Maduro ordered the director of the national intelligence service SEBIN to detain opponents "without judicial order", Francisco Cox of the U.N. Fact-Finding Mission told a news briefing.

Comment: RT reports:
Venezuelan police & security forces committed 'arbitrary killings and systemic torture,' UN fact-finding mission claims

Valinas noted that some of the recorded crimes were "arbitrary killings and the systematic use of torture," which amounts to crimes against humanity. She said that President Nicolas Maduro and other high-ranking officials, including the ministers of interior and defense, were aware of the crimes.

The mission said that among the cases it examined were 16 cases of police and military operations resulting in 53 extrajudicial executions, as well as reviewed additional incidents involving 5,094 killings by police and security forces.

UN investigators were blocked from entering Venezuela after the country's diplomats said the UN action against Caracas was part of a hostile US-led campaign. Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza had previously slammed the UN for doing "little or nothing" to end the economic blockade imposed by Washington, which Caracas views as "economic aggression." Venezuelan officials repeatedly accused the White House of plotting to overthrow the current government.

Washington imposed several rounds of sanctions against Venezuela. Arreaza slammed the restrictive measures as "economic terrorism" that hurts ordinary people.

The US, along with their allies in Europe and the majority of South American countries, openly backs politician Juan Guaido who was last year elected by the then-opposition-controlled parliament as 'acting president' of Venezuela. States like Russia, China, Turkey and Iran continue to recognize Maduro as Venezuela's leader.

Guaido and his supporters staged several large anti-government rallies, some of which descended into rioting and clashes with police. The politician also urged the army to take his side, but the troops largely remained loyal to Maduro.
Should crimes against humanity have been committed - and it's highly possible considering the chaos wrought throughout the country - then surely the US is partly responsible, what with it's relentless attempts to overtly, and covertly, destabilize Venezuela:

Pacts between Israel & Gulf states might frustrate public but they may provide opportunities - analyst

Even though the Egyptian public didn't approve of its government welcoming the deals between Israel, the UAE and Bahrain, a Cairo-based expert says the accords will be beneficial for the region. Apart from opening the door for an Israeli-Palestinian dialogue, it will also boost the chances of Egypt and Israel improving ties.

Egypt's President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi was perhaps one of the very few leaders, who welcomed the shaping deals between Israel, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain and rushed to emphasise the benefits such pacts would bring to the Palestinians.

"I followed with interest and appreciation the joint statement between the US, the United Arab Emirates and Israel to halt the Israeli annexation of Palestinian lands and take steps to bring peace in the Middle East," he said on Twitter.

Comment: It remains to be seen whether those in Israel's establishment - who have shown little remorse over their callous actions up to this point - can be persuaded to behave in a less lawless manner what with the recent offers of partnership:

US propaganda merchants demand equal access to Russian airwaves while censoring foreign media at every opportunity

Kremlin

Even as the US government told Al Jazeera to register as a foreign agent, the Hill ran a misinformation-laden op-ed protesting proposed Russian rules that would do the same to US government propaganda. Exceptionalism or hypocrisy?

"US must demand equal access to Russian airwaves," Jeffrey Gedmin and Gary Schmitt argued in their essay, published Tuesday. Russia, they say, is forcing Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) to declare their status as foreign agents, to make sure "anyone would think twice about reposting news accounts and videos - or even visiting the site to begin with."

It is true that Russia's media regulator, Roskomnadzor, proposed a rule under which RFE/RL would have to label their content... in July. The US Agency for Global Media (USAGM), RFE/RL's parent company, has already objected to it - as has US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, back in August. It has not yet gone into effect, however, so why complain about it again now?

First they came for RT: US now wants Qatar's AJ+ to register as FOREIGN AGENT

AJ+, Al Jazeera's online channel, has been told to register as a foreign agent by the US government, under a precedent set against RT and Chinese outlets in recent years. The Qatar-based outlet is blaming UAE lobbyists.

"Despite assertions of editorial independence and freedom of expression, Al Jazeera Media Network and its affiliates are controlled and funded by the Government of Qatar," Jay Bratt, head of the counterintelligence and export control at the Department of Justice, wrote in a letter sent to Al Jazeera on Monday, according to Mother Jones magazine.

That means AJ+ is required to register as an agent of the Qatari government, under the 1938 Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA).
